you arent too critical - appreciate your thoughtful commentary on what makes a space feel like it works vs missing the mark. it's such a great way to 'dissect' a space!
I appreciate this. It was getting so much praise, and that makes sense against a lot of the bland “celebrity” homes and I couldn’t pinpoint what it was. I think I would put it under inauthentic-the pieces are unique but feel purchased at once. It’s “aesthetic” vs having a point of view? For all the “special” pieces it all feels like decor that she will likely entirely switch out in a few years, so it prevents it from feeling truly cozy. Maximalism that is good feels “built up”-in my opinion
You said exactly what I felt looking at the video. I couldn't finish it. I'm a maximalist and yet even I was overpowered by the explosion of details that were fighting for dominance.
I love the sips, makes me feel like 'hello, we've arrived at a Noah Daniel video'. I really thought that you would mention the light fixture in the kitchen with the exposed light bulbs, but don't worry, I critiqued it in my own head with an inner voice that is you from a previous video 😂
I need to make an extreme bedroom makeover and I'm learning so much from your videos! You changed my perspective on interior design and i appreciate the way you almost treat it like a philosophy... it made me want to honor features of my house i used to hide! Thank you so much for this content :)
Oh My god! Im just in love with your videosss! Im finishing to fully renovate my whole apartment and i got sooo many ideas and learnings from your videos! I love your taste and thought process! I agree 100% with every thing you commented here! Keep up the great work you are already my favorite interior design channel!
I love your critiques! One thing I’ll note is that a good amount of residential architecture of Los Angeles in the first half of the 20th century drew heavily on old European cottage styles. Many homes of that era (20s to 40s) were really part of the fantasy of LA, a departure from reality that rolled in on the heels of the movie industry. Ranch and modern styles proliferated during and after the 50s.
Yes, I was thinking this when I watched the video and he said the house was unusual. These kinds of houses are all over LA, actually. The storybook style as well as styles like Tudor Revivial are everywhere. Even a lot of the ranch homes from the 50s have diamond-paned windows, wood paneling and beamed ceilings, fireplaces, and on the outside, exaggerated, curved rooflines, dovecotes, and other whimsical details.
Honestly you can do any kind of video or sip whatever you want, I’ll still be watching. There’s something about you and the video that is just so soothing and very informative!
Please review Amanda Seyfried’s as I’m curious to hear your thoughts! Thanks for the all the content uploaded so far, I like your authenticity and explanations
noo, I love that you take a sip in the begging of your videos. I often watch these videos while having coffee or tea myself lol. in general, it really adds to the chill vibe 🤎
This video reminds me of work and providing constructive feedback😂. Also, it reminds me my college art appreciation class. I wish the professors also show bad examples as well like you😂. Love the honesty from you on a respectful way
It baffles me how rich peoples homes can look so cheap. You aren’t a hater you are a constructive criticiser for the sake of education- very different!
I love your critiques. You said what I was feeling however I did not know the reason I was feeling that way until you gave your explaination of why it did not work. I love that she does not own a cookie cutter home.
Sending positive energy in hopes that you get your new apartment! Thanks, as always, for your delightful and helpful design advice. While I was watching this, I moved my desk lamp to a new location on a bookshelf nearby. SO much better! Why did I never think of that before? I need to watch your videos every day, tbh.
2:08 yes! I was mixed on her home. Def cozier than most current American design but too overwhelming in pattern and ornament and stuff for me. I’m excited to hear how you break it down…
THANK YOU for describing what's not quite right with the fireplace. That was the only thing that ended up looking like a beginner DIY project...really stands out when the rest of the space feels really high-quality.
I never comment on the internet but had to because you are doing god’s work the way you talk about design. I’ve never hit subscribe faster! Requesting a review of Emma Chamberlain’s AD tour next! Sending all the good energy your way for the new place! Please keep doing what you’re doing!
I love the sipping and relaxing vibe of your videos. I'd love it if you'd do a video on how to find your personal decor style. I just bought a house and am basically starting from scratch.
regardless of style, i love how much she clearly loves her home and appreciates every single detail in her house, you can tell she really put a lot of heart and care and thought into it. incredibly refreshing compared to most celebrity homes. not to mention it actually looks like a very nice place to live in, unlike the gaudy slate cubes most celebrities enjoy.
Huge manifester here. 😉 Thanks for breaking down what I didn't like about the tour when I originally saw it. It's great to know why I didn't like parts of it.
Wishing you luck on the apartment! These critiques were what I was thinking too but didn’t have the words to describe them. Especially highlighting the dolls! The matching fireplace does not look good but the matching bed I think works and is interesting. Also, there was a big tv in the living room and also a tv in the “tv room”? Hopefully she gets rid of the big one above the fireplace haha
Did she get traumatized by living in a Cold Gray Home at some point and shift too far towards the other end of the spectrum?! It's giving stuffy grandmother's home to me. Nothing is inherently ugly, just vibes are wrong for all the reasons u so eloquently pointed out. Also, Noah, you are the pickiest person I've ever seen regarding home decor but it's sooooo enlightening to hear your observations, loves it.
Best of luck, what a unique way to go about it by drawing a name from a hat, I guess it's to counter excessive bidding wars? Loved the video, these are instructional in their own way and give a language to non-designers like me that I didn't have before. Like the balance of cold and warm colours and materials, it makes so much sense now why the save was feeling heavy or claustrophobic.
the doll shelf thing really sticks with me because i have an issue mixing my interior design interest with the collectibles and hyperfixations i have!!
Hey Noah, I learn a lot from your unique, stylish and candid vids. Thank you :) You are NOT overly-critical, you are not even being critical! You are offering a 'critique' and it's exactly when you DO speak your mind -that makes you stand out/made me subscribe! Sip your coffee, call out electric candalabras , diss the faux flames and keep INSISTING that we don't corner-position our furniture! If someone objects to YOU 'doing you'? They can go watch some bland, cookie-cutter, tame, dehydrated knob(s) who are too scared of being seen as 'controversial' to even warrant a yawn. Lean into it. Continue being your magnificent, unapologetic, opinionated self. That's why we love you! (Don't turn into a gray, distressed wardrobe) ;)
Like your videos. One comment about dark rooms, I think when you live in a bright sunny and hot place the dark can be refreshing, same as shade is refreshing. I agree the burnt orange room is too heavy, not refreshing.
🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽 for the apartment. Your kept going to the word "thick" when trying to convey the overly-ornamented style of Emma's home, and I remember watching it and thinking constantly of bad 1940s cooking: gravy and stew. I don't think the lighting quality of AD's filming has helped, or that Emma has dressed to match the decor. In the still photographs the colour palette seemed less oppressive. To carry the food metaphor further, I longed for something bright and tangy and uplifting to create some contrast with all that heaviness.
Manifesting for you both (also for me), I want to see the content you’d create designing a space and why the space has you so excited. Your videos so far have been really informative and helpful. Would you be open to doing another video for subscribers? I have an open plan kitchen and dinning room…that also happens to be my weaving studio. Im struggling to make the space work with my larger equipment…and my love of bold colors and could really use a more professional eye. Anyway I hope it’s good news on Monday!
Hii! Absolutely agree - its cozy, but a huge departure from bold minimalism of Troye’s house. I am reconstructing a small apartment just now (40m2) and was wandering what your thoughts are on color drenching- I’m considering the hallway - the apartment has wall and ceiling moldings (think parisian apartments) - love your channel and can’t wait to see it grow (as im sure it will)
Hope you get the apartment! I don’t love this home, though I like how much she loves it. I agree about the heaviness of the decor style. Kinda squashy and chintzy without being fun. The place looks physically comfortable, but for my taste the palette is somewhat dowdy, overly beige/brown. I feel like it sinks past comforting into dated and depressing. Those nice vintage pieces could use some contrast to bring them to life and anchor them in the time they’re actually in.
there's a chunky midwest cabin aesthetic to her house of a homemaker that's interested in interior design but not so interested to let her own ideas go. it's not the best but i suppose it's nice to see one express their taste no matter what most people are doing...
I’m just so so on the whole place, but I think that the rooms that were the lease successful were actually the rooms that you liked the best, the kitchen and the bathroom. The kitchen in particular I thought was really bad. I hated the blush tan color washing on everything, and the floors as you said were terrible.
hey Noah, i have white kitchen and want to install wood blinds on the window above the counter top. i am debating between white wood blinds and natural wood color blinds. What do you prefer in general?? You guys what do you like??
Noah I can’t for the life of me find a way to balance an arched black iron day bed in my bedroom with white walls in front of a window. Renting so can’t paint and the daybed is my parent’s so it has to stay. It’s across from a 55 inch ikea desk.
I swear you could be the identical twin of a friend of mine-I do a double take every time one of your vids pop up! (Two sips for the haters made me giggle 😂)
you arent too critical - appreciate your thoughtful commentary on what makes a space feel like it works vs missing the mark. it's such a great way to 'dissect' a space!
Your lil sip at the beginning makes me always wanna sit down with tea or coffee and I love it. Don't stop being you
I don’t think I’ve ever heard the word “thick” to describe a space, but it is the perfect word for that living room. 😆
Yes King, take two sips and review a celebrity home!!!!
Manifesting your “we got the place” video!! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

omg you GET it. in the sea of clusterfuck design, you break it down so well, its so satisfying.
You said exactly what I felt looking at the video. I couldn't finish it. I'm a maximalist and yet even I was overpowered by the explosion of details that were fighting for dominance.
Sip away! 😂 don't listen to haters. You have an ASMR style and I like it
I don´t mind him sipping, but disliking it, is not hating. I, for example, dislike (too loud) music in the background of a video.
@@ephajanke3242 I don't love that either 😉
Haters will hate anyway. 😊

always looking forward to your videos. perfect coziness for the end of the week
Thank you for commenting on that corner sink. Totally agree with everything you said about the house, but especially the placement of that sink.
I love the sipping at the drink! Love your vibe and videos, your channel has become my favorite.
Please review Amanda Seyfried’s as I’m curious to hear your thoughts! Thanks for the all the content uploaded so far, I like your authenticity and explanations

she's not as rich as, for exemple, Gwyneth Paltrow.
Well no but she has a house in LA and can afford an interior design team…
I LOVE HEARING THE SIP!
Also MY fingers crossed for the apartment and thank you for the accurateness of your eye on designs ! Makes the critique delightful !
I love your critiques. You said what I was feeling however I did not know the reason I was feeling that way until you gave your explaination of why it did not work. I love that she does not own a cookie cutter home.
Not me refreshing noah's channel on repeat waiting for this
Always look forward to your videos. Putting it out in the universe that you and the boyfriend will receive your apartment.
The elements that you describe as thick or heavy are coming back in, after so many years of attempting to always be "light" and "fresh"
Sending positive energy in hopes that you get your new apartment! Thanks, as always, for your delightful and helpful design advice. Love your videos and your vibe so much. Sending the best energy for that apt lottery! Best wishes from Barcelona.
“thick sea” is 💯 for me. the words you choose to critique help me to find my feelings about the space.
surprised this was recommended.
Sip away and good luck on the apartment Noah! We love your videos, keep them as you are 🖤

manifestingggggggg because we need design vids of the new apt!!!!!!!!
You give words to EXACTLY what I feel about each space and why I feel that way. It's so validating and satisfying and educational!
Manifesting the house for you guys ❤❤❤ we need to see it
Thanks for making these videos, Noah. I have learnt so much from you.
I like your drink at the beginning. Feels cozy. I also like the celebrity home tours!
Sleek, smooth and non offensive commentary as usual
Love your vids…The sip & greet sets the vibe! Sending you lots of positive energy for the apt! 💫
Good luck headed your way for the apartment❤
This was great, please do a part two.
Huge manifester here. 😉 Thanks for breaking down what I didn't like about the tour when I originally saw it. It's great to know why I didn't like parts of it.
I love all the shade thrown in the intro kkkkk

your videos always make my day

You are never too nit-picky critical
All good luck with the apartment x
Check out 8 Holland Street Bath. Really nice home tour. Very creative. House and Garden have the tour on their channel.

Good luck! 🤞🍀
hey Noah, i have white kitchen and want to install wood blinds on the window above the counter top. i am debating between white wood blinds and natural wood color blinds. What do you prefer in general?? You guys what do you like??
Natural wood to add contrast. A light blonde could be nice. Try a few samples.
