How to Wire and Retrofit Homelink Dimming Mirror for Toyota Avalon

  • We wire a autodimming Homelink Mirror to a 2014 Toyota Avalon. We used the dome light power to get the 12V constant and GND wires.
    1 - GND brown and black
    2 - NC
    3 - NC
    4 - NC
    5 - NC
    6 - GND lightbrown (Thru BCU, dimming/fading)
    7 - NC
    8 - GND brown
    9 - 12v brown (constant)
    10 - 12v purple/brownish (Thru BCU, grounds when dome light on)

      Yea. All my other cars have a dimming mirror and Homelink so really needed this. I’ve also done this on my Dads Camry, his was prewired for the mirror so it was easier.

    I moved into a house with a LiftMaster garage door opener. I spent about an hour trying to connect the HomeLink to 1st Gen Lexus IS300 and it wouldn't connect. Like you said, I found out that the new LiftMaster does not work with older cars. It worked on my wife's 2017 Lexus RX350.

    Don't connect the constant power - it'll allow someone to break into your car if it's outside and open your garage.

    I have a toyota frameless mirror with homelink and compass...tried to install it...wiring is wrong somehow...only the homelink button works...compass is not working and not sure if auto dimm is working too....what could be wrong in wiring ?

      Look up the wiring of the mirror on Gentex site.

    Does it needs to be 16 awg primary wire ?

      You can get by with 18 and maybe 20.
