I think security is something those in the village you describe have, its just different than the western sense of security (I have enough money to pay for xyz) where they have their community to work with to achieve xyz. I think money isn't inherently the problem as its a tool, a medium of exchange. It's the western capitalist system of exploitation to acquire it that is the problem. Great points Joel! You're right that money isnt inherently the problem. It is how we use it that matters. The shift from individualistic thinking to a more community focused mindset is a way I believe we can counteract the kind exploitation you mentioned. But it is a difficult thing to shift the general idea in the west, of having to be reliant on only yourself, to finding strength in a community.
