- Today I show you exactly how to install an auto dimming mirror with Homelink in your 2019+ Toyota Rav4. I am installing it on my 2021 Toyota Rav4 Prime but it should be the same for any 2019 and up Rav4. If you see something different with your 2019 or 2020 Non Prime Rav4, let me know.
The mirror is an OEM Toyota mirror from my dead 2014 Toyota Rav4 EV.

My dealer has a bolt on Homelink mirror that fits the 2019 and up Rav4 hybrids. It is a newer "frameless" design with the Homelink buttons on the bottom edge. PT37400210 for $128. It is battery operated so no wiring is required and can be swapped with a T20 screwdriver without taking the covers off.
just seer that model number on another site, but it $39 more then the prize you seer it for.
Love mine. No wiring to mess with. Best upgrade imo.

Just wanted to let you know your video help me with my install and I found a rearview mirror 1 inch extension on Amazon. The mirror don’t hit the plastic cover now

FYI, Homelink (or autodim) does NOT require constant 12V, ignition power for both wires is fine....one less wire to fart with.

You hooked up to the moonroof power, but this is not switched, it's always on. And I've read that the auto-dimming mirror might draw more than 100 ma. Any other alternatives to running a wire to the fuse box?
Hey James can you add a pdf link to show show which wire I need to use on to power my auto dimming/home link mirror. I won't be using any camera's. I also did not find any wire tucked in my 2017 Camry, just the moon roof and the interior lights. those have a bunch of wires so I don't know which all I need to use. the newer 2017 mirrors on ebay show a lo of different wire coming from the harness. It would great if you could help with some diagrams on the wiring. Thank u
When you need to strip very tiny wires, a cigarette lighter works great. The flame opens it up and the two sides of the cover move apart some.
Thanks for the Video! I'll definitely do this with my new Prime SE, too. Another thing I miss that the SE doesn't have (but the XSE does) is driver seat memory switches in the door. Any plans on doing a video on this upgrade (if it's possible)? Thanks!
I think that would be a ton of work and it’s not a feature I really miss. You’d need a motorized seat, switch and some custom wiring.
For the auto dimming miror, the port pin is 10-pins or 12-pins?
Thanks much for the video....easy install of my Gentex mirror after having viewed your video. Just a couple of things related to the install.....T-20 torx bit is the size needed and I added a Advent GENMM5 Gentex Extension Mount (needs a very small hex allen wrench) which gives allows the entire OEM mirror cowling to be installed. The Gentex auto dimming / homelink / compass mirror includes an info card which mentions the link to homelink.com for instructions to sync the mirror to the door / gate opener but it's best if you have the opener brand and model before you start otherwise you can select the generic instructions. Looking forward to trying your fog lights install next! Many thanks!
my XSE come with factory homelink. any idea how to setup homelink so it only works when car is ignited? i saw someone mentioned cutting the solid red wire will work but i tried that not working
I was thinking about it, but it looks to me like it could easily go wrong, so I'll just live with the stock mirror.
I tried to install toyota frameless mirror that has autondimm ..homelink and compass...tried to wire it...but only the homelink works....compass is not workiing and auto dimm is also not working...dont know why what is wrong with how i wired
Is the neck between two ball joints longer on the 2021 rav longer? Are those swappable?

The small cover from the Rav4 EV mirror? The one that covers the screw? It just popped off.
You might wanna google “windshield rear view mirror extender.” There’s a piece on eBay for 16 bucks that might give you a couple of inches so you can install the plastic cover back. Hope it works out.

Thank you for your comment! Yes Id sell the Rav4 EV. I might part it out though. Its worth 3 times more in parts. I'll probably add the battery to my home energy storage.
You know that Toyota sells a Homelink mirror made for the Prime?
They do but its almost $200 and its battery powered. The battery cannot be replaced. Once its used up you have to buy a new mirror... Instead I used something I already had, its wired, and didnt cost me anything.

Skipped so many steps after saying “I’ll show it all” that it’s worthless. I watched to see all the steps in order to do it, but it was no help.
