@@TheBestUFC hi, I used to just mod controllers and was thinking of selling some, but lately I just haven't really had any motivation for controllers anymore

Awesome video! I'm going to repaint my GameCube controller when my triwing screwdriver comes in the mail. Very excited! I want to customize all of my video game consoles and controllers to match so hopefully all goes well
This was exact same experience I had building my pc. At first I was like "there's no way I could ever do that" and then I watch a video and was like "oh this is really god damn easy I'll do it tomorrow" 😆
Thanks man, this really helped me out! I ordered an old controller from eBay and I was having analog drifting issues and the stick would randomly move by itself. I took it apart an just cleaned and replaced the analog cover with the nunchuck one. That seemed to fix the issue but I didn’t mess around with the stick box. Just cleaned it from the outside. I also scrubbed the motherboard which had collected yellow residue all over which I can only assume is sweat? Regardless, I’ve never taken apart electronics before and this was a really cool experience. I even got my younger sister to help out and we almost enjoyed fixing the controller more so than playing brawl itself
Thank you! My switch GameCube controllers C stick drifts so I have a extra controller (which is 3rd partied) and try to make it feel....Normal. Thanks Again!
It's a used old GameCube controller not the ssb version, and what I mean is that the a b y X buttons don't have the Same click sound as my other ones and not as smooth
Haydn Choi hmmm, you could open your controller and swap out the rubber pad for the a b x y buttons with another controller's if your black controller is the one youre most comfortable with. Some people also cut the rubber to make pressing buttons easier, better shorthops, etc. but i cant exactly recommend that just bc ive never done it. If u do want to try i believe there are some threads on smashboards about it
thank you for this video..all i wanted to do was replace the joystick but all the buttons came off. The most annoying parts was putting up the z button and finding out how to tuck in the wire. also I noticed your pcb is white..mine is green
I feel like those metal pieces on the shoulder button help to guide the buttons down, because on my smash 4 controllers if i dont push them straight in they get wedged on the casing
Anthony D. they totally do. I always make sure the controller Im using has them otherwise they stick when not pressed straight down like you said. its a real shame Nintendo cheaped out and dont include them with new Smash4 controllers
Anthony D. you absolutely can! thats what I do. the new "Smash 4" controller's shoulder buttons have the same mold as the old shoulder buttons meaning the part that holds the metal brace is still there. the only difference is the metal brace itself is gone so if you have old metal braces from past controllers they'll def fit
I have a question the handles on my controller are creaky after I reassembles it. I checked to see if the screw holes were stripped and they weren't is there anything I can do to fix this?
hmm make sure everything is aligned in the controller perfectly, nothing is overlapping triggers in proper place etc. and it should close perfectly! just gotta be careful while closing
I recently bought a GameCube (mine wasn't working) and it came with a controller (off brand, not official, and transparent violet) and the joystick doesn't work properly (when I try to go down it goes up, but only when I try to go down on a straight line, if I try to go down but diagonally, it works fine). If I replace the joystick will it work properly? Or does that issue come from somewhere else?
@zenith SSBM i cannot get the controller to close after replacing the parts. nothing is out of place/in the way as far as i can see. what might i be doing wrong?
Is there any way to weaken the trigger button spring? I'm really weak (physically) and don't do that well with the gamecube trigger buttons when I need to push them all the way down. I'm guessing there is nothing I can do to change it but wanted to ask.
There is! In fact I have a video on my channel here about cutting your trigger springs! Helps weaken them a lot. I do it to all of my Melee controllers
Thanks for the help man!!!!!!! I just bought the short plugs online, I know I already bought them but is the process the same for the wireless GameCube controllers?
if you are buying a triwing screwdriver, do not buy the hex insert cuz it'll be too wide/short to fit into the holes and won't reach the screws. BUY THE ACTUAL SCREWDRIVER
Hi my black GameCube controllers a,b,x,y buttons are stiff and you have to push it down harder than normal ones and doesn't make a click sound, can you help me or give me tips or anything
Hey! The a b x y buttons arnt supposed to click normally so your controller is fine in that regard. There is a rubber insert between the board and buttons and sometimes they are larger or smaller than normal or more/less responsive. This leads to buttons being either more or less responsive than "usual" or easier or harder to press. If its hard to press now, using it often can break it in and cause the gel pad to un-stiffen making it easier to press.
I have a couple questions, why does my custom c stick from bbc not come off? What’s the white spinny thing at the top of bbc screwdriver? And where can I buy trigger braces?

This video is very old but i hope you can help me, recentrly i did this to my black gamecube controller and when i finished closing the controller , i noticed the the dpad doesnt feels the same way as before and the joystick and the c-stick are a litttle bit more inside in the controller ( you can see a bit more space bewteen the joystick snd the controller case than before and feels a bit weird) and im trying to fix this but dont know what to do. Beside the joysticks snd dpad that feels a bit weird, evryother input works prefectly.

Hi zen, I hope you can help me with this, so my R trigger doesn't have the digital input anymore it just goes all the way down now because I use a lot to wavedash and now it shields even if I don't press the R, how can I fix it?
Hey! Just to clarify do you mean the "button" input (the click you hear) or the analog input for the trigger? As in it shields/light shields automatically? If its a part, then its easy to replace, but if its the board, there may be no saving it (unless you want to buy a replacement part and mess with the board to put it on)
+Alxinho959 and you never opened it before? If you did, maybe youre just missing the rubber piece at 7:40? If so you can just replace it with the part from the trigger you dont use (assuming you only use one trigger to wavedash, shield, etc) if not like i said its prob a part on the board that went bad. In which case these days it may or may not be cheaper to just buy a new (smash 4) gamecube controller (around $21) as opposed to all the parts needed to replace
