Warner Bros. did us WRONG by not putting this extended mixes and the original of when doves cry with the bass on the Purple Rain remasters Super Deluxe Edition 5 years ago.

It is not underrated. Prince just didn't promote it enough because it was a B side. This song was Purple Rain soundtrack quality. I grew up in Toledo. We could get 98 WJLB from Detroit. This song was in constant rotation. I had the purple 45, if you can remember those. Mojo would play the whole album back in the day. All night. They played 17 days all day long. Trust me. It was well appreciated and recognized.
I left this conversation about 5 months ago because I couldn’t take it. I have been waiting on this version since I was 8 years old and I’m 41 now. I did listen to it about 2 months ago but I dont think people understand how important this song is to fans especially this long version. A long time ago I fell in love with this woman who was a widow of my long time dearest friend Omar. I miss him, he was a great guy. Taught me about boats and motorcycles. In return I taught him about cars and computers. His son, Omar Jr and I also formed a close bond. I became Uncle E, which during sessions of pizza, pop and video games (I always lost) and lots and lots of silliness we grew together as a family. One week Omar came home early from work sick. We checked him into the hospital and he was gone a week later. The doctors attributed his sudden demise to leukemia, we were devastated. It was so sudden it was crushing. I mean CRUSHED us. We could barely function. Annette went home to Minneapolis, her son with a relative. Before she left Annette and I formed a close bond too but she couldn't see me without seeing her husband and we dissolved. We never had sex but lots of huggable love with lots lovable hugs. And that was it. Which brings me here to drop me off at the last music we shared. This song fits us to a T. But two decades have passed and they are just a distant memory but I've never been able to close that wound. ❤ ❤❤❤❤❤ I'm still in love with you Annette 🤩💓 Somebody needs to come to my rescue

Aside from how funky this joint is. I always loved how his vocals are mixed on this track. So much is revolutionary (no pun intended) about Prince’s world of music. He gave you something you just couldn’t get from anywhere else but the Purple Kingdom.
It was actually recorded by Apollonia 6 , you can still hear Brenda Bennett singing and doing that spoken part. And as Prince was known to do he snatched it back and the rest is history

This sounds really like an unreleased or original before the fading away, Prince did often continue the song and released a faded version of a longer mix. You can hear authentic bits a the end. Unless, unless the master tape was accessed and transfered oh I don't know... to DAT tape... by oh say an engineer working on a tape to DAT project and then fans or a fan remixed it.
No, this isn't a fake or a bootleg remix; this is the full-length Prince + Brenda Bennett duet. This was originally a Brenda track intended for the second Vanity 6 album that then morphed into a duet before Brenda's vocals were largely buried in the mix and it became the Prince & the Revolution B-side we know and love.

Man o man. The Revolution was so his best band he put together. Wendy and Lisa in backing sounds so right with him. They were young, they were funky. It just ads up with his songwriting and hardware back then.

It's curious, cos Prince could easily have included this full-length version on the 12" of "When Doves Cry", but he opted to just use the edited version.

i don't think i do, most of what i have is mp3 or aac due to me wanting it on my iPhone and needing enough space to store it all. even in those compressed formats i have 30gb of bootlegs. another thing to note is that a lot of these were mp3 or aac but collectors would convert to FLAC or WAV then say its lossless you know? they are probably be out there just not what i have, some songs i haven't uploaded i do have lossless versions of but i haven't gone through and cleaned up my prince collection in 2 years
also, im not sure on the collection, most of these are in several. a big one to go for is "blast from the past" v1-7 there might be v8 now but im not too sure. i downloaded a package that had most of everything from 1976-2015 all wrapped into one.
@@prn_legacy That’s an unfortunate thing that lossy files sometimes found to have been converted to lossless. I remember the Foefur remasters “”, to me they sounded absolutely spectacular they still do and I have a pretty decent audio system and professional level headphones etc. and they were lossless and I remember I was all gushing of how great they sounded and members of an underground secret prince forum made extra sure to remind me they were lossy compressed music and that most of the music were sourced from low quality music files. But it was almost like they were angry that I was gushing and celebrating the Foefurs!😵💫😂 I always try my best to get the Lossless and I’ll take the MP3 etc. if it’s the highest bid rate, what matters is the music. Plus, did I complain about crucial sounding so multi generational, cassette tape traded the graded audio? No and I still don’t. In fact, I’ve kept most of my bad sounding boot legs when I rip them off from the original CDs way back in the day into last list. I think it gives a nostalgic twist to the sound that I actually enjoy. It’s like a fine wine. It’s strange I know but it adds like a sonic character that I’m so used to already. My point is that your ears will adjust they will except because you’re more into the music and what it’s doing to you what the artist intended. That’s why most don’t trip listen to music on TH-cam, and then other streaming services. The whole vinyl thing is kind of overrated just to sell you the music again and people get obsessed with the vinyl, the actual physical medium rather than the music. It’s also it’s ruining, modern music, producers, so-called artist, and some skin feel real artist tend to get distracted by the software that makes or helps him make the music, and that becomes the main thing not the songwriting at the message not the communication not the art not something ethereal. i don't think i do, most of what i have is mp3 or aac due to me wanting it on my iPhone and needing enough space to store it all. even in those compressed formats i have 30gb of bootlegs. another thing to note is that a lot of these were mp3 or aac but collectors would convert to FLAC or WAV then say its lossless you know? they are probably be out there just not what i have, some songs i haven't uploaded i do have lossless versions of but i haven't gone through and cleaned up my prince collection in 2 years
also, im not sure on the collection, most of these are in several. a big one to go for is "blast from the past" v1-7 there might be v8 now but im not too sure. i downloaded a package that had most of everything from 1976-2015 all wrapped into one.
@@prn_legacy That’s an unfortunate thing that lossy files sometimes found to have been converted to lossless. I remember the Foefur remasters “”, to me they sounded absolutely spectacular they still do and I have a pretty decent audio system and professional level headphones etc. and they were lossless and I remember I was all gushing of how great they sounded and members of an underground secret prince forum made extra sure to remind me they were lossy compressed music and that most of the music were sourced from low quality music files. But it was almost like they were angry that I was gushing and celebrating the Foefurs!😵💫😂
I always try my best to get the Lossless and I’ll take the MP3 etc. if it’s the highest bid rate, what matters is the music. Plus, did I complain about crucial sounding so multi generational, cassette tape traded the graded audio? No and I still don’t. In fact, I’ve kept most of my bad sounding boot legs when I rip them off from the original CDs way back in the day into last list. I think it gives a nostalgic twist to the sound that I actually enjoy. It’s like a fine wine. It’s strange I know but it adds like a sonic character that I’m so used to already. My point is that your ears will adjust they will except because you’re more into the music and what it’s doing to you what the artist intended. That’s why most don’t trip listen to music on TH-cam, and then other streaming services. The whole vinyl thing is kind of overrated just to sell you the music again and people get obsessed with the vinyl, the actual physical medium rather than the music. It’s also it’s ruining, modern music, producers, so-called artist, and some skin feel real artist tend to get distracted by the software that makes or helps him make the music, and that becomes the main thing not the songwriting at the message not the communication not the art not something ethereal.

@@prn_legacy thanks for this reply also I replied in detail on the previous one but yes I’ve heard of those I don’t know where their versions that I think I may have skipped one or two especially if it goes post 1985 I have very little interest in that work after that except for a few things like rave 2K and artificial age.
