I know you posted this 2 years ago, but just found it after I experienced this with my rescue, Miles. He was an older cat, and his history over 10 years was largely unknown. Everything was fine with him for about 2 years until one day he woke from a sound sleep with a violent seizure. He then had no idea where he was or who I was and was very distressed ....it was like he was a different cat dropped into our house suddenly. He continued to have these episodes about every 3 hours, with one of them leaving him paralyzed (unable to move) for about 5-10 minutes. I had him euthanized by an in home service, and the vet actually witnessed and stopped another seizure with the tranquilzer. Thank you sharing this as well as the history. I have never had or seen in my volunteer work a cat having seizures, so this has really helped me to process, and put the pieces together of what he had probably experienced in the 10 years before I adopted him.
This is sad to post videos about, but it's best to inform other cat owners that if this happens it's ok. Even if it ends up with the cat being euthanized.
I'm so sorry. My family just lost our 4 month old kitten on Black Friday to heart failure and my 9 year old daughter was absolutely devastated. Also, we have an 11 year old cat with Cerebellar Hypoplasia and seizure issues, that has been managed to only 1 seizure a month, but this week quickly progressed to 1 every 3-4 hours. We have to put her down, and although I will be heartbroken, I worry about my daughter losing yet another one of her fur-sisters. While it is disturbing to watch, it is helpful to people out there to see. Again, I am sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing this.
Thank you. I want to try to get the sound off this video, but it was helpful to me to have other people share their videos as I was researching what to do about our kitten.

Thanks for posting this. Our 16 year old bombay has started having seizures about every 2-3 months. The situation in my house when it happens is much like yours, hysterical kids, everyone in tears. It is so scary and helpless, there really isn't anything you can do.

Thank you for sharing this. I know this must have been a very difficult time for you and your family. I've lost pets before when all I could do was watch helplessly. It's so hard. And it still hurts years later. Thank you for sharing this though, this little baby is contributing to help many many more babies. I have a foster kitten right now that keeps making funny sounds, but it also is similar to the hairball sound. If she's having seizures I want to get her to the vet, but I don't wanna waste the doctors time with a kitten that's just got a hairball. I'm also a vet tech student so videos like this help me learn. Again thank you so much for sharing this, sending love and hugs for your loss, and give your kiddos a hug for me.
That's why I shared it. Other people sharing their cats having seizures helped me during that time. I hope your kitten gets better with the vet's help ❤

It’s very frightening and I appreciate you sharing this even though it’s so hard . I am waiting test results to see why my cat had this at six years old . I just saw you had to make a tough decision . I am so sorry . Blessings to you and baby 🐱
I'm so sorry that you and your children had to experience this. I have four cats. You did the right thing for the kitten. Before I had the four I have now I had four other cats. One had a stroke, struggling to breathe. Another one developed a tumor under the tongue and couldn't eat. The third one was having organ failure and passed. The fourth one died from old age. It's hard to lose an innocent animal. 💕🐹😥
Really? For freak sake. There is no evidence and no truth to that at all. A Seizure is a neurological misfiring which is neither prevented, made worse/better, or started/stopped by human emotional reaction or lack there of. YOUR response to what you're watching in this video is made worse by listening to my children crying in the back ground and you're projecting that onto what you see.
Zenzetsu [Elite] My cat Jagger is 15 years old going to be 16 any day purebred Himalayan just started having seizures this year in the beginning of April was his first one and then he had one at the end of September and another one just A week and a half ago, I am not sure what is causing it but something is wrong I took him to the vet his blood test came out normal they said his kidney levels were a little higher than normal to put him on a low protein diet, he’s been very sensitive to sounds lately and twitching which she never did, his last seizure lasted a little longer about a minute maybe a little over and I started freaking out crying, I couldn’t help but get emotional I thought he was going to pass away and me,my boyfriend kept telling me to calm down and I’m going to make it worse because the cat can hear me, whether that’s true or not, I am uncertain but someone told me to give my cat CBD oil that it’s known to treat seizures as well as many other things, it could come the cat down if he or she is stressed! I purchased mine from holistic pet online they were rated the number one CBD oil for pets, and may be something you might want to try for your fur baby! I just started giving it to my cat a week ago and he seems a lot more calm, but he still keeps twitching at times but I do give him the CBD oil morning and night just about 5 mL with each dose! Thank you for sharing your experiences this could be educational for others in your similar situation! Sending prayers and positive vibes your way! 🙏🏽
You are a stupid piece of shit. It is a kid, shit if I saw my cat Theo having a sezure I would be balling my eyes out. Her kid at least has some emotion idiot. It is something unbearable.
This may be coming a bit late, but Kudos to you for dealing with this whole situation exceptionally well. There will always be armchair quarterbacks who will nitpick and criticize, but assessing an emergent situation from a position of relative comfort and actually being knee deep are two completely different situations.
You are a strong mom especially when this is happening to a family pet. Your daughter sobbing made my heart break because my dog went through the same thing more than once as it also became a cluster for him. For those who experience this with their family pet, please be by their side comforting them and calling out their name gently. Also putting a pillow underneath their head will help them not injure their jaws. Staying by their side holding them upright if they begin to walk, just always be by their side. If they seem to look at you with a sort of aggression keep in mind that they will be blind for a bit and won’t recognize you. Keep a safe distance while calling out their name to let them know that you are his family. Call their vet if they’ve experienced three seizures in one day. I hope this helps to those who experience this and are confused as to what to do. Strong mother! Hope the kitten is well or in heaven ♥️
So sorry to watch your gorgeous little kitten go through this and then pass away we are thinking of you all and praying for you all too sending love ❤️ to you all too
My cat has a seizure about every 4 to 6 weeks but I don’t think I could cope with 2 in one day! I heard in another video I watched that massaging the back of the neck just before the onset of a seizure helps shorten or even stops the seizure and may even make them less frequent, I haven’t tried it yet because I only just learnt this recently since my cats last seizure and it would cost nothing to give it a go, I hope it helps someone!
My cat Sampson has seizures real bad and he’s about 7 years old. Y’all are sweet souls for trying to help them
not a good idea to "kill" the animal, because he had a seizure... some animals do seizures for some time and then never do any other in their life. seizure are not painful to the animal, he's unconscious while it's happening.

Your poor son was so worried about his kitty. I heard the way your kid(s) were crying & it made me want to cry. Thanks for sharing this video. God Bless! XOXO
No attempt to hold, pet or otherwise assist the kitten to prevent him from hurting himself? This is NOT the way to handle a seizure whether it's an animal or a human.
I’m very sorry that this poor kitten had such bad seizures, and I’m even more sorry that your children had to witness so many of the scary things. My fiancé’s cat has had four seizures in the past year and it’s absolutely terrifying every time. We’re so worried that he’s going to get seriously hurt, especially if he has one when we’re not home. The scariest one was when he fell head-first off of his cat tree and hit his head on the radiator then landed on the floor, we rushed him to the vet after that one. I’m pretty sure that the head trauma might have caused some bleeding in his brain, which gradually caused pressure to build which triggered the seizures. Anyway, I’m glad that this baby isn’t going through them anymore and I hope that you never have to worry about them again.
Awe, how sad. I hate seeing animals in this awful state. I respect animals as they are part of the family. Losing a pet is like losing a loved one. Its a shame this poor cat had to go through this. Great job taking good care of the kitten. You did what you could to help him. I’m sure the vet appreciates all your hard work. God bless.

Hindsight is 20/20, but the last thing you want to do whilst your pet is having a seizure is freak out and create loud noises. Crying, sobbing, all of that noise makes a seizure 20 times worse, especially for a creature as sensitive to stimuli as a cat. All you can do is make sure the cat doesn't hit anything whilst the seizure occurs, and try to keep loud noises to a minimum. Whilst understandable, you have to rein in your emotional reactions for the cat's sake whilst the seizure is happening, and comfort them as best you can once it's over. If you ever get a cat prone to seizures again, or if anyone reading this experiences this, don't do what happened here in the future.
I had a cat who also had seizures. Try to keep the surrounding calm, let the cat have his seizures and try your best to put him side wards so he couldn't be choked by his saliva. I didn't know what to do at first and I didn't know that my cat had a developing seizure. He also fell off the loft in my house, coming from our next door's neighbor's roof. I thought that was the reason he had this illness, he could have banged his head on the floor. How pitiful. Until now, I am still grieving for my lost kitty just 2 weeks ago.
It's very sad to witness something like this happen to your pets as you don't know if they are okay or not. And when you witness something like this you feel mixed emotions of scared, sympathy, sadness and shocked.
Aww sweetheart Im so sorry for your loss and Im sorry that you had to go through I know It can be super sad and scary and Im so sorry that you had to through this. aww sweetheart Im sorry. sending you love during this sad difficult time I love you
As a mama bringing a fading four week old kitten back from the brink of death, I have compassion and awe for your strength and calm in this crisis. My only -- ONLY suggestion would be to let the kids be a part of it. At least the crying daughter. To allow them to participate, bear witness, and to comfort them as you all coped with what you were witnessing and the implications that this kitten might not make it. As hard as it is for a child or an adult, in the long run I believe it makes coping easier when you can feel like you are an involved participant in the situation and aren't being shooed out of the room.
Боже, как жалко котёнка. Страшно, у меня два кота и мы их очень любим и так за них волнуемся. Дети ваши плачут, может не надо было им это видеть, печально.
I love that you can handle all that and keep it together for the most part, however, next time one should warn the kids that freaking out won’t help the situation and will make the one seizing more scared, also, it is best to try and comfort the one seizing even if they can’t hear as that will help keep them calm to some extent, i am going off of what I’ve learned and I am no way a professional Veterinarian. Edit; I mean this as criticism, not to be rude as you handled things as well as you could.
I have seizures and my cat has them too and is on phenobarbital. Its horrible to watch but I PROMISE that the cat doesn't feel pain. The meowing is from the confusion during the post ictal phase. I dont meow so I usually just ask what happened?

Am from india . My dog English Labrador 4.7 year old started having cluster seizures. Took him to the vet . He had his CBC checked Then it was found he had manings encephalitis ( inflammation of Manings layer of the brain ) so He administered 1 glucose with diazepam so that mind activity is calmed . Then he administered 500 mili gram of Chloromphenicol ( strong Anti biotic), 3 ml of meloxicam ( pain killer ) and 2 ml Rantidine twice per day according to his body weight (40kg ). His condition started improving with first day . He recovered from seizures from second day and started walking prior to that he couldn’t walk . I don’t know why vet put the kitten down , i do think putting down the kitten was first choice for the vet , i do think their was 80% chances she could have recovered. It’s absurd vet didn’t even took X-ray or CT scan to examine the extent of damage to the brain . If it would have minor then she could have recovered but it was major damage to the brain then vet should have suggested to put him down . But she is in better place now . I wrote this comment if someone in future read my comment and found it even a little bit helpful. Sorry for my bad English as this is not my native language . Also sorry for the little kitten but happy that she is free from the sufferings .
I think it was a wrong move to put down the kitten. There are millions of cat owners around the world who has cats with epilepsy who thrives in life, because they get proper medication. And also, the majority of animals (and people as well) can get rid of epilepsy/seizures, either through proper treatment or, in however less frequent cases, it just disappears slowly by itself. It's actually quite rare that epilepsy lasts a life time, especially when it starts as young as with your kitten. I recognize that the kitten was terrified (and it was painful to watch), but you don't know if its seizures would have stopped within a year or two. Please, anyone who reads this: if you have a pet with seizures, do not just put it down because of a few series of attacks, but instead ask your vet what should be done.
The cat was put down due to a decision between the vet and the publisher. If the cat had done this several times and in constant pain, the best thing to do would have been to put it down. Nobody wants to have to lose their pet but it stops their suffering

of these seizures. I don’t have seizures often but i know its a terrible thing to go through. The kitten did get
put down, and thats very heartbreaking to hear.

Oh as a mom and a pet mom my heart just bleeds hearing you and your kids cry. I'm so sorry you had to put him down. I know how hard that is.
I’m so sorry for your loss it must of been very hard for you but you did the kindest thing for him 🌈🦋🌸
This is sad to post videos about, but it's best to inform other cat owners that if this happens it's ok.
How have you managed you ch kitty's seizures till now. Mine is also ch she is just over 1 year now at about 1 to 2 a day but went 3 weeks with out one when switched her food she has since had about 1 a day for past 3 days
Poor little angel. I am so sorry about your kitty. The meowing was heartbreaking. And your kids crying for their kitty was as well. He’s at peace now. 😞💖
I cried. I was a full grown adult first time I saw a human have one..I cried then too. I call 911..she came to telling the ambuluance to go away cause she couldnt afford it.

Thank you for posting. My kitten had 3 small seizures and it was scary. Nothing like this but I was freaking out. On my way to the vet now.
That's why I shared it. Other people sharing their cats having seizures helped me during that time. I hope your kitten gets better with the vet's help ❤
Thank you for being a strong mommy
Poor baby . I can appreciate how hard this is as my cat had a seizure three days ago and I was terrified, she has never had one befor and always so healthy .
Poor baby, he's in a better place now...no more pain.
I am so glad you posted this. I can learn what a cat seizer looks like. Sorry you had to go through it.
If you cry in front of the cat having an episode. This could only make things worse.
Oops, wrong comment.
I mean, if there was a medicine for bad cluster seizure. It will be a success for the little kitten to live longer.

This may be coming a bit late, but Kudos to you for dealing with this whole situation exceptionally well. There will always be armchair quarterbacks who will nitpick and criticize, but assessing an emergent situation from a position of relative comfort and actually being knee deep are two completely different situations.
Omg my cat just did the same thing bout 10 mins ago it lasted for 20 seconds it scared me half to death

Best mom. 🎉
This made me cry so much💔
Thank you for all what you did for him!
My cat Sampson has seizures real bad and he’s about 7 years old. I’ve become desensitized to as he had done it for a long time but it’s a natural reaction to this cause this poor kitten didn’t know what was happening I’m glad they at least had some love before being put to sleep. Y’all are sweet souls for trying to help them
This was by no means easy. You did good. Poor little guy.
not a good idea to "kill" the animal, because he had a seizure... some animals do seizures for some time and then never do any other in their life. seizure are not painful to the animal, he's unconscious while it's happening.

Hearing the child crying was so sad 😢 Seeing the kitten like that would make me want to hold it 😢
No attempt to hold, pet or otherwise assist the kitten to prevent him from hurting himself?
God bless.

I'm so sorry for your family
I agree but the kid probably didn't know that and just panicked.
Starzone88 of course, that’s why I said it’s understandable. But you have to try to be bigger than that in the moment.

As hard as it is for a child or an adult, in the long run I believe it makes coping easier when you can feel like you are an involved participant in the situation and aren't being shooed out of the room.
the meowing got me... i started crying

If you read the description the kitten was put down.

A knife through my frickin' heart.
Hold on, did you really have the kitten put down instead of putting it on medication?
This is totally absolutely traumatizing!!!! I know!!!! Only just a small little helpless wee kitten. My cat had seizures a few days a part
Maybe you should not let your kids be traumatized before having him cry that his probably best friend is dying. But ok. Good mom keep filming.
Exactly what I was thinking. How about stop recording and take your child out the room!
What do you do to help them
I think it was a wrong move to put down the kitten.
