      Probably because the actual complicated part is taking it apart, not soaking it in a sink. Tho I didn't like that he took out him disassembling the triggers. Those are probably the most annoying part to take off and put back.

    I would advise to everyone taking apart a controller to use electronic contact cleaner for the contact pads for the buttons on the PCB, the sliders for r and l triggers, and also for the joystick boxes themselves, cleans out any crap and sticky residue and gets rid of any friction causes by the gunk.

      Just be sure to lightly sand the controller down, and use a good lacquer or it will rub off from all the dank gaming.

    • @jimftr
      @jimftr 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      A can of electrical contact cleaner will be able to clean any of the ports, sliders, button pads, joysticks without problems. Just spray and leave to dry, shouldn't take more than a few mins, spray into the joystick boxes on the PCB while moving them around as well.

    @carsondiaz667 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What makes the contacts shiny?

    • @Thalanox
      @Thalanox 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      A flat surface.
      The black bits are made of graphite, which conducts electricity. When these pads are pressed down into the beard membrane, they bridge an electrical connection. If the graphite pads are too smooth, then it's a bit harder for them to make a good connection on the pad. A very flat surface is kind of like an inconsistent all-or-nothing connection, but a matte surface has a bunch of tiny points on it, which have an easier time making a connection when they're pressed down.

    If you had a little scratch on the Gamecube controller, which mine won't come off and used to be in the first player slot and now has to be in the second player slot or just totally scrapped because I've only been playing one player games in the last couple of years, except I just now needed to connect it back for Melee, is there any way to clean that off or paint over that? My Gamecube controller is a silver one and I think my sister might have done it with her nails since I find it's impossible for me to scratch it up like that.

    • @ComicalSatania

      MichaelXD I mean since it's the silver one it's more prone to scratching so you shouldn't really worry about it unless it affects the gameplay

    I like this mans video, but I have a great trick for you all without all the tools and hussle. First put the controller and GameCube system whole in the dishwasher and put it on “power wash” cycle. Then once it’s done turn on your oven to 450 degrees and let it preheat. Once it’s preheated put it in for about 17 minutes or until fire starts. Then your GameCube and controller should be nice and dry and ready to Smash
