My Hovawart is a sweetheart. Easy to learn, doesn't bite but always warns when strangers are around. He is an excellent judge of intent. I can watch his reactions and know what people are up to. He runs from my 3 yo niece when she visits though. Don't know why. Best dog I've ever had.

Im from sweden and i've owned both a hovawart and a golden - i take the hovawart and Day of the week! Goldens are the moster pround dog to bite humans here in sweden - now thats an interesting fact do to the Hovawart is the "guard dog"

Our golden's best friend is a Hovawart. Both beautiful dogs but I can absolutely confirm my golden is so much more stubborn.

I think there is a poor understanding of what apartment dogs are. People who work from home and walk everywhere may be seeking a more active dog.
