- Blond Hovawart and Golden Retriever can be very hard to tell apart. But even though they look very similar, they are two completely different dog breeds. In this video i will compare the Hovawart and Golden Retriever.

On the first sight, the blond Hovawart looks exactly like Golden Retriever and it is easy to confuse one to another. But these two are completely separate purebred dogs with different ancestry and history and with big differences in their personality, but also in their appearance.

I have a solid black Hovawart and 9 out of 10 times people mistake him for a chunky Flatcoat Retriever.

Hey for that height range check out the Shiba inu, Basenji and the Wirefox terrier
I wouldn’t say golden retrievers would likely welcome burglars into your home because they can sense bad smell on a stranger
But ive had a hovawart twice and compared to them a golden retriever is certainly welcoming. Hovawarts might attack or threaten immediatly if an unknown guest enters unaccompanied and or quietly. Until they trust u they will not be friendly
