- Most emotional border crossing I've done. Quite incredible how a good day can turn to bad so easy then turn to a wonderful day again with a simple smile and hospitality from a stranger. or 'Jordan Peterson has the answer to this dilemma?'
Wow, Tony. I am the first... BTW, Little Chinese everywhere, her name is Yan.
Thanks i've just discovered her channel. what a wonderful youtuber.. Yan! I'll remember that. thank you. 🤝👍
@Mr-Tony-888 She is also one of my favorite YTers
You met a wonderful family, that mighty nice of them to give you a ride.👍👏
Yes! so nice.
The people in Nanning, and Guangxi as a whole, are mostly of the Zhuang ethnicity. My wife is of that nationality. Nanning is where I have lived full time since 2020 and part time previous from 2004 to 2019 while commuting during school holiday periods.
That bridge, I think, is called the Friendship bridge. It used to be a refugee camp for those who fled Vietnam during the war.
Wow! thank you for the info. Hope my vid wasn't offensive. Love to visit Nanning at some point. Thank you for watching
I think the kid tried to tell you he had a new schoolbag. So random, I know. That's how kids are 🙂
Yep! so right
You can try the ferry from Xiamen to Kinmen in Taiwan, it only takes 30 minutes. There are far fewer people on that route.
Interesting option, thank you 🤞
Maybe that border is mostly used for local trade, they barely see any "vacation guy" which makes them feel "somewhat suspicious"
I'm Dutch, you should have seen their faces.
Thanks for this video Tony, am about planned crossing border from Dongxing to VN. But, have second thought about it after watching this video.
Just my experience, it may be me? I am NOT an influencer trying to suggest you change your plans. All the best. 👍
Where I live in Nanning lots of kids use push bikes/ mountain bikes to go to school
That's nice. Good to hear. ❤
She’s a keeper.
I understand your thoughts sir.🤔
Yes Gweilo60 resides in Nanning usually. My partner is also from there and we will be visiting again for 8 weeks Jan-March.
From the station Nanning looked so modern, yet I remember Gweilo60 always in small back streets drinking a lot. I should visit the interior of Nanning, it looks interesting. Although I don't drink. Thanks for writing.
@@Mr-Tony-888 He often walks around the older part of the central city, however Nanning has exploded in size in the last 10 years I understand, and much of it, including the East Station, are all very new. it is however known for being very green with many lovely parks. Best wishes.
You can see the difference between how a Chinese eats rice from a bowl and how a foreigner does it in the video. Also how practically every picking of side dish is eaten with rice - foreigner eats side dish and rice separately.
Great observation, yeah different for sure. 👍
哎呀 从广西离开了 去那旅行 帮我去看看中国台湾 被他们糟蹋成什么样子了
I'll make a guess why you were given so much 'trouble' at the border...
1. You are crossing from a location that isn't usual for Tourist that are non Chinese or non Vietnamese.
2. Very obviously you are doing a VISA run... Which in some country/places... Its rather illegal. Basically, people at least stay away for a few days before attending to re-enter... You did not even stay the night 😂🤣
Well... Whatever the reason, glad you are safe and nothing serious happened.
100% agree with you. I also suspect they thought something similar. A few days or even weeks away next time. 🤝
China is not immigration country, guess that's why you have an uneasy feeling while crossing the border.
@@garylee9668 Well, US is an immigrant country, yet many don't feel comfortable going through its immigration procedures
@@DDDrumpf Bloody good reply.
Yeah! maybe.🤔🤔
The US and Mexico crossing would take you more than 4 hours!! Well In a car, not sure the walk crossing
Good one 🥴
Gweilo 60 a popular youtuber from canada is from nanning and thats why chinese people not looking at you.
Couldn't understand why the name seemed popular and yet I had never been there. Thanks for the conformation And thanks for watching.
@@Mr-Tony-888 Iet me tell you why, you don't have a girl friend, this is not real living.
@@jxmai7687 Let me tell you: I agree 🤝
I never thought you looked like Joe Biden until you said that.
Yeah! Ive had a few comments suggesting that. I thought they were just windups ?
in the US there is
sean is cute
Yeah a nice guy. His dream is to travel, wish hime the best.
being 6 weeks in Nanning we need to refresh every 15 days the free chinese visum intraince. so we cros that border 4 times in 2 month. very close to the border you have small vacation shops, (were you can order online earlier). include the visa for vietnam. we had a 5 stars hotel all inc. with boat trip and bus trip to Hanoi. Back to China was very difficult because the douane did not speak good english and i also not, they never heard about the 15 days free visum so they need to check a lot before i could go. Thanks for watching and your interesting comment. I wanted to go to Hanoi but the crossing was so bad I instantly changed my mind. Silly I know. So! anther time.
My wife is Chinese and had found out that the so-called holiday shops near the border are actually visa offices that guide you very easily past all the lines of waiting people through the Vietnam border.
In the border building there are people with cards around their necks who have special permission to commute between the border, you can find them in the departure halls at small tables where they guide you to and where the papers and stamps are arranged on the spot for a fee, and they take you privately through customs, all "ordinary" people just have to wait a while, I was very surprised.
I as a foreigner who cannot read or speak Chinese, English or Vietnamese could not have known without my wife.
Going back to China was a challenge, fortunately Chinese speaking people who were in line helped.
The people who had hoped me earlier from the holiday office were not allowed to enter via the Chinese border so I had to travel that way separately, when I came outside they were waiting for me again to guide me further.
