I'm an older guy who like many others has decided to have another go at trying to play the guitar, now i have more time and JJ Cale is the main reason why. I only discovered him about 3 years ago and i love the way he plays and his whole vibe. He's also the reason i'm here. Long live JJ and thanks for the video bud 👍
When recommending Brian to my friends I always praise the way he not only makes up his music for the lessons but he will make it in a "STYLE OF" or for technical purposes etc. It s not a lesson showing you to play a famous piece of music. The lessons always have something that can be used in any of your playing with an explanation how and why it is being uses.. Always inspirational and easy to understand (not always easy to play ) but thats up to the individual guitarist. Saying that its not unreachable but just need to put the time in. Thanks Brian for being a part of my every day Guitar life.
Been an ActiveMelody subscriber for almost 3 years & this tops ANY lesson so far. It just doesn't get any better than this JJ Cale/Mark Knopfler mix. Brian - you're THE best!
Compositions like this STAND OUT to me more than the "flashy" ones and if I haven't been a dedicated fan and subscriber for 2 years already, I would have subscribed after hearing this, for sure! I seriously think you are the best online guitar teacher on the Planet, Brian! ❤😃
JoLa F, it was because of Brian's slow blues introduction, that I joined Active Melody, it was easily the best decision of my guitar playing life.. My guitar sounds, well, like I am actually playing !!! Brian is a legend and the best teacher on the Web !!!
This is the kinda groove I love ... cruising in an old classic car ...late at night ... rollin dow the road like John Travolta in pulp fiction... thanks Brian ... cool stuff man.
Sounds like a mix of Cale and Knopfler, which is a perfect blend, in your own 'words' through your fingers... The tone IS in the hands...Good stuff Brian...
Folks just don't know how important JJ Cale was to reviving blues music and all he inspired during the 60's thru 80's. He just never sought the limelight and never wanted to be famous, just wanted to play
I am a little confused. not difficult for me. You say it is in the key of F#m, the chords A, D, E and F#m are all chords you would play in the key of A. So why not A?. great groove though .I love it.
Paul Roberts Technically, it would be in the key of E - The F# would be the 2nd interval (minor), but if playing this with others i would be described as being in F# minor to make it easier

Mr. Cale definitely had his own Sound .Nice Groove. W.
...and knopfler copied it (well)
Outstanding playing and instruction. Very well done. Thanks, mate!
So glad your mixing it up with finger picking Brian and love this piece 🎶💃

Walt Bonczek You should listen to Cale’s song “Fancy Dancer”. You would swear Knopfler is playing on it.
@@bigrickblues1144 I'll keep it in mind... thanks...
Oh yeah, this one is gonna be fun. Way to go (again) Brian.

Sweet. I became a subscriber today. Love the lessons.
Beautifully explained, thank you
Brian, your style is so inspirational and you make it look so easy- thankyou so much.
Love this guy
That intro was amazing
As always awesome Brian thx u🎸🎸
Great tune, do you want to share the chain of sound? I can see you use the neck pickup, but what is the amp setutp and what are the effects? Thanks!
Hi Brian Can I ask what amp , pedals etc your using?
I’m adding this one to my collection of Brian favorites. Are you doing the bass and drums in the rhythm section too?
robert mazzarone yes. But the drums are digital
Nice! Is that a ‘57 reissue?
Jj my fav!❤️
Fingerstyle!
I can hear Mark Knopfler coming through your play...my favorite guitarist but so far I cannot play his style. So thanks for this Inspiration
Stranger360th JJ Cale was Knoplers inspiration of his playing style
Ferds Garcia So, I should also explore J.J. Cale. thx
Very tasty stuff. Thanks
it almost makes me laugh...your examples are always so tasteful and so well phrased...despite simplicity...good lesson for anyone
Note the glasses. Brian's going for the EC look.
Спасибо за разбор :)))
This is a great sound. To me it has a Walter Becker feel to it. Anyway - nice.
OMG hear soooo much Knopfler in this. Is it me or do you all start singing 6 blade knife like I do!
Yea, becouse Knopfler was influenced by JJ Cale :)
That's a bit different from your style of playing, nice to hear something really different from ya.
sweet
Those glasses make you look like Clapton lol
hen bang
you never told us the chords - just the F# minor - then E and we figure B - if you could have played it through just once
