- Apparently, I find myself once again amidst a rush of unbound creativity. Such fleeting downpours of inspiration must, in my opinion, always be unleashed and put to good use.
In this case, the vast majority of this fugue has been finished today. The subject was inspired by a theme found in a videogame released relatively recently: Lies of P, which I have grown quite fond of (the few weekends I can return home to play it, that is).
As a sidenote, from what I have read, trills on the pedalier part, albeit difficult to perform, are still executable with sufficient technique. The piece would have probably been more practically fitting for organ, due to the fact that pedal harpsichords are rather scarce nowadays. Still, taking into consideration the tastes of my audience, I felt it was best to use my customary harpsichord soundbanks anyway.
Regardless, please share, critique, like, and if you are feeling particularly generous, consider subscribing for more content like this as well! Thanks for watching. - เพลง
this was great! my only suggestion is to write the pedal part in octave-below bass clef so that it sounds lower by an octave. the best examples of pedal harpsichords have a 16' and an 8' string and can play down to written C below the staff.
Keep writing! I'm enjoying it
Very inventive harmony which you make work perfectly. Very nice, though I'd say even for an organ player, this pedal part would probably be extremely difficult!
Regarding the pedal part, I like to picture it as actually dancing a gigue on the organ pedalier (since the characteristic rhythms of said dance are all over the place). Though of course, as you said, it would be way more difficult than I'm putting it to be.
I love how the subject sounds
This one may have some of my favorite moments from your output, i think instruments with the pedal keyboard may suit your writing well
Good to have the performance on an acoustic instrument in mind, even if you have to use a synthesized version (and this one is not too shabby).
I ADORE THIS OMG
Wonderful! I really like the subject 🤩
Faultless.
Have you ever played a harpsichord? I would love to see you playing one in a video
I have played on a scarce handful of regular harpsichords, though unfortunately I have access to none as of currently.
Pedal harpsichords, on the other hand, are so exotic that I could only ever dream of seeing one in person, let alone be allowed to play it myself.
@@FugaxContrapunctus Imagine playing a TRIPLE MANUAL PEDAL HARPSICHORD.
There is already a triple manual, so someone has to invent it.
This is great!
Excellent ..
Do you recomend any books to learn basic baroque harmony? I want to compose fugues one day
I'd recommend André Gédalge's Traité de la Fugue, an online translation of which can be found in OpenBU, the free access section of the Boston University Library. For a more specific and stylistically focused approach, partimento treatises by Fenaroli and Rameau's theory on tonal harmony should yield substantial insight into the compositional perspectives and techniques as they were described at the time.
There are also plenty of online lesser-format resources here on TH-cam, for example. Still, as I'm largely self-taught, my golden rule still remains "Practice makes perfect".
@@FugaxContrapunctus I will check out the Gédalge one. Finally my french will be actually userful
Which notation tool do you use
Mostly MuseScore 3, though I have tried MuseScore 4 on a handful of my other videos because of its selectively high-quality soundbanks.
