      Call me lazy, but I would have went with the SG13 variant case, but the portability would have been limited in comparison. Good work again Paul!

      The "slim optical drive" you said might fit in the area next to the two main drives... Any suggestions on where to go to GET one? I've looked on New Egg and the only ones they have are either externals or ones meant for laptops. Where do you get an internal slim drive meant for a desktop?

    GOOD JOB on the cable management, that's quite creative and needed some super-fine tuning, you did good son, you did good...

  • @Haksdo2

    Nice, well balanced small gaming machine. Just a tiny note: 500W is certainly not on the low end for this, the system will probably not even break the 300W barrier when gaming. Both the Ryzen 5 and GTX1070 are pretty damn power efficient, only when you overclock the living bejeezus out of them will you even get close to 400W usage, more but still very comfortably within the range of the PSU.

    • @AtomicAJ74
      @AtomicAJ74 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I thought the same thing. I've been annoyed at everyone thinking they need 2 times the power they really do. It's one thing to want to be on the sweet spot of the efficiency curve. It's quite another to spend $100 on a power supply when a $35 power supply will do the job AND enable you to get more/faster RAM or a better cooler.

    • @Starscreamious
      @Starscreamious 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AtomicAJ74
      Good luck overclocking on a 35$ PSU.
      Good luck not having a catastrophic failure.
      You get what you pay for.

    • @AtomicAJ74
      @AtomicAJ74 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Starscreamious I've overclocked many $35 PSUs. I like EVGA, and you can get a great 450 watt PSU, and sometimes a 550 watt PSU for $35. Sure, you won't be able to overclock a 150 watt CPU paired with a 2080 Ti, but if you're buying those kinds of components, you're spending more than 35 dollars on your power supply. But for a Ryzen 5 with a GTX 1070, a 450 watt power supply is ample, even for overclocking.
      You DON'T need a 50% margin on your power supply.

    • @Starscreamious
      @Starscreamious 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AtomicAJ74 Please don't tell people to buy a 35$ PSU like it's a reasonable thing to do.
      The real cutoff is about 70$ or 50$ on a deep sale.
      Some of those EVGA models are good...some bad.
      Recommending people cheap out on their power supply is something everyone new to PSU has to learn the hard way not to do.
      A good PSU will save you money on your power bill, help you OC your components, save your components during power spikes and sags, and last 1 to 2 decades.
      I wouldn't recommend someone buy the cheapest serpentine belt or brake pads or calipers for their car for similar reasons.

    • @AtomicAJ74
      @AtomicAJ74 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Starscreamious “The real cutoff is...” you put the dollar sign behind the amount, which implies that you may not be in the United States, which is where my comment is relevant. EVGA and Corsair, as well as other manufacturers sell perfectly adequate power supplies in the $35 range. They will last years trouble free. That may not be the case in other countries. As I said, you should not be pairing a 2080 Ti with a 450 watt power supply.

    it can fit 3 fan cards, but you give up the 3.5 inch HDD space. the way I mounted my 3.5 inch is I ripped out the optical drive mounting pegs and used 3m mounting tape. 1000 miles of car drives and 6 months later, still holding just fine. makes it a bit heavier though.

    With slight modding you should be able to fit that low profile Cryorg C7's fan onto the Wraith Spire's larger heatsink for improved cooling performance and still fit in that ML08-H case.
    Good case choice BTW, mine was a toss-up between that and the Node 202, but I liked the ML08's handle, and room to mod a 3.5" HDD into the slim ODD spot if I wanted to add one down the road.

I could not for the life of me figure out a good cable management route and put them all over the fan lol. I had to take off the side panels and add a tower cooler...

    I had a thought regarding these mini motherboards : what if the mobo manufacturers design a connector cable that has all the front IO male connection pins on, and is long enough to reach to any side of the motherboard and plugs in on the under side of the mobo. Might be possible to do this for the 8pin power too. Only one that def wont work is the 24pin cable.

I gueds that both versions fit well inside this case and I understand that the 1070mini has less power consumption but is this relevant if it has only 2 fans instead of 3? Is the mini version better because provide less heat to the case? It should be some performance differences between the two graphic cards? Thanks so much!

    Very cool build. Think a 1700x or 1800x with a 1080 or 1080ti would be too much in there heat wise?

    Man Paul, that sure was some rascally goof-ball music you chose for the build montage.

    do you have in mind any case with similar width but without the extra space for graphic card?

    Sweet build :-) Just one question.. You did not once mention a potential issue about the fact that there are no case fans.
    Are You not worried about heat issues here?

      Michael Clausen I have this case and, no thermals are not an issue, in fact arguably better then some tower PCs as this case behaves a little like a open bench due to each component intake air independently.

      I don't think the case is designed to incorporate a case fan. Each component has its own fan facing the ventilation.

      Yeah thought so... will start cutting up my own SFF case (Nano S), and build individual compartments for each unit inside now ;-)

    Hey Paul, do you think the cryorig fan is better? Or is the nactua 92mm fan batter?
