Very true, but I also think that insulting each other and putting each other down isn't part of a normal healthy relationship. Sure, occasionally we lose our tempers but insulting one another should not be a common occurrence. If anything, I'd say it's a major red flag. This is true in both romantic and platonic relationships. Heck, I'd go so far as to say this is true of familial relationships, too! If your relationship has degraded to the point where you're often trading barbs (and not in a friendly teasing sort of way) then you need to take a step back and take a good hard look at your relationship. Both people need to take a moment to review their actions and figure out what is going wrong. It's normal to disagree, and even occasionally argue. It's normal to get mad at each other sometimes, but that anger shouldn't lead you to insult your significant other or purposely sabotage them in some way. If it does then either one or both of you need professional help, or the relationship needs to end.
considering that you wrote a full paragraph on this i will assume i didn't miss something in the tone of you words and point out that I'm pretty sure that's the message of the song already, to stop and make sure the way a given relationship is going is healthy , rather than to unflinchingly go forward in any situation
