I’ve had several coaches, and tips given over last few years. I’ve always rolled the club and could never stop. The “thumbs up” is something I know have as my only swing thought, and my game is better than ever. My favourite video 👍🏻🙏
Danny you are the best... I use to shoot in the 80s consistently in my late 20s early 30s then I got married bought a house and playing was not a priority...after my life settled I started playing again only to find out I completely lost my swing... Took lessons and was just about to put the clubs away for good until I found your videos a little over 2 years ago... I now shoot in the 90s much more consistently... And trending in the right direction.. my goal next year is to break 90. I accidentally figured out this this drill on my own by putting several videos of yours together... The only difference is I put my hands together no club and move my shoulder and hips together. This drill is spot to improve takeaways... Which IMHO is the single most thing after the grip. Thanks again mate.
Love the way you first explain, give drills, and most importantly, give us common faults to be aware of when doing the drills. So important when trying to learn remotely. Thank you for all you do Danny.
Danny I first started watching your channel about 2 years ago when I watched your video on take away. It helped so much but often in golf you can creep back into old ways but your video and the thumb into your sternum is a brilliant drill to keep my takeaway on form. Thanks
Awesome, straight talking, simple to understand instruction. During lockdown you debunked rotation myth for me, massive. Realising it was simply a backwards & forwards motion was an epiphany. Today, the watch face moment has, I am convinced, cured my slice? The tendency to come over the top, or across the ball to correct my rolling the wrists on my takeaway. Something which, until you demonstrated the watch face pointing toward the ceiling, I wasn't aware I was doing. Bring it on Danny, utterly brilliant stuff.
@@DanielMaude I hope I'm am right to think that eliminating club face roll is going to eliminate the slice? I was breaking my wrists early on the takeaway this was causing my wrists to roll away. I've stopped breaking the wrists is that ok?
I live in Canada 🇨🇦, this weekend is my last round. I’ve religiously watched, and put to practice your teachings. I started out this year in the hundreds, most of my work pals didn’t want to golf with me, because I was always lagging. Thanks to your expert advice I shoot the 80s consistently.. and everyone wants to play with me now. Thanks Danny. Looking forward to next season, and doing your drills all winter long.
Just entered 6 week lockdown here in Ireland, so no golf, why I don’t know, the experts predicted a 2nd wave anyway. Haven’t heard of 1 infection from playing on the course all year. Actually does anyone know anyone who said that they got a flu from playing golf over the last 20 years. Anyway Liu best tip of many from Danny is “down and around “. Has worked brilliantly for me. Now I can’t tell you exactly which video that was but hitting crisp iron shots is a clue.
Having been away from the game for some time after my folks passed, I recently rediscovered an enjoyment to go play. In looking for help that was easy to understand and use, I came across Danny and his channel. Using this lesson and hip rotation lesson, I found simple visuals that helped me so much. I’m not looking to be a pro, but just to enjoy a round even with faults. Theses two lessons helped me achieve that recently on a round with a friend who kindly noted how well I was striking the ball. Thank you Danny for helping me and making the golf swing easy to understand and practice.
Great job again. My go to swing thought I’d like to share with you is pretending there’s two eyes drawn on the clubface and they’re staring at the back of the ball at address. As the club goes back in the takeaway, just keep those eyes staring at the back of the ball for as long as possible. I do this for every club in the bag and it really helps. Cheers Danny, and just had to share with you that in 30 years of golfing this has been my best year yet thanks to you.
This is perhaps the best single tip (OK, two tips!) for novice and not so novice struggling golfers I have ever seen. Always very clearly explained with straightforward, simple steps. I like the metaphor of the dominoes. This is really a crucial first step. Thanks, Danny!! Now, I just have to put it into practice!
As ever, some of the best videos on the fundamentals of golf. Whenever I start getting slightly out of sync I come back to your crisp clear instruction…
Hi Danny, I switched to right-handed golf last season and have been struggling with my swing. After watching and practicing this drill and took it to the golf course yesterday I can't believe the improvement!! I added 30 to 40 yards to my drive and so easy to remember. Thanks for keeping things simple. My golfing partners were shocked by the improvement and asked what did I do. I told them about you and your simplistic approach. Again, well done! Can't wait to get out again this week and play. Peter from Ottawa, Canada
I’ve watched this video a few times now and think it’s one of the best ones to not only be more consistent but too also hit the ball properly and straighter.
I am 80, have just recovered from a shoulder replacement and returned to golf after 5 years away. Having forgotten everything, poor golf swing included, I decided it was a good time to learn to do it correctly. Thanks to your instruction, I am now hitting the ball farther (225/230 off the tee) and more consistently than ever. Thank you.
Again one of many excellent lessons by in my opinion the best online golf instructor... Danny the problem I always struggle with is initiating the downswing. Sooner or later in my golf swing I always fight coming over the top to where it becomes so bad I start shanking the ball particularly with short irons. It’s like a virus 😁😁
Your takeaway videos have literally transformed my game. I watched the one you did before this and used it and it just clicked for me. My driver slice was fixed and irons are very consistent now. I can keep my club face square now, amazing. Thank you. Keep up these tips.
Danny, I played on Friday and know I was rolling my hands. Too many low trajectory shots with big draws or hooks.. Then, as I got frustrated, was swinging too hard and smothering the ball. I needed this reminder. Thank you! You are the best out there by far.
Danny, your videos are the best video teaching aids out there. So clear and simply explained, with visualizations and ways of feeling that work. THANKS!
hi Danny, after so long not knowing what went wrong, your videos helped me to finally get control in my backswing! thank you sooo much for making golf way more fun. it was a bit of a struggle to get those wrong moves out but it helped 300% with my consistency! For me personally, you're the best teacher I've had! Greetings from the Netherlands
Since I retired a little over a year ago, I've struggled with hand position and wrist action. I've watched videos about supination and rolling the forearms, videos about holding lag, and videos about cocking wrists. The only results I've gotten are confusion and too many swing thoughts. Thank you, again, Danny for simplifying the swing, clarifying the use of the wrists and arms, and putting me back on the right track.
Game changer. It makes me feel like I am taking the club away outside the line. Like pushing my left shoulder forward and to the right. It is having the courage and focus to take this to the course.
Great tip Danny! I’ve seen a lot of videos lately about this takeaway move. I just got back from the range and totally focused on this take away move. I’ve been using this and hitting 1/2 to 3/4 back swings. With a good turn through the ball and center strikes the ball flies just fine. Don’t need anymore power. Thanks again
Excellent distillation of the take away move. Made total sense and I’ll use it today on my driver swing. That’s where my inconsistency lays. Thank you!
I am amazed at how other professional athletes, that play golf when interviewed, will say it is the most difficult thing to be good at that they've ever done! What's really excellent about your instruction is that you don't complicate things. As I've mentioned many times, you relate what helps your game in laymen's terms. Please don't ever fix what ain't broke! Cheers Mate!
Danny, to me you are the best instructor on the internet. I would like to know your thoughts, and subsequent possible instruction, for 67 year olds like me who have been athletic all their lives, and need a full left knee replacement for a right handed golfer. What I've read is the stress on the replacement knee is unmanageable. Right now I lift my left heel on take away for rotation, and do the 'one, .. and two' on the follow through. I still drive over 250 yards, and without golf, well. Keep the bone on bone knee, or .. Steve from Florida
HI there, I coach many who have had knee replacements and they all seem absolutely fine, in fact better than ever as they can now put pressure on the knee without the pain. Im no expert however, I don't know whether there are different forms of knee injuries that would require different treatment

Hi Danny. Once again a brilliant video.. thank you! Have always suffered from a flat shoulder backswing but this drill really helps with the correct pivot.. Will work hard on this. At 73 yrs of age I'm out to prove you Can teach an old dog new tricks!

That’s exactly what I’ve been doing WOW WOW ! Cannot wait to practise and then take it out to the course many many thanks, your my joint favourite u tuber . You and Liam are fab !!!
This is perfect timing for what I need to focus on. I have such a habit of over swinging and breaking my elbow and wrists causing the club to wrap behind my head - seeing it out of the corner of my eye and then I take my eyes off the ball. I know when I keep my swing compact I hit much cleaner but when I get out on the course I go back to trying to kill it. Can’t wait to hit the driving range and try this. Thx Danny!
Love this - really gets the core/torso working! I tend to be very arm-based in my backswing, these exercises are going to help me refocus to getting the torso coming with the arms. The first exercise with the thumb in the chest really tells the story on the core. Like you said, get a rhythm with it and it will become fluid and to not worry if you don't get all the way around like you have in the video. Sometimes we don't want to work at getting more mobile - but we have to if we want to have that fluidity that makes it all happen. The exercises you are teaching are great core stretchers that works the tension of the core to where when the body comes around there is an explosion of energy that correlates into an effortless swing. I have fond memories when of certain strikes of the clubs that sent the ball down the line and now I know why - I "happened" on this process and did not not know what I did....LOL! A quick question - would doing the opposite arm (lead arm thumb in chest - fingers on the trail bicep) help with the follow-through of the downswing?
What a lesson Danny love them you make it so easy for us amateurs to go on the range or the course and put it in action and I thank you for that 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This has been a problem of mine for a long time by just moving my arms and not in time with the chest and shoulders. I have to say after watching one of you're videos on the take away a couple of weeks ago. My swing has greatly improved and as a result I'm getting more distance. Thanks
Thanks for this Danny. Apologies if you've already covered this, but one thing I'd like to see you cover is starting the down swing. I often feel as though I'm losing the plot at the top of the swing, sometimes even to the point of getting stuck!
@@DanielMaude Thanks for taking the trouble to sending me this. It's much appreciated. In some ways your teaching style reminds me of the late, great John Jacobs who did a TV series of golf lessons probably almost 40 years ago now. Very simple, logical but effective. Thanks again.
Danny great video as usual. I get what you are saying in this instruction. What I wish you could go into detail in the next part from where you left off here. The hinging and folding off arm and writs to get the club on plane behind you. I feel like I can do what you are doing here but then I roll the club from there to get the club to the top of the backswing.
Danny, thanks so much for this tip. It made a tremendous difference in my consistency and actually allowed me to swing in a much better tempo without over-swinging.
This drill has helped me feel im letting go of club through impact , can feel the whip, as I've been doing last weeks drill and I couldn't let go done this drill few times and got that letting go feeling .haven't tried it with ball yet.Cheers Danny 🙏👍👍
I love the part when you say don’t cheat by using your arms. Sometimes I think that power comes from how far the club goes back. Once again, Danny, you are spot on and you explain it so well. Thank you for a great lesson!
Good morning Danny, This was a great video and an exercise on the take-away that is really applicable and beneficial to me at this time. Many thanks as usual.
Great video Danny. Just played a very wet 10 holes - apart from a lost ball on the 7th I played bogey golf. Now that, for me, is a massive step forward ...... cheers ..... 😃 And 5 up after 10 against Catherine is unheard of 🤣
Playing what is possibly my last round of the season tomorrow before the course closes and the snow arrives for five months. I’m going to be working on this on the practice range before the round. I’m hopeful it’s going to help with timing and my little collapse at the top that I’m struggling with. Thanks again Danny!
Superb again Danny! I’ve always cracked my wrists at takeaway then my left elbow swings out from the body looks horrible,,your videos are my go to when my bad habit come back cheers 🥃
@@DanielMaude After videoing my swing I noticed I was rolling my wrists as in your diagram No3. This drill has changed a massive fault! Keep up the great work Danny 👍

Great suggestion! Have you seen this th-cam.com/video/j1NCiRuUYLo/w-d-xo.html
@@DanielMaude Thanks for taking the trouble to sending me this. It's much appreciated. In some ways your teaching style reminds me of the late, great John Jacobs who did a TV series of golf lessons probably almost 40 years ago now. Very simple, logical but effective. Thanks again.
This channel has given me the most reliable tips with my gold game. Keep up the great work.
Thank you Gregory, so good to hear
@@DanielMaude I'm going to keep recommending your content to anyone who needs it. Any vids on how to make consistent contact on downhill/uphill lies?
@@gregorycampbell9386 not yet, but I had planned on filming it before lockdown.
@@DanielMaude OK great ill be on the look out for that.
Enjoy 👍
Straight forward and clearly explained thumbs up !!
Really kind George
Danny great video as usual. I get what you are saying in this instruction. What I wish you could go into detail in the next part from where you left off here. The hinging and folding off arm and writs to get the club on plane behind you. I feel like I can do what you are doing here but then I roll the club from there to get the club to the top of the backswing.
The practice plans are great. Thank You
Really liked this easy to follow explanation and the drills👍
Thanks for getting in touch Jennifer, appreciate the feedback
Danny, thanks so much for this tip. It made a tremendous difference in my consistency and actually allowed me to swing in a much better tempo without over-swinging.
Great tips Danny. Best I've seen the takeaway explained. 👍👍
Thank you Noel, really happy to help
This drill has helped me feel im letting go of club through impact , can feel the whip, as I've been doing last weeks drill and I couldn't let go done this drill few times and got that letting go feeling .haven't tried it with ball yet.Cheers Danny 🙏👍👍
Great to hear! let me know how you get on
Thanks for the great video and drills. Hopefully your next video will describe the next step in the swing, the transition and downswing.
Super, Danny, must practice now!
Enjoy your practice
Thanks Danny Seem to have a permanent problem with rolling the hands at the start Will give it a try 👍
Let me know how you get on
I love the part when you say don’t cheat by using your arms. Sometimes I think that power comes from how far the club goes back. Once again, Danny, you are spot on and you explain it so well. Thank you for a great lesson!
My pleasure Lance, really happy the golf lesson resonated with you
Great tip the right fingers on the left arm Danny it's one I've not seen before. Look forward to your Saturday tips keep them coming cheers
Will do Dave, have a great weekend
I too can say kudos! This tip and the thumbs up tip haz improved the consistency of my swing probably 80%,
Good morning Danny, This was a great video and an exercise on the take-away that is really applicable and beneficial to me at this time. Many thanks as usual.
My pleasure! All the best Rich
Great video Danny. Just played a very wet 10 holes - apart from a lost ball on the 7th I played bogey golf. Now that, for me, is a massive step forward ...... cheers ..... 😃 And 5 up after 10 against Catherine is unheard of 🤣
Amazing! So good to hear well done buddy
Very normal Jose, this should really help
Great video Danny, it makes a lot of sense not to over swing which in turn should give us more consistency.
Absolutely Mathew 👍
Excellent drill...going to practice this today indoors as weather is foul.
Enjoy your practice
@@DanielMaude After videoing my swing I noticed I was rolling my wrists as in your diagram No3. This drill has changed a massive fault! Keep up the great work Danny 👍
I can’t wait to try this, seems very simple and straightforward! Thx so much.
What a simple method great stuff dan
Glad you enjoyed it Gary, thanks for letting me know
This is a brilliant lesson Danny. Describes my golf swing exactly! Trying to hit the ball too hard. Thanks so much, this will make a real difference!
Really hope so Paul, good luck

That is why your subscribers keep increasing.
So nice of you Alan, really happy to help
Never disappoint danny always make good points
Thanks for all the support Andrew
Great video, I’m clearly going too far in my backswing and my arms are disconnecting from by body and are no longer coordinated. I look forward to trying this at the golf simulator this weekend!
You have just pointed out the problems i was having in my round yesterday. Longing for Monday to get back on the⛳ course and try and sort things out.
Great advice Danny
Great video Danny
