My wife jaw dropped when i went on a professional simulator (the ones airline pilots train on) and i was able to land it on AP and manually... She bet i couldnt but ive been doing this since FS2000... i struggled a little at first with the commands, since i always used a joystick and the simulator was a 737-800 cabin so i had to learn to fly it with a yoke but beside that... piece of cake.

Can a passenger land an aeroplane, maybe and only maybe if a fully trained pilot is telling you exactly what to do…and you listen. And it still won’t be pretty.

I would like to see one where the non-pilots have to do at least some hand-flying instead of just relaying info from ATC into the AP. The only manual controls these folks touched were flaps and gear, and cutting the throttle to idle. They demonstrated an ability to press buttons they were asked to press.

If they managed to gain entry to the cockpit with the pilots incapacitated, would they even know where the radio was and how to operate it and contact ground control?

Actually in a real life scenario, no one would ever be able to land a plane. It's very evident. Unless a flight simmer or someone who knows about flying, you are all doomed without them.

I've tried it. I hold a PPL and normally fly a Piper PA38. I tried a Boeing 737-400 Simulator and crashed every time. I think it's because I was taught to look out of the windscreen rather than at a video display. I hope I'm not alone.

The captain audio when he is in focus should have been the real audio, and not the walkie talkie audio. This is terrible to listen to.

Wow I so want to try this! I think I could do it with the help of ATC but it would be on a non windy day and a modern aircraft no bigger then a 737 except if it were a L1011 they can land on their own or so I have heard.

I've now watched this enough times to feel confident to replicate if I'm ever in the same situation and with lose of communication to the tower.

Thank GOD this pilot wasn't hired because of some DEI bullcrap where it's only because of the color of his skin.. I don't want my pilot picked purely because a corporation wants to pretend they are inclusive.. I want to live.
