- Recently I visited the Vancouver Chinese Radio Station to sit down with one of the hosts for a Chinese interview about my life, work, and goals to bring China and America closer together. I've been inspired by the TH-camr Xiaomanyc and hope to make more videos speaking the Chinese language.

Man I would like so much speak mandarin in the way you do so fluently! My mother tongue is Spanish and I learn English barely by myself, but I´m having problems with my ears and I can´t learn as fast as I used to!!!! All the best to you and your channel!!!

@@bhgder3423 serpentza spent at least *15 years* in China, yet his Mandarin proficiency sucks and you can't hold proper conversations with serpentza in Mandarin over everyday topics, because his Mandarin vocabulary is around that of an 8-year old.

I’m from a small town in Manitoba, my wife is from China, and I have been to China 3 times. I’ve had many conversations with friends about the difference in what we were taught about China, and what it is really like. So many people only want to believe what they hear on the news.

You have to see it yourself to believe. In 2005, my friend went to visit me in Shanghai. At the Bund, he told me a year earlier when his German clients stood at the same spot told him : if this is communism, they should go and run East Germany ...... I don’t think he really meant it literally, but was amazed by what they saw. Just like Cyrus’ friends.
Shanghai is incredible and the economic growth and prosperity brought the masses in China can't be overlooked

Excellent mandarin since your wife probably doesn’t speak mandarin at home and you look so happy being interviewed. I guess you are more relaxed and this is different to the other serious topics. Really impressed with Cyrus' spoken mandarin. Thanks for the English subtitles, without that I won't be able to watch this and Cyrus is right, westerners disliked China because they did not really know China not to mention foreign media networks portraying un-favorable news about China too. China has proven to be a big country which has not been "colonial" for hundreds of years unlike many foreign western countries in history where patterns could be witness there. It is because many western countries have that mentality of colonization, they are worried China will do the same and that's where they did not understand about China. Admiral Zheng Ho have sailed probably 3/4 of the world back in the 15th century and never colonized any countries except trade, that's the history of China, trade, trade and trade............and that's one same distinct characterization of China hundreds of years since. China have too many internal wars thousands of years, from warlords till dynasties and realized wars do not have winners but inflicted only sufferings on its people which US should learn and be aware of, just look at the recent Afghanistan.

His Chinese is ~as Chinese. Easy to understand, good choice of words. 1% of imperfect pronunciation is surely overlooked for overall fluency.

Wow Cyrus. Appreciate all your hard work bridging the West and China. You speak very good Mandarin, putting me(an ethnic Chinese in a Southeast Asian country) to shame! Anyway, I am encouraged to brush up on my Mandarin. Hope to visit China once the pandemic is over/under control. The last time I was in China was in the Shanghai area nearly a decade back. I still have relatives back in Guangdong and my wife's side is from Fujian. All the best to you.

I lived in Nanning for 13 years and visited many cities in China before that and I got along everywhere in English as I could never, ever learn Chinese. I never needed to work there.

I agree with Cyrus that Mandarin is more important than Cantonese. I am a second generation Chinese Malaysian. I speak Hainanese with my family members, speak Cantonese with friends, spoke English and Malay in school and took tuition in Mandarin. My Mandarin is not as good as my English and Cantonese. I realize the importance of Mandarin and that is why my sons went to Chinese schools from primary 1 to secondary 6, a total of 12 years. They are highly proficient in Mandarin and English as we speak English at home. Apart from English, Mandarin is a marketable language skill.

wow... I can understand what you say ! you pronounce words very clearly and that's great :D sadly, as soon as I listen to native speakers, their sheer amount of accents makes me doubt I ever tried to learn their language >_< (soon HSK3 here)
Cyrus did a great interview in Geopolitics recently.
Getting hair transplantion is defintely a lot cheaper in China. I have a collegue who got it done in China and he has lots of hair now again. Perhaps worth to have this procedure done in China next time when you are there.
