    Most enjoyable. A nice straight read by a human without silly music or SFX. Thank you so much for your generous sharing.

      I'm interested in the comparison of "new" writers of Bond and this must be a good one then, but I'm missing Fleming's punch and turn of phrase. I keep waiting. This is my first foray into a Bond not authored by Fleming. Searching for more Bond is inevitable due to Fleming's too soon death. I have read a couple Sherlock Holmes by other than Conen Doyle but haven't felt the need as much since there are so many writings by Doyle.

    Not bad. Aside from his problem with American place names, I like the way he gave Bond an accent.

      Yes Bond is Scottish I was always confused why Fleming didn't approve initially in Connery's accent.

      @@usedscar Bond didn’t start out as a Scot, his background was “adjusted” after Connery proved to be so popular.

    • @usedscar
      @usedscar 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@davidhull1481 Interesting. Fleming was influenced by Sean Connery's portrayal of Bond in Dr. No (1962) to give Bond Scottish ancestry. However, some believe that Fleming had wanted to incorporate his own Scottish heritage into the character long before Connery was cast. Fleming's grandfather was Robert Fleming, a Scottish financier who co-founded the Scottish American Investment Company. Fleming's family considered themselves Scottish, and he would visit Scotland every summer and wear kilts.

      @@davidhull1481 Uh, I thought you said Fleming decided to make Bond a Scot due to Connery? That's what I found and that Fleming may have thought of it as it was his own heritage. Was totally backing up your thoughts on Fleming's thought.

      In the novels, Fleming gave Bond Scottish roots. I can’t remember which one, but it is mentioned that Bond’s parents had died in a car crash and he went to live with relatives in the Highlands.

      Bonds dad was Scottish and his mother was Swiss/French. His father was an investment banker who kept a home in Scotland and Switzerland. Bond grew up between the two and went to school in Geneva before going to an Oxbridge college.

      Yet, there's plenty of video evidence available on how violent and hateful the liberal left have been since 2016.
