Thanks to my dad for making me love Dire Straits. I'm from Spain and since I first listened to Sultans Of Swing from Alchemy I realised that this was my favourite music group. Great version of Portobello Belle with that Guitar vs Saxophone solo. I wish someday we could get a soundboard version with that great Irish reggae. Thanks @BEST Knopfler LIVE
This extended live version is by far the best. I love Irish women the best they are a good woman tough as well as passionate and Irish love hands down better than any other.
I don't know London well; remember getting a tube to Notting Hill for the sake of some record shops; walking down a road and found myself in Portobello, where an open air food market was on and I ended up buying a cd by a duduk player. DS sound on this tour: Terry Williams/Mel Collins were old prog rockers and Alan Clark was allowed to do a lot. A different sound. Freer. Some improvisation. And with this running into ToL: 30 minutes non-stop playing.
They did a lot of that on the original release of Alchemy. Expresso Love starts with the end section of Industrial Disease, and Romeo & Juliet ends with the intro to Love Over Gold.
And around 8:00 and onwards you get a really nice mix with "angel of mercy", I never had realized how close both songs are, and that's in fact a trademark of MK's music

I think that all the dIRE sTRAITS productions were great. But communique, because it was rushed and written while on tour with pressure from people to make a follow up of the first album.. on the rest of the discography you can clearly see where Mark is going musically :)
Mattias Johansson Communique used to be my least favorite album, but it grew on me a lot. Making Movies was one of my favorites, but as I listened to it more and more it felt too pop. If I had to chose one one album it would probably be On Every Street.

Awesome version of an awesome song in one of the best qualities I've heard of the Love Over Gold Tour (after Alchemy of course). The most bootlegs from this period are so shitty, but this sounds great!
Spettacolare. Se la volessimo trasporre in un contesto e in una tradizione italiani, potremmo dire che ci stanno raccontando Porta Portese. Per il resto, è una festa: di immagini, di oggetti, di personaggi, dell'allegria semplice del popolo. Le risposte a canone in ritmo reggae tra Knopfler e Collins sono semplicemente da leggenda: capolavoro, peccato che non trovò spazio ufficiale su Alchemy.
