    Your reviews are awesome! I tossed up between this and the Instinct 2X last year, I purchased an Instinct 2X and love its durability and flash light! However, I’d like the ability to have a voice assistant. My other wish would be to find a watch that is easier to sleep with (not as large)as I like the health metrics of both. But that’s where the Oura Ring is hard to beat! Unfortunately, it’s really hard to get everything you want in one device.

    • @mlegrand
      @mlegrand  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Wow thank you! I think the Instinct 2X is one of my favorites. I love the flashlight also! I wonder if Garmin will add microphones and speakers to all of their watches going forward. I don't know what's taking them so long. They are helpful. I liked the Oura ring but have mostly been using the Ultrahuman Air ring to avoid the subscription fee. The gap between the Venu and Forerunner 2xx is getting smaller and smaller.
    I also fully agree that the lack of swimming drills is a problem. It is literally just a software feature. Also the main reason why I haven't gone for the Coros watches and will stick to Garmin.

    • @mlegrand
      @mlegrand  หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      It's super odd what Garmin picks and chooses to leave off of these watches. I would think it'd be easier for the software team to just make watches that can all do the same stuff and then differentiate the watches on design and materials. I had it since December, regular Venu 3. With 4 days of gym a week, 8k steps a day on average, great little device, battery lasts 7days easily, 10days if there’s less activity and I’m moving less, 24/7 tracking everything, AOD off, no way for 2 weeks. Glass is sheit, have 2 scratches already, my old AW S5 had it for 3years and 0 scratches. Not bothered with swimming as it’s not a swimming watch, nor a triathlon one, it’s a lifestyle watch. Flashlight? Never had it so I don’t miss it.

    • @mlegrand
      @mlegrand  27 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      I personally don’t think it’s all that important but I do prefer some things about the 265. I like the extra buttons. I think that’s why Garmin doesn’t have a swim drill mode here. The UI is also slightly different on the Venu. On the flip side, the mic and speaker are great to have. Hopefully Garmin will combine a lot of these things in the near future. 🤞

    Hi, nice review and videography is sublime.
    Currently I am using Apple Watch SE and thinking of getting a proper fitness watch. I am torn between Apple Series 9 and this. On one hand I’ve become comfortable with Apple Health and other allied apps which display Apple Health data in more structured manner but on the other hand I completely hate the fact that I need to charge it every 20 hours.
    I mainly do Boxing, Cycling, and Running. Would you recommend this watch over series 9?

    • @mlegrand
      @mlegrand  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      This would be a decent option but I still think there’s a lot about the Apple Watch that you’d miss. Mainly the integration with the iPhone. I think it’s a tricky call. Apple is also pretty consistent about announcing new watches in September. So you could wait and see what’s next before deciding. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    I opted for the forerunner 265 simply because the indoor swimming options were better. Specifically the swim drill option. I often do drills so Without it, my distance can be quite a bit out. The data fields are also important and the venu 3 has limits on the options that the f265 doesn’t. I Quite like the idea of speakers and a mic that the venu 3 has, but the sports functionality was more important to me.

    My Venu (1, vanilla) has recently started taking the piss with its GPS, taking well over 5 minutes of warmup time to even start, most of the times I am at the end of the street before it even knows where I am, and even then I'm running through houses for the forseeable 3 clicks before the signal goes green. Funny, considering that's what finally got me to buy one two years ago and leave my phone at home. Garmin is of no help whatsoever, but I'm still considering a Venu 3, considering it has the features I'm looking for and the taking the phone while I'm on the toilet bit would be a funny gimmick if nothing else.

      The Garmin Connect changes haven’t bugged me too much yet. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍

    I have the venu 3. Upgraded from the first instict watch. Was rocking samsung 4 for a bit got tired of charging it daily.
    I mainly use it for gym. And I'm liking the sleep tracking and HRV tracking and minute by minute stress /HRV tracking. Bodybattery its really good!
    However..... If the epix or Fenix have the mic and speaker I would have gone for them. I'm definitely interested in the flashlight led that they have.... I think they should've made a watch that combine venu3 smart features with the exip or Fenix looks. I would have went for it.
    Overall, it's a good everyday watch with decent battery.

      I’d love to see Garmin add speakers and mics to all of their watches. Seems like they have the technology 🤷🏻‍♂️

      @@mlegrand Yes! I understand that there are is a large number of consumers who wants to have watches that function separate from their phones without the speakers. But equally there is a number of consumers who wants speakers and mic. Specially like you've mentioned, they have the tech to do it. Perhaps make an ultra version of Epix or Ultra Fenix with speakers and mic.

    Garmin = overpriced mess

      Maybe. There's definitely a few brands on the market that are more affordable. I have a review coming up of the Garmin FR 165 which is $250, so a little better as far as price goes. 🤷‍♂️

      Garmin GNS 530 or 1000 when I was a pilot -- loved it. Now, I love my Venu 3. Everything I need but no bullshit. I also went with Garmin because a coworker said their fitness data was still there 7 years later. To me that's priceless, not an overpriced mess. But, to each their own :)
