The other 95% of men have normal and below standards. But these men are basically invisible to most women...hence the skewed perception of the total male population. Yup. I did it in the early 2000s and it was awful even then. Most of them didn't message me back. I had a decent job, not a bad looking guy in terms of what people perceive as handsome, and just getting a message back was an ordeal. If you're a hetero male in the US and trying online dating you better be in that top 10 or 20% in looks / money. Otherwise it a ghost town. You're invisible to them. It was very humbling for me. Painful and humbling. I did have some successes, though. But considering the amount of work it took I probably wouldn't do it again if I were single again.
