One part of fishing videos I like best is seeing new and interesting areas, whether it be out on saltwater, on lakes or ponds, or smaller inland streams. Keep exploring and finding cool spots!

Nice one Nev. Glad to see you exploring some trout fishing. I was wondering when this would happen... hehe. I didn't went through all the comments, so maybe someone did already give these insights, but here I go.
From experience, even a UL gear like yours (like perch and bass UL kind of gear) is generally too stiff in the middle part for trout fishing (I'm talking from VERY frustrating experienceS...), which is mostly why (IMO) you pulled the hooks out on so many. Trout rods are generally loading deeper in the blank during the fight (which doesn't mean they are noodles or lack sensitivity btw). In your case, the way you set the drag become then critical. To loose and you won't hook up well, too tight and you may pull the hooks out, especially if they jump. With stiffer rods, the use of "stretchy" line may help, like 4 to 6 lb strait fluoro (one to spool up, not one for leader) of even mono (but you will loose a lot of "feel" there).
Single hooks may also be a good idea. You might miss more bites (more noticeably so if the fish are a tad picky or shy), but once they are pegged, they should stay on better. Of course, this will change the balance of your lure, which should be taken into account (an SP with trebles will likely become a slow float with singles). It also better when you want to release your catch.
I think also that the size of your bait was "sorting" the size of the fish. If you were looking for quality, then you did just right. For numbers, you can drop to a 40 to 50 mm lure. And of course, sinking minnows, spoons and spinners (maybe not as glamorous as hard bodies, but which can be pretty technical too) come in handy to fish deep pools...
hope this helps. Can't wait to see your next trip, wherever this will be.
Thanks for all your good work. Not being born in Australia, it helps me heaps!!
Well done on your first trout trip tho, you did really well!!

Nice work nev good to see you getting into the trout. Tip from me on dropped fish, if you’re using treble hooks that could be the reason. Swapping to double lure hooks would be my recommendation if using hard bodies. Nice meeting you out at salt water creek the other day too!

Grats on the Trout man, them Browns are healthy as. Another really good Trout lure is the Blue Fox Vibrax spinners, I personally use the Black and Green one and a good spot a long the rivers is where it goes from fast water to slow because they'll feed off the bugs when they come out of the faster water.

Something I learned about trout way later than I should have ,,is you can find huge trout in tiny streams...and I mean steams that are only 50 to 100 cm across...
I think maybe because no one thinks you would get fish that large in such a small stream...I've caught trout over 70cm in creeks that are only 50cm wide.
