I'm reminded of my crew I ran with back in the day early 80s all of us sang Prince and the Time songs all day, trying to pull the ladies, this would have been really special back then clearly a number 1 hit RIP purple Yoda
The fact this wasn’t released makes me love him even more. He could throw away songs this good cause there was always another coming, He flirted with controversy and shock in his song writing but also had a really strong moral compass and that evolved throughout his career. I’m glad his estate has followed that principle since his passing. With that said, I’m also really glad we get to hear this, because it’s a fucking JAM.
I have the Hit n Run CD. It's the first time I heard it there. it's so purely electric super groove & the sound quality on this cd was astounding. Every song on this cd is Superior.
Good lord this song is just perfection isn't it? THIS is the song that hooked me on Prince so many years ago. The quality of this song is just astounding, I mean most artists don't release their demos because they just aren't good, Prince though, the best stuff he held back! Really hope we get to hear this one in all its purple pristine pleasure someday. Shame it wasn't included on 1999 Deluxe. There clearly is a specific lyric in this song that Prince would not approve of being released, and if that is what held it back from inclusion, I think most of us would be OK with that line edited out, as opposed to never having this song at all. The same can be said with Lust U Always, which shares a very similar line, but from a historical record standpoint, both of these should have been on the set and it was a missed opportunity in my humble purple opinion. That being said though, the new 1999 Super Deluxe set looks amazing in every respect, and is well beyond any expectation I could have had for it.
Michael Howe, the archivist, said that he and the Estate feel that Prince is a basically a bad person for writing his lyrics so they prefer to cheat the fans instead of respecting Prince.
@@MrBKings LMAO Howe would never say that crap, he's a Prince fan. What he actually said was, "The only things I wish [we could have included], just for the sake of completeness, were Lust U Always and Extraloveable. It was just a non-starter, unfortunately. They’re obviously two tracks that are resolutely in the era, but both have very unfortunate rape references in them. I think the follow-up question is: Why didn’t you just do a fade? Edit it? That goes back to the guiding principle of dealing with this stuff with as much completeness and respect as possible, taking as few creative liberties as possible. Messing with the art, basically, is not something we want to do. We were left with the best bad choice possible…"

I listened to Prince's song "goodbye" on my phone when my father called in the middle of this song and gave me information about his death. It was magical, like telepathy, I will never forget it. It was like saying goodbye to me ...saying goodbye to a fan, artist, wave of lament...Sign of life after death?
How this man’s outtakes are better than most people’s songs is just a modern marvel. We needed the original “Extralovable” on that deluxe “1999” release. It’s a travesty they left it off. I know they left it out because of that infamous line he says in it. But given the fact that Warner Bros and others have artists on their label who rap about killing folks, and no one says a word about it, I don’t see the issue. Prince makes one cheeky remark and everyone has the vapors. I don’t get it and I think that alone is a microcosm of everything wrong with our society. Always focused on any and everything but what we need to be focused on. Plenty of people in the grave because of “diss songs,” yet the labels continue to perpetuate and promote that sort of music. Then they wanna censor a genius? I don’t get it. It’s bs! This should have been released, rape line and all. It’s not even said in a derogatory way, it’s extremely sensual as he’s expressing that he will literally do anything to be with this woman. And then the sound goes crazy as he falls into the dark erotic recesses of his mind. This song is a TOTAL trip into his psyche (passion, lust and rage) and shows up everything he ever did before AND after it. And to think he was only 24 at the time. Mayte spoke about the tracks he showed her that he said the world wasn’t ready for. I BET you this was one of them. This is some of his finest work, and he knew it which is why he released some form of it TWICE before he left this planet.
My all time favorite song. I get tears in my eyes on this day hearing it. I love you Prince, thank you for sharing your gift with us. May U live to see the Dawn
This track should have been included in the just-released Prince 1999 Super Deluxe Edition, rape reference and all - it's by far the BEST unreleased outtake from his 1999 studio sessions/period - the remake is OK, but slowed down, too slick, diluted - this is the potent, raw original - amazing cut!
TOTALLY agree! This should have been released, rape line and all. Thw newer version is cool, but nothing beats that drum machine
One of many masterpieces😍😍
This track should have been included in the just-released Prince 1999 Super Deluxe Edition, rape reference and all - it's by far the BEST unreleased outtake from his 1999 studio sessions/period - the remake is OK, but slowed down, too slick, diluted - this is the potent, raw original - amazing cut!
TOTALLY agree! This should have been released, rape line and all. Mayte spoke about the tracks he showed her that he said he knew the world wasn’t ready for. I BET you this was one of them. This is some of his finest work, and he knew it which is why he released some form of it TWICE before he left this planet.
Even the great ones have to leave. This is why Solomon wrote Vanity of vanities. All is vanity. Even life itself. Because nothing lasts on this earth but the Word of God the Lord Jesus Christ!
This song is gold, prolific genius... Te podrías perder en sus ojos egipcios... Prince sabe tocarte esa parte dormida del alma, i miss you...
So much better than the newer version. Love this and Moonbeam Levels.
sure, no argument here but worth noting a few Lyrics better in new version and the horn arrangement in the reloaded version is ace.
Album version is ok (love the album, Groove Potential, Stare and Revelation are killer tracks). But this is another level.
it's way better than anything Another Level did! ;-)
DJ Blur they definitely have the masters to this in the vault. They NEED to release this song officially with a remaster. I will die a happy man if they do.
+DJ Blur he re-done it and released it on his HitnRun Phase two album
