    I did this with the Pocket 4k for a couple photo shoots. I just set it to Timelapse like 10fps. Less data and less frames to have to go through. Worked pretty well.

    I've actually been doing this for weddings and corporate events for the last year or so. I've integrated it into my work flow to the point where it's often made having a photographer redundant, so I'm now having this workflow requested by agencies for their events. I've even taken it a step further, where I have custom luts inside of the camera on top of my log profile and can pull the stills directly from the camera itself. Which means that by the end of the event I can send 100+ finalized images to the client through a shared file that I've directly uploaded from my phone.

    Nice video man. Just wanted to add that there’s now a simpler way the export stills. You can now do it from the edit page from the file tab. Just clip “export -> export from current frame”

    I also tried to use my BMPCC6k pro for taking stills out of clips like these lol! one thing I'd like to point out is that you gotta remember to change the shuttle angle/speed to something much faster if you want clear frame grabs. and the lack of a shutter sound when I press the stills button makes me very nervous, I really don't like that button lol I'd rather just take short clips. :/

    I had this product photography gig once, and guess what? No still camera around! So, I had to improvise and used my 6K PRO to snap studio shots by hitting that photo button. The clarity is there when the subject's in focus, but gotta be real, my old a6400 still owns the game for product pics. Zoom into the 6K PRO shots, and you'll see the resolution takes a hit, though they're decent enough for the web.

      100% accurate right here. If I need to crop on my EOS R photos then it’s fine and holds up. Doing things like masking individual elements also works better on “normal photos” but yeah if you’re going for a specific filmic vibe I think using cinema camera stills is awesome haha

      I'm a big fan of that cinematic vibe in automotive photography, especially like what Lucid Motors pulls off. Ever wondered how they nail that look? Is it all about playing with studio lights, shutter speed and color grading on a regular still camera, or are they throwing in captures from heavy-duty cinema cameras like RED or ALEXA?@@initialfocus

    You might want to drop the Pocket from the name like BM did to clean up confusion and reduce the mouth full that you have to say 🤭

    • @WWBIII
      @WWBIII 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Agree with this 100% - this is not a crop sensor "Pocket Cinema Camera". That's why BM dropped the word "Pocket" from the name.
      I almost missed this video because it has "Pocket" in the title (when searching for full frame BMCC 6K videos, I usually add "-Pocket" to filter out BMPCC 4K/6K results).

    So I've discovered that Blackmagic updated the Full Frame so now when shooting stills, the format is now in BRAW as opposed to DNG like it was before. Still can't view the pics in camera (I hope they'll fix that one day) but it's cool to know that now I can take pictures in Braw.

    Great video! Why record at 24 and not at 36? for stills motion blur would be undesired. I use my 2.5k and use it for stills. cdng is very friendly in this way.

    Been watching your vids as I've just picked a BMCFF and have found them to be very helpful especially the Lidar one. Would you be so kind as to share your colour settings when importing video into Da vinci? Been having a tough time in finding a thorough guide for the BMCFF. Thanks again and keep up the great work! :) Newly subscribed.

    • @initialfocus
      @initialfocus  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ayeee! Thanks for subscribing! I’m actually creating an in depth guide into the pocket 6K pro and Full Frame right now! I’m doing a presale right now on my site for $29. No videos are in there currently but once done it’ll be like $150. Videos start going up this week if you wanna join the fun group over there haha
      Self plug aside I keep the color settings as default honestly and for corrections I use the Blackmagic LUTs unless I’m going creative. Then I love Film Convert Nitrate and MotionVFX LUTs.
      Hope that helps! 🙌🏼

    This is what I pretty much do on my RED the last nine years

    Did you use 180º shutter angle, or did you crank it at all to try and capture more sharper moments as you filmed? I've been considering trying this and have only theorized that I could do that to improve my capture rate, so to speak.

    • @restlake
      @restlake 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      in my experience pulling stills
      from video, a 90° shutter helps significantly to
      reduce motion blur and increase sharpness, yes edit: whoops meant 90

    • @initialfocus
      @initialfocus  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @restlake reverse that actually. A 360 degree shutter is a slower one. If you want sharper less motion blur you can go like 90 or below.

    • @restlake
      @restlake 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@initialfocus ah right thanks for the correction! shorter rotation/gate open equals less degrees 😅 (as translated to the film meaning)

    The other photographer that came up in a few photos, were they using a kitted out iPhone??? Curious how those turned out in conjunction with the beautiful shots you got

    • @initialfocus
      @initialfocus  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good eye!! Yes that was my wife filming with my iPhone 15 pro max with the Beastgrip DOF MK3 adapter that’s currently in kickstarter phase. All the bts shots were using that setup! Video on that setup coming this weekend.

    Grabbing stills from the 6k pro in 6k Resolution converts to how many MP once exported ? Printing these for lets say normal photo album would give decent quality ? Thanks and great content on your channel

    • @initialfocus
      @initialfocus  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Online it says about 24.6megapixels is an exported still. Seems like it’s plenty of quality for printing.

    Is this the pocket or the full frame? I thought they took “pocket” out of the full frame name.

    I can’t figure out how you overlaid your wheels
    over a full size preview at 8:12 - do you mind explaining?

    • @initialfocus
      @initialfocus  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The whole thing is recording of my computer. I layered two of the same screen recording moments. Bottom layer I cropped to focus on the preview pane. Top layer I cropped the primaries and moved it over the preview. Lower opacity of top layer. Boom. Done 👍🏼

      @restlake 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@initialfocus that’s a really cool idea and thank you for explaining! I was really hoping that was a feature in Resolve I could try out 😔😅

    Cool post! How big are the files in megapixels from the 6k full frame? 🤔 20, 24... ? Also did you get the still from the footage, shooting at 24 FPS or higher ones to get crisper files? thanks!

    The cinema 6k FF is NOT a pocket camera by name. You’re gonna get a lot of false leads if you don’t correct your main title here.
