If it matters, I prefer stain, too. You did a good job. You obviously have experience doing this- follow your own inclination. Looks wonderful. Thank you from Montana, USA. 😃
I am so glad you used stain instead of paint. Please consider using plugs instead of dowels as plugs will work with the grain of the wood and dowels show end grain and stain differently. Try using a damp rag to remove your glue squeeze out as you will not have to sand as much on your glue joints and stain will be more even. Thanks for sharing your work.😊❤
With anything from the early 1900's you really should check the paint for lead. Not something you want to mess with. The finished cabinet is great, Should make it for another 100 years. Thank you for sharing.
All of the light spots in the new stain is from glue residue..wipe glue with damp rag it will look better…I agree that milk paint would truly do this piece justice
Well, I would not select this piece for a restoration project. There is so much furniture that gets thrown away or sold very cheaply that deserves a restoration! This sample is not one of them: it was trash when it was new. I even doubt any pine furniture was made in early 1900's!
People pay lots of money to get this chippy look! Just the drawer is ugly! Cheap pine is not attractive when yellowed or darkened! I would’ve used a light milk paint to match the drawer to the rest! And then clear waxed! A very plain piece otherwise
Instead of staining the piece, you should have used a nice milk paint. It's more or less a farmhouse cabinet and I think that would have fit the piece better... my opinion. Nice job restoring though.
I agree completely. Should have been painted and perhaps distressed to highlight the imperfections. It doesn't look right to me with stain but like you, that is a personal preference.
Absolutely gorgeous, and I missed watching your videos! Thanks from Ohio in the USA!!
Complimenti per il risultato finale.
Bravissimo! 🙏👏👏👏
Beautifully done!
It's your project! Do what you want and thank you for letting me watch!
I always love if a restorer actually restore something

Great piece of history saved!….excellent job!
What a wonderful refinishing job you did on this piece. You certainly are a master at restoring such projects. Love to watch you work.
So beautiful!!
Nice to see you preserved so much of the original material.
That was a very arduous job, however, the result is really eye-pleasing. Just like you, I like sanding very much. Regards from Spain.

it almost looks like a new piece of furniture
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Oxalic acid is easier for stains on wood I’ve heard
👍👏👏👏
Great job. Not a fan of milk paint. Far prefer stain.

1 part wood 1 part glue. 100% old af

Couldn’t disagree more. Natural wood and no paint!
It still has to many imperfections to whitewash…. Stain covers better… it’s not that simple to whitewash old wood…

No. Milk paint is an abomination used only by those who have no skills.
You can spare us with the music and the special sound effects.. I turned it of after the first 10 seconds
Nice.
