Blending the reverb and the delay is such a fantastic tip that so many people either overlook or don’t know about. It is really easy, especially for beginners to overuse delay/reverb and this trick works WONDERS

What are some check box items I could troubleshoot if I feel like my vocals are not sitting in the mix well? What should I consider if my vocals sounds too in front? What should I consider if my vocal sounds buried? I record with a rode nt1-a and having been using the scheps 73 mono plugin right away on my chain, is this dumb, it recently hit me that that plugin might be mostly helpful to dynamic mics Lastly, on the reverb and delay, do they send straight to 'master'? In general, I record completely dry with a good mic, good interface, and a very dead room. No plugins burned in before the DAW. I'll usually record with an instance of EQ, one compressor for peaks, and a bit of reverb on the vocal, just on the †rack insert for tracking purposes! I know there are several methods out there, but this is my favourite. I don't like burning in compression before the DAW, unless you're totally sure about the settings. If you over-compress pre-DAW, then it's too late. Same reason I tend to track a DI in addition to any amp effects on guitars. Just my preference! One huge tip is that the room/environment is equally important as the mic/interface/plugins. The more you can minimize reflections, the better results you'll get - especially since compression with bring out any background reflections/noise! Always flip your furnace or air conditioning off too for that reason (Just don't forget to turn it back on after, haha!) Hope that helps :)
