Why do Lexus and Toyota not offer an Ivory or Beige colored interior , like they do in other areas of the world. Not everyone likes dark chocolate?
This is the reason many people do not shop for these vehicles. Light interior choices are not available, but if you saw in the past, almost all luxury vehicles came with a light colored interior .

For the Lexus TX hybrid, how long can you use the 1500 watt AC power outlet at any given time? Does Lexus allow the inverter to run for long periods of time? Will make for a great way to power a campsite! (Hopefully Lexus allows the user to keep the AC power on for long periods of time!)

Are you sure there's no spare under that plastic piece under the space behind the 3rd row? The Toyota Grand Highlander has one, in fact I had to show the salesperson at the dealership that it had a spare. He then in turn called over some other sales people to show off the spare.

Well its just another uni body POS FWD or AWD. Not a body on frame with RWD transmission like God intended lol. Its why I bought a BMW X3. It has still a unibody but it has a real ZF 8 speed RWD transmission with Xdrive to give traction to the front wheels as needed. Yeah its more expensive for an oem to go that route but definitely worth it. Plus the ZF 8 speed is the best auto on the planet. Its a more comfortable car then the GX with more room. But I really like the newer GX coming out. Going to cost bucks though.

Funny that these guys say that this Lexus has so many things that set it apart from the Grand Highlander and then they didn't provide a whole lot that is different. The Grand Highlander is a VERY nice vehicle and far less expensive. If I were looking for luxury, I would just got to a BMW, Mercedes, Land Rover, etc. Lexus is just an overpriced Toyota! Not bad because Toyota's are great but Lexus would need to stretch a lot more to be considered a true luxury vehicle.

Bummer that the hybrids only come in 6 seats. The weight explanation makes sense but having a vehicle big enough to seat 7-8 is a bit of a miss. The performance specs of the 550h+ had me thinking of viable replacement for my Sienna. But going from 8 seats to 6 is a big difference with a family of 5. Having the option to lift a set grandparents is always nice.

Toyota use to go a lot farther to differentiate interior design and refinement between the toyota and lexus brand. The interior looks like a toyota...a sea of grey plastic and no luxury warmth and finish. The highlander is a better buy. The lexus version can approach 70+ grand. Toyota can do better. Cadillac is suffering from the same issue with their interiors. Tech over luxury.

It doesn't seem luxurious enough to be a Lexus. And it is way too close to the Grand Highlander. the bigger SUVs, IMO, from Lexus, always look too close but at least they use to have more luxurious interiors. This one, it's so subtle that it just seems like a nice Grand Highlander in too many ways. Needs wood or stitching or something else. Nothing shouty. or excessive. But more than what that interior offers. A Genesis is much more distinguished from a Hyundai than this Lexus is from the Toyota version.

I was looking towards the Lexus Tx 550h + as a hybrid replacement for my Subaru Ascent. What’s the point for getting a large three row vehicle that can only seat 6? It’s literally one extra seat from any other 2 row hybrid. Otherwise I pretty much love this vehicle (minus the absence of a spare tire). The 33 mile electric range would cover my daily commute to work and back. Save the gas for the long road trips.

    • @TumblingMustard

@@TumblingMustard Beg to differ. Depends on size of occupants; occasional need to squeeze someone in regardless size (that sometimes becomes more than occasional need... as a common example, I think of my niece's twin babies and their very helpful older tweener sister); 4 legged passengers many if not most folks have; fact that cargo area behind 2nd row (3rd row folded flat) actually needed for... drumroll...cargo/gear on road trips (Not nearly everyone wants to have to get / use a cargo carrier--and especially awkward on a taller vehicle like this--because they had to deploy that third row seat they might not have otherwise);...and 2nd row bench needed especially when the third has been limited two persons;...and even on an improved third-row (space/comfort) such as this, no one really wants to be relegated to the 3rd row. As many have on other 3-row vehicles to date, a lot of people will buy this mostly for the extra hauling space with only occasional deployment of the third row. Finally, when fewer occupants, sprawl out room/comfort of 2nd row bench almost always trumps more limited captain's chair. All in all, the second row bench a much more versatile configuration that a lot of people discover only after purchase of the captains chairs.

    • @benniewalker312
      @benniewalker312 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@springertube I like this example. The reason why I own a Subaru Ascent Limited and not a Subaru Ascent Touring is the option for an 8 seat vehicle. The 3rd row is emergency use only. I’d feel horrible trying to cram a real life human being back there, but it works well for little people (kids) and pets. But the most important thing this gives me is flat cargo floor. Typically I’m carrying way more stuff than people. It’s a compromise, getting the functionality of a pickup truck in the comfort of an suv. I know minivan is the way to go but my AWD Subaru can get me in and out of places that a Sienna or Pacifica just can’t. And it comes with a spare so I really can’t complain much. The only other box I need checked is a hybrid power train and @ 4 inches of additional leg room in the 3rd row.

They can be loud on some road surfaces. I got them on my BMW and there is no way I'd put them on again. I'm thinking of using a donut tire that might fit uder the rear trunk when deflated. Then use use air compressor as needed. Not offering a spare is just a very bad idea and would be a show stopper if I were buying again.

@@naveenthemachine I can but I don't like how the run flats perform on my X3. They can be loud on some road surfaces. Lots of complaints on the BMW forums about it. And even though I can afford them its really a bad value to spend 2000 dollars on a damn set of tires. Just because I have means does not mean I like to throw money away like that. I only paid 47K for my 2019 loaded X3 (7K dollars off MSRP). Today that car costs well over 60K and they won't come off the MSRP.

The Tx is not very attractive compared to just about anything else
The interior is not luxurious even the slightest but. No leather wrapped dash, doors, or airbag cover, no wood trim. All we get are the same Toyota grade injection molded plastics throughout
The tech is also completely useless such as the door handles, touch pad steering wheel heads up display combo, and no physical buttons
It also lacks so many features compared to the competition
Interior space isn’t any better than the Volvo xc90 or Lincoln aviator or even a Kia telluride or Hyundai palisade and the tx doesn’t have an 8 seat option
The powertrains are a huge disappointment. The base 350 turbo does 0-60 in 8 seconds so as fast as a corolla. And don’t even try to say it’s quick enough in the real world for its cost of $55K because it’s not. The 500h does 0-60 in 6.3 seconds so it’s barely faster than a telluride palisade pilot cx90 Explorer 2.3, base MDX, qx60, xt6 w the v6, grand Cherokee Durango etc. it’s still slower than the MDX type S and gv80 3.5T or base aviator / explorer ST. The 550h+ does have a naturally aspirated v6 but that means getting a v6 in general will be significantly more expensive than getting a naturally aspirated v6 in just about anything else. Plus 0-60 takes 6 seconds so it’s the slowest PHEV in its class. And it’s also going to be a lot more expensive than rival phevs
Handling falls behind just about anything else it competes with. MDX cx90 aviator Explorer Durango grand Cherokee xt6 gv80 even a q7 that’s very nose heavy up front will all handle better
Many of those rivals also offer air suspensions so they’ll ride better than the TX

I can’t wait to replace our GH with a TX 550h+, for us it’s the perfect combo, you get a V6, PHEV system that offers 406hp, 33miles of range, and 30mpg, no other SUV in this segment checks all boxes for us, the QX60 and MDX, are too small and don’t offer the same power or mpg figures, the XC90 has a small 3rd row but you get stuck with that turbocharged/supercharged 4 cylinder which will definitely not be as reliable on the long run. The only thing close to this size is the Buick Enclave and that thing is just old, slow and has very dated tech
We also looked at the CX90, but you get stuck with a 4 banger, you don’t get nearly as much power or efficiency, on the flip side it is also cheaper but money pricing isn’t our main concern. another we took a look at was the Aviator plug in, and it was very swift but it felt cramped on the inside. The TX is by no means perfect, I still think the styling is a little wonky, but I’ll have to wait to see it in person, and I find it pretty confusing that you can’t get an 8-seat configuration, apart from that, the TX had the least compromises for us, when it came to power, space and efficiency.
