  • Today we are in North Phoenix, Arizona visiting Joey's front and backyard food forest. The majority of these trees have been in the ground for only two years. Joey attributes his success to deep watering and bi-monthly feeding.
    To see more of Joey's yard, visit his website (www.rawrlife.com), Instagram (@joey.motta), or TH-cam channel (th-cam.com/channels/Fyn.html....
    Special thanks to Brandon and Alyssa from Greenie's Garden ( / greeniesgarden ) for helping making this video, and to Joey for letting us tour his yard.

    Awesome Shamus thank you. We rent a house that is in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve. Soil is not good. Everything is watered by hand. The problem we are having is when we water, it's getting down to the roots. I got a load of wood chips 2 years ago and it seems like the water just doesn't go down to the roots. Moringas do well up here though. got some seeds from Greg Peterson.
    What can I add to the soil now with the fall planting upon us. I have some Azomite that I got from you 2 years ago. Thanks Shamus, we love your videos.

    I'd bet all these things would do well in Yuma with the same principles applied in regards to shading but there is less risk of winter frost in Yuma.

    you should tour jake maces yard, he seems to have lost interest and rushes through, you guys are really into it. you take your time and are seriously fascinated by the trees just like I am. I noticed you haven't connected with jake in a while either, is he too much of a big shot now?

    • @veehaytch3440
      @veehaytch3440 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Jake is clearly going through tough times, which could explain why he doesn't have the passion or motivation to travel around and make these types of videos, or set collabs/pre planned videos.

    How high is that water bill, in Tucson a couple of simple plants/trees will cost you hundreds in that water bill.

  • @tarquinbristow492

    2:30 those are a bit nasty because they tend to kill surrounding vegetation (even lawn)and their hard seeds can last in the soil for ages.. Still have them popping up 20 years after removing the tree.

    • @mikeramos5709
      @mikeramos5709 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You mean the royal poncietta? Any seedlings and dormant seeds would mostly die w/o protection from Arizona's wild climate. That is nothing compared to what the white lead trees (jumbay) can do to a lawn or garden.

    Hello Shamus, I had a question about pomigranite trees , do you have to prune them in order for them to produce fruit or can you just let them grow, and if so how often. Thank you, l enjoy all your videos and have learned a lot from your channel. 😍

    • @amilom007
      @amilom007 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      pomegranates like to grow in bushes they don't like so much pruning since its does fruit on last year growth so for the first few years you probably should trim back a little bit to encourage side branching and bushiness
      otherwise the only pruning you do every year is removing suckers from the base
      pruning should be done in winter.
