- We visit the UK's worst airport by customer reviews, with countless one start reviews for the likes of airport security, poor customer service, crowded, late flights, ect, we give this place a proper airport review. London Luton Airport is based just North of London in the British town of Luton, and houses airlines such as Ryanair, Easyjet and WizzAir.

Little to no seating areas at the gates is inexcusable. Sure, most people can stand, but what about those who find it difficult to stand for long periods of time?
I struggle to stand for long period of times its hard if there is long queues or no seats
The “gates” are mostly just queues in a long corridor.
The area around gate 1 is actually the old terminal and there’s a little more room but again limited seating.
It’s pretty intense
In these cases, people should ask for assistance at any airport, especially with mobility issues that way more often than not. You’ll be putting in a wheelchair and taken to where you need to go.
It can get a bit over crowded lol..

Great video Andy. I think this would make a great series as the whole experience of travelling can be enhanced or spoiled by the airport experience. And maybe it would help to get the poorer airports to better understand the importance of the customer interface; a video will be far more effective than an online review, especially if there's a huge community behind the content.
Great video. Very similar to Leeds/Bradford. A small airport that has massively expanded in terms of flights/passenger volume, way in excess the facilities they have available. LBA is awful both for departures and arrivals when busy.

Great video Andy we flew out of Manchester airport last year in July and it was terrible a long queue just to get our bags checked in then horrendous queue to get through security and we were there 3 hours before our flight and we had 30 mins to get to gate no time too get a drink because the queue's at the bars were long, sadly I don't think we'll be back to Manchester we live in Glasgow but works out cheaper to fly from Manchester but that experience was terrible.

Like Manchester security is a nightmare. They're run by G4S or group 4 security which you might know as traffic wardens and they have exactly the same power as a traffic warden. But give them a uniform with a few toy attachments and they turn into the SAS, They can't arrest you, they annoy you instead,
Manchester security is decent now, particularly since the new MD prioritised improving the passenger experience. 99.3% of passengers processed through security in 15 minutes or less based on most recent figures. Fitting of new x-ray scanners in progress ... some on trial in T2. When fully approved, passengers won't need to remove items from hand luggage for seperate screening. I have found security staff friendly and helpful on my frequent trips through Manchester Airport.
USA here....i saw on utube awhile back that some guy made a huge sign on the grass leading to a great airport (gatwick) ??in the UK....sign said "Welcome to Luton"....and every one flying in, were all shook up that they were at the worst airport in the UK......guess they deserve that kind of recognition.....✈✈😀😀
As a local to Luton, it’s grown so much compared to what it was. Any security can be a nightmare at any airport to be fair had issues at Edinburgh Birmingham Heathrow Gatwick! But Compared to the issues Manchester had with check in previously a lot we’ve never had it that bad but I think a lot depends on the size of each airport and time you depart sometimes Luton has zero queues at security. I’ve done it in less than five minutes before multiple times.
Car park 1 is great for spotting as well as the crash barrier on the opposite side.
My daughter is currently crew at Luton and they are improving the airport substantially obviously you get your people who don’t turn up on time or always lay rushing through security and then wonder why they missed their flight, but it’s like this every airport.
Each airport has advantages and disadvantages. Depends on the time of day of departure or arrival. Nevertheless, good video anyway and well done 👍
I have flown out of Luton many many times with Easyjet up to Glasgow since 2000 ... never had any issues with security, waiting times, walks to gates etc ... I suppose I am used to the experience and it doesn't bother me :)

Positive changes happening there. 99.3% of passengers processed through security in 15 minutes or less (December figures - latest available). Meanwhile, new-look T2 will be fully open from Spring 2025. The section already operational has been well received by users. Life-expired T1 will close then. Crowding in T3 will subside once all carriers except Ryanair switch to extended T2.

The only London airport I've never used and have no intention to. Instead of spending money to improve it they wasted it on creating a people mover and forcing you to pay more for the privilege instead of the previous bus link.

Great vid! Weird that they told you to go back to the departure lounge, something similar happened to me at Liverpool in December in the upstairs EasyJet area but the security staff just asked me to provide my boarding pass and they let me go, just for safety precautions probably :)

The lack of seating is completely unacceptable. They make it a total pain to get your wheelchair onboard (and risky - so many have been damaged in transit), then give you nowhere to sit if you come without it!

#demolishlutonairport I hate this place with a burning passion especially the new DART train costing £4.90 each way when it’s no longer than 5 minutes to get from airport parkway station, to the airport and back… even the bus shuttle was cheaper at just £2.50 🤦🏾♂️
Can I add to this but none UK, anyone ever been to Heraklion Airport in Crete, it makes Luton look like the Savoy Hotel. Love Crete but the thought of the return journey from this hell hole puts me off going.

Brits used to talk fast, like in past I never needed to speed up their videos, and if I did it topped out at 1.5x , but now I have to take it to 2x for pretty much every video narrated by Brits.

For a good experience you should try London Southend (SEN) unfortunately a bit light on routes but slowly improving after Covid.
My favorite UK airports are Norwich and Southampton.

Really enjoyed this video and it was good to see what Luton was like… I think all airports are great.. the only problem is the security.. but sort from that all airports are great. Yes and I’d love see more videos like this

All airports are already if not becoming shopping malls.
What i saw at LHR last month, a never finished construction site. A tax free that is the most expensive i've seen so far (cigarettes are 15% cheaperat STN, not that i smoke but i do compare).
But the only point STN beats LHR is the morning rush security jumpers...
I thought that this was going to be MAN - even with fast track, it's meant to be a disgrace.
You can kind of understand it with an airport hosting LCCs, and all that that entails.
I’ve always found luton security to take no more than 20 mins even when it’s busy.

Manchester is so bad that the first thing I check when choosing a holiday is if I can fly from Liverpool. The woman in charge, sacked everyone during Covid. Maybe a Karen but definitely not smart. Too dim to see all the EU workers were about to go home! Ex-airport staff easily got jobs on the same money but better hours and no travelling! Result? Hell on Earth.
totally disagree, maybe we've been at different terminals but i regularly fly out of Manchester from terminal 1 on easy jet, i've been able to get thru check in and security in well under 15 mins and into the departure lounge. slightly different coming back in but only because there's been a lot of arrivals at passport control and that made it about 30 mins total.
Yeah the other 500,000 people passing through probably doesn’t agree.. also who the fuck goes to an airport to look at the floor and ask directions to somewhere on the actual ground around the corner.. Also judging an airport on its proximity from the entrance to check in is just ridiculous. This is so petty

World's worst airport Could also be Glasgow or Edinburgh has both airports offer zero amenities as no were to spot planes ano outdoors sedting yo watch planes bad security too much security nit. Compared to Manchester plus lack of airlines apart from a380 Emirates plud only 2 terminals but main terminals I'd one building and infamous gate 30 plus not much choice ftom airlines no transport links no trains etc only w bus

My last trip there, a couple of months ago, was painless, as were my other trips.

Why would you have just happened to stopped filming when the security guard walked up when you had been filming everything. Hmmmmm, suspicious. If it happens to be true now you know to never stop filming. You can never have enough footage and you never know what you’ll miss.
I didn't realise he was gonna talk to me, just thought he was walking past, he was very brief in telling me to go back.

The problem with Luton is it looks like it was designed on the cheap. The terminal looks to be missing its ceiling in most parts. The departure gates feel like hospital corridors. It’s just an awful place. But it’s frequented by low cost carriers who I guess pay very little for the facilities… So the investment just isn’t there. It’s my last favourite London airport, I wouldn’t choose to fly from there when there’s a choice.
How can Luton be worse than Stansted?

It's like flying with Ryanair... Don't expect a 5-star airport if you want to pay as little as possible for the ticket.
We went through last November and it took us 30 mins to get through with fast track, I know they are upgrading but needs to be better organised. Very limited seating as it was so busy.
It’s too small for the number of passengers and flights using it. Because it’s all low cost airlines paying a pittance to use it, it doesn’t get proper expansion just sticking plaster additions.
I once was at Geneva airport and it took 70 mins to go through security, our flight had a 4hr delay though.

Ive flown from Luton to EDI the airport itself was crazy.To watch planes have to go to the top of carpark.
