Well there is the American public school system in which common sense is frowned upon. Teachers Unions are another enemy of the US. I went into debt (which I repaid) making sure my kids were never in it. However, now the private schools are worse. Dems and Libs are all sickos.

Why would anyone believe these private lot operators that hire people at minimum wage give any thought to protecting cars from theft? I'd be worried that they are actually in on the thefts.
Even they did give thought, way too many cars and people go through these airport parking lots for any person working there to be able to tell whether they are the owner or robbers.
Wow, what world he live in? leaving your key inside your car. You can't even leave your packages in front of your door step. Oregon Highest Crime Rate & Highest Taxes State in the US, where local and state government do nothing. Just made yourself a easy target. Valet service at the Airport, Uber or Lyft. I think Portland has become unlivable.
Even though you think the airport parking garage may be “secure”, always use extra safeguards when you can, even if you feel it’s more of an inconvenience. Safety should NOT be compromised by your inconvenience. Here are my tips: Take your keys with you, use “The Club” for your steering wheel, install a reliable alarm system for your vehicle, hide or take away your garage door openers, and if possible, take your car registration and insurance card with you when you park the car so possible intruders can’t find the address of your residence. It’s better to be safe than sorry!

If you trust your security to Portland, don't be surprised or shocked when you end up losing far more than you thought you could.
Why anybody would leave their keys in their car while they are out of the state blows my mind no common sense & I would sue the car lot company.
I don’t know if the owners of the parking lot can be held liable for damage, loss or theft. Depending on location, when you get a ticket as you’re driving into a lot or garage, most times the ticket will have a disclaimer printed on it as to the parking owner’s non-assumption of liability to anything that may happen to your car. It’s their way of covering their butts if someone tries to sue them. Is it fair? No.
Last time I flew, I parked in the long term lot, and my garage door opener and anything in my glove box with my address on it came with me on my trip. Had to think like a criminal.
This is what happens when you defund the police and decriminalization of crimes.

I feel for you dude. It happened to me too. Police caught the thieves and they were provided with counseling, attorney, etc. If I wanted a report from the police I had to pay $24. Nothing was paid to me.

I can't even imagine leaving the keys in a parking garage. But the Wokes in Portland can advocate for this to be standard operating procedure.
They need to set up stings. Leave a bunch of cars at the airport with keys left in them. Then have a nasty little armed surprise waiting. Private citizens could do that themselves. Might send a message 😈

If you're going to leave anything in the vehicle at least find a hidey-hole behind a trim panel where no one would ever think to look. Another trick I use is installing a blinking LED in a prominent location that does absolutely nothing but blink 24/7. Requires very little power & will discourage most thieves.

Dead switch will be installed all US vehicles by law 2025. Not a good way to have it done though.
@@dellingson4833 that just means it will be on paper in the thieves will know how to go around it. I have an old Honda Accord, I installed my own fuel cutoff switch and I haven't had any problems since.
But the fact he still left his keys in his car means that the thieves would still have all the same access to all the same stuff.

NEVER leave your keys in your car in any public parking situation. When I travel, I always hook my keys to a keyring in my backpack or my carry-on. It's a travel inconvenience but still better than the scenario highlighted in the video.
Using a simple anti-theft measure like a steering wheel club will effectively reduce theft not because a thief can't ultimately defeat the device, but because it's just easier to choose another unprotected vehicle parked nearby. Remove your car's registration and leave nothing in your car with your home address.
Remember to remove your default home address from your GPS navigation unit. I sometimes program a local police station address and set it as my home address when I leave my car in long term parking, but that's more of a feel-good stunt than an effective anti-theft measure. Take your garage door opener with you or or hide it in the car, and send yourself an email reminding yourself where you hid the garage door opener (and where you parked your car in the garage structure), and pin that email.

People are leaving the item worth tens of thousands of dollars with the parking lot because it's implied that they are safe there and watched and monitored and secured.
Our 2012 Audi A4 wagon was vandalized in the parking garage! The right front passenger window was smashed! I wanna punch the vandals but it is NEVER ok to punch or hurt people! The vandals are now going after Audis and BMWs because Audi and BMW put valet keys in the glove compartment, however the valet key wasn’t in our glove compartment! Audi and BMW owners PLEASE take your valet key out of the glove compartment!

The amount of victim-blaming here is staggering. Wait until something like this happens to you for 'whatever' reason and, when you're at your most weak, read how your community feels about it. Sad state of affairs for many of you.

Why would you leave your keys in your car that’s just a sitting target leave your keys at home locked away somewhere or with somebody you trust
