      Thanks for watching! Yes, I'd imagine acquiring some of these glues across the pond may not be possible. But most acid free glues should do the trick!

      @@flowerpressstudio Hi I've used PVA glue, a few different kinds and the flowers always lost there colour and looked bleached. Is this because it would have acid in the formula and it needs to be acid free. Thank you Charley

    So glad to see that you offer this free video. I used to make these about 50 years ago and although they were beautiful they always eventually faded over the years. Not sure what type of glue I used back then in the 70s but maybe that had something to do with it. Thanks for the class and I look forward to more!!

    • @flowerpressstudio

      Ahhh fading..organic material like flowers will always fade. It doesn’t matter the glue you used. The pigment will fade unless you color correct with paint or something but we like the organic process of letting flowers be. A faded look is still beautiful to us. Change happens with life so why not flower art. 🙂

      Thank you! I appreciate you getting back to me. I don't particularly mind that they fade either but I was jut wondering if there was a new glue that prevent it. Again, thanks!

      I would say almost all flowers we get are now from local flower farms. Whether we go to their farm or a farmers market. Much better variety, better product. Also our skin is the biggest organ on our body and all imported flowers probably have been doused with pesticides and it’s not fun touching those so much. 🙂

    Thank you for the video! I was thinking that you would use spray adhesive when a piece is finished on the whole piece just to make sure everything stays in place. Not necessary if you follow the steps in the video? Also, if you're gluing to paper is it common to from over top with glass to make sure things stay in place and that nobody touches the flowers or do most folks leave it open and just frame around the perimeter with backing?

    • @flowerpressstudio

      I think it’s good to throw glass on top just as you would frame anything but you could let it breathe and not put glass on. I think most do though. It’s up to the owner of it I suppose.i don’t spray the adhesive after the finished piece is done. One could try and see how it goes though . Everything is an experiment 🙂🙂

  • @AtelierBritta

    I used the glue you suggested and glued a flower directly on glass. After some time, the spots where I applied the glue have actually discolored to a brown (especially the leaves). Is there a way to stop that? Could it be the flowers I’m using?

    • @flowerpressstudio

      It could be lots of things. Foliage is tough. You can experiment in how you apply it. Even thin coat is good but also sometimes bad. It does depend on the foliage and flowers. We use that glue on every flower and as you can see we have great results. All of this is trial and error and will take some time to get right. Make sure your foliage is dry. It can be deceiving with its water content.

    • @flowerpressstudio

      I would say try it if you like. We haven’t ever done it but I would test it before applying it to everything. Make sure it’s not adding water back to the flower you know 🙂🙂

    Hi Keith, I am in the process of taking the pressed flower course and am starting to make some cards with the pressed flowers from our flower farm in Pelzer, South Carolina. I have a question. Is there a type of glue or gloss that I can use to cover the flowers to preserve and protect them longer. Have not done any pictures in frames at this time. Any help or direction you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Beth Ann

    • @flowerpressstudio

      We have heard other pressers put modge podge to help seal them but we have never done this before so it’d be a good thing for you to experiment on. Just take one dried flower, throw some modge podge on it and see what happens. Don’t over think it I guess. Just do a little trial by error type of thing. Sorry I can’t be more helpful with that. 🙂

    Thank you for this useful video. Do you use a fixative spray after gluing the flowers?

    • @flowerpressstudio

      Hi! We do not. I have heard of some people using hairspray to keep all the itty bitty moving bits of the flowers in place. but I think you'd have to spray all of the flowers before they are glued down, so that means you'd have to know the exact flowers you are using in a piece, which oftentimes, we do not. Also, some people use an acrylic floral spray to help keep the colors of the flowers longer than they would naturally last (even though I think they would still fade over time), but honestly, we have a hard time just using the spray glue in this video as it just feels so wasteful! It's something I thought about experimenting with just for the purpose of making a video on it, even if it's not something we do and probably won't ever do :)

    I don’t know about the paste but if it is not heat sensitive might be better than hot glue. I live in a hot humid area and hot glue is not permanent here a few warm humid days and what ever you have hot glued will hit the floor.

  • @agnieszkarorty

    Thank you for this video:) I have noticed, that if I don't glue whole petals they could like float because of too much moisture (especially delicate ones) and the second thing - I have noticed that some people glue all pressed flowers as they are finishing their work. What do you think about that?

    • @flowerpressstudio

      we have noticed that with rose petals. In terms of them curling up if they’re not glued down to the edges. Once we have all of our flowers glued down we do go back through the piece and will sometimes apply more glue where necessary. I think it also depends on how you frame it. If you put glass right over the flowers, that’s often enough to hold them down flat but if you’re leaving a bit of space between the glass and flowers, then you may want to glue a bit more to the edges. I think whether you glue as you go or lay them all out and then glue is very much personal preference.
