My favorite comedian of all time. I've never seen anyone with such an ability to exaggerate a person's mannerisms whilst maintaining complete accuracy. It's truly a thing of beauty.
Harry Enfield & Paul Whitehouse have had a massive impact on British culture. Been watching their comedy evolve over 30 years. They have conjured up, and played so many great characters
Grew up watching Harry Enfield as a family. All of us sat around belly laughing. Me and work colleagues still quote his characters and do their mannerisms to this day. Part of the true golden age of comedy imo. Genius.
The parody Harry Enfield and P W of BBC,2 was one of the finest pieces of comedy I have seen in my 67 years . Thank you Harry for all the laughs - increasingly rare in this dystopian world .
The 'Great War documentary' part is one of the most brilliant parodies ever made to my opinion. I actually see it as some sort of a legitimate 'epilogue' to the Great War historiography.
I grew up on The Fast Show and Chums. I’m 50 now but can still recite sketches verbatim. 20 years ago I bumped into Harry near where I worked and plucked up the courage to say hello. He was kind enough to stop and pose for a photo under the clock in Marylebone High Street. He pulled “that” leering face as well. It’s one of my favourite pics.
One of my best memories of Harry was playing Wayne and Waynetta and he was secretly laughing his socks off, I had belly laughs so bad / good, what a comedian.
Rob, you're a great interviewer. You listen and let your guests tell their stories, whilst also leading the direction and sharing stories and information yourself. Extremely enjoyable to watch.
I loved so much british comedy in the 90s. Enfield and Whitehouse along with Rik and Ade still have a place in my hearts for all the laughs they gave me. The memories of watching with my father and howling with laughter together are priceless.
What a hugely influencia and talented comedian. He really created such iconic popular characters. Had me laughing in stitches though all my teenage years! Comedy gold.
Agreed. I don't know if he ever had a name but I remember one about a married man whose wife was seeing someone else. He just accepted it and you could kind see why the wife didn't want him anymore. Then he ended up living at the bottom of the garden and I felt really sorry for him. It was a great ongoing series of skits.
How lovely to see Harry after sooo long. As to his characters, we’ll; ‘Tim nice but dim’ is now an adjective for me. It so perfectly describes some people and I don’t think anything will surpass Kevin and Perry. They are just THE definitive illustration of many teanager’s years. But the list just goes on. Just so many great observations on life and character born from that
The Enfield & Whitehouse sketch 'northern relief' is so brilliant that it actually made me (not being British...) go and explore the various real life or just types they play there... In some way trying to understand and catch up with the enrite context.
The admiration these two have for each other's work in the same field is really inspiring. That is what I love, it's not a competition, it's a appreciation. It makes it an extra joy to watch
But he does tend to interrupt his guest with his own anecdotes. OK if you’re looking for just entertainment, but a bit frustrating if you’re trying to get as much from the guest as possible.
@@langdalepaul I guess that I don't agree. Normal conversations happen like that and this comes across (brilliantly) as a conversation between friends.
@@martinevans1427 when I’m in a conversation, and the other person keeps interrupting my story and making it about him, I don’t consider it normal and I don’t much enjoy it. But if you liked it, fine. I would have preferred to hear more what Harry had to say.
What an amazing man he is. Down to earth. I only found out about him a few weeks back, and his humour is marvelous. But as a human being, he's just amazing. One of us, really.
I just recently discovered Harry Enfield…I am ashamed to say. He is absolutely brilliant and I am starting my life watching his old comedies on you tube.
Harry Enfield is in my Top Ten Most Valuable Humans Ever - List. I will never be finished owing him for the endless laughs he's given me, my family and friends. Love you Harry! - What a thoroughly bloody nice bloke.
Kevin and Perry Go Large is unironically and completely seriously in my top 10 films of all time. Probably watched it 50+ times. Harry is an absolute genius!!
I've watched the 'Story of the Twos' a number of times now and I still find it very very funny indeed. Harry, Paul Whitehouse and Charlie Higson are a force to be reckoned with.
Harry Enfield is one of the few celebrities I’ve actually met in person. I say “met”, but I never actually spoke to him because we were both staying in a small boutique hotel over a long weekend and I didn’t want to interrupt what looked like an opportunity for him to get away with his friends and family for a weekend.
Similar thing when I "met" Oliver North at Disney World. I was two places behind him and his family in the "Back to the Future" queue.. I didn't say "Hello" 'cos of his two huge bodyguards. Cautious and correct use of quotation marks again.
Harry Enfield reminds me so much of childhood Christmases when I'd have got one of his VHS tapes as a present. Would sit in front of the TV with a box of chocolates and laugh my little head off.
Really interesting interview, largely due to Harry not participating in many. Such a good natured chap. And one of our very best comedy actors/satirists.
A true comedy treasure... He's got even better like a good wine... Thank you Rob, thank you Harry. Thank you Paul, Kathy.... Thank you all for making us belly laugh. We need you more than ever.
This episode is the first that’s forced me to go over to Spotify, and so pleased there’s over an hour of this episode there 🙏 thank you for so much joy x
I love Harry so much. He's literally my childhood hero. There is no one like him to thus day in my opinion. I do think some of these episodes could go on longer though. Also, I do think you could let your guests talk a a bit more about themselves. Don't get me wrong, I love your comical responses, but I do feel like some guests are sometimes cut off early. I think this episode might well have at least an hour of interesting footage from Harry which I would love to see as it's so rare to see an interview from him. Either way, thank you for bringing our comedy legends onto the platform and reminding us of the real comedic geniuses of our time. I just hope the new generations are "somehow" nurturing these type of comedy legends.
One thing, among many things, that I love about Harry Enfield is that he likes making fun of comedy and comedians, I especially love his parody of the quiz/panel shows.
I remember seeing Harry in a shop opposite radio 1 about 15 years ago. I knocked on the window and shouted “Only Me!!!!! You don’t want to lean on that bannister you might fall down and break your neck, Ey!!” Harry shook his head and laughed to himself a lil bit. Then my mate shouted “Harry! I’m smoking a fag!!”. In all fairness to Harry he was a good sport about it, we were just overly excited 18 year olds 😂

I rewatched it for about the 20th time just yesterday.
A rarity in our modern world, a celebrity who isn't self-obsessed and shies away from the attention. How refreshing and impressive.

Harry Enfield is the greatest comedian of the last 30 years, possibly up there with the likes of Ronnie Barker. Some extraordinary work.
Completely agree, the guy just had an eye for the right sketches. Brilliant at his work
🧢
He is the best
That’s like saying a mars bar is the best sugary treat
Let's not forget David Jason ❤️
Harry Enfield is great man, he’s actually starting to act & look like a harry Enfield character
😁👌
‘Gay Son’ dad Barry for me.
I think he's turned into his character from the Polish cafe sketches. Similar mannerisms.
I was at school with Harry. We had mutual friends but I didn’t know him. He was just a nice, pleasant person. Still is.
One of my best memories of Harry was playing Wayne and Waynetta and he was secretly laughing his socks off, I had belly laughs so bad / good, what a comedian.

Harry used to live next door to friends of mine in Notting Hill, bumped into him a few times, always a thoroughly nice chap.
As nice as he was, was he ever a little dim?
Bloody nice chap a huh
Harry Enfield's characters are genius. So many have aged really well - especially 'Considerably richer than you' Brummie.

I think the Brummie character lives in Solihull now...
I liked the honest car salesman but I think he only ever did one or two of those. Honest John.
Stop the paon
“Excuse me sport, but me and my Mrs over hear couldn’t help but notice that we are considerably richer than Yow”
Man,,, Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse are comic geniuses and will live forever in my head as Charles and Sheridan ❤️
Charles and Sheridan are indeed a creation of comic genius. But Enfield and Whitehouse are comic geniuses whatever they create.
Possibly for 20-25 years
I think people will still be quoting them in oooohhh 40...45 years?
Harry is one of the very best we have had and still have. great stuff rob, love these interviews 👍
Harry Enfield, a comedy genius. An too top it off, a good genuine person.
Harry Enfield's "Ulsterman" sketch is a brilliant sketch that holds up today. Brilliant comedian.
And the Yorkshireman
Sophistication ... Sophistication !!! ... Don't talk to me about sophistication, Iv been to leeds
Ulsterman, absolutely incredible.... 5**** performance
I have made a legitimate and peaceful request for cheddar cheese and pineapple on a stick!
William Ulsterman isn’t so much a comic creation as much as he is an accurate depiction of a certain type of person.
Harry Enfield was literally my entire childhood loved the guy so glad to see him looking so well we need some Harry Enfield back on the tv
