  • Recently I was invited by a local organization in Vancouver, Canada to give a speech in Chinese (this was an online event due to Covid). There are many foreigners who speaks Chinese and I was honored to share my China story in Mandarin.
In my speech I discuss how my China story began, why I went to China, my work experiences in China, life as an expat in China, studying Chinese in China, how I met my wife in China, why I left China, and my current work in Canada, and my future goals with my TH-cam Channel. I hope you enjoy the video and thank you all for the continued support!

I am studying Mandarin for a while but not even close to having a decent conversation. The hate that many people are showing towards China and ghe Chinese people is not justified. I am from South Africa 🇿🇦 and we too have our un called for race problems. All I can say is that I love China and its people. We have a small Chinese community in South Africa and its growing. I do believe to be able to speak Mandarin I need to befriend a Chinese native.

Agreed, but there are people on YT that speak over 100 languages at this level, look them up if you don't believe me. And I mean speak them to the point to where, when they are talking to native speakers, those natives not only express utter amazement at their truly native level fluency, but pick out the accent of the area that a Chinese (or tens of other of their known languages) speaker would be from to have that accent.
I'm not arguing your point, at all, especially since I suck at learning foreign languages, just pointing out that while this IS very impressive, it is not even remotely the pinnacle of this type of capability. And the speakers I am talking about do it WITHOUT total immersion.
