    Very nice handwork. Actually I'm 18 years old and my dream is becoming someone like you. I'd love to study engineering for engines and at the same time learn enough to work on a bike myself. I don't want to just draw designs, I want my hands to get dirty with grease and oil. Thanks for inspiring me.

    David - I just finished my bike and have been riding it for a few weeks. This thing is an absolute blast to ride, and I love it for around town. I added some MotoGadget turn signals on the handlebars and crossbow mount. The tank is a little darker than I hoped, but looks great. I might make another one at some point, but this works well for now. Total project cost was about $4,000.
    Thanks again for your video and the comments,

    Excellent! My favorite part is that you made "your" TWD bike and didn't make it "painfully exactly correct". Your bike looks like a fun rider that you didn't spend a ton on and that you actually ride. Again: hats off!!!

      You got it spot on! It's a great fun ride and all was made on the cheap and at home. Cheers man!

    Hi Tomi.
    This has a standard firing sequence, 1+4, 2+3 with a four into two system interlinked with a balance pipe. No cats, and shorter pipes. This gives a different sound also the large, chunky, stubby end cans amplify this sound too. It sounds pretty good in real life as many folk keep telling me-a different sound to what you would expect. Thanks for the interest. All the best :)

    Wow what a replica!!!! This is amazing! How much did it cost you to make it yourself?

    • @DavidLahiffe
      @DavidLahiffe  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The price was mainly in my time spent in all of the work as I did it all myself (and my lady) so no outside help. so the price of the donor bike also some bolt on parts tyres and led lights etc. I did it all for under £1000 but if you were to have this made etc would cost thousands in metalworking electrical and mechanics plus painting and sourcing parts. I'm very pleased that I have the skills to do it all myself. I will be making another one as i love doing this work due to this one has been sold. thanks.

    Really nice job, I'm really curious why in the series and this one as well, has such an odd sound for an inline four. Is it because most inline 4 bikes have a longer exhaust with cats or does this particular engine have a different firing sequence? Thanks

    David - it looks great! I am an engineer myself in Texas and decided a couple months ago that I wanted to build this thing. So at this second I have a 1992 CB750 frame and the R6 front end I my garage. I was searching around on the front end and came across your video, so I wanted to say how awesome it is, and I hope mine will come out alright as well. I hope you get the price you want as I know Moto sells them for $16k, so you probably will do well with it. Can you tell me where you got the indicator lights or did you make those yourself as well?

    This looks amazing! Im planning on making my own very soon (when I get the money, Im almost 16) and I cant wait to get it started and finished, how much did it cost on average to make??

    • @DavidLahiffe
      @DavidLahiffe  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      it cost the donor bike then materials and special parts plus all the work which I did totally myself. so a price can't be put on this as the actual mechanical engineering and welding plus electrics and painting is the expensive part. I wouldn't build one for someone for less than £5000. that would be the total cost. thanks

    • @MopsLife

    are those mikuni carburetors? If so, what kinds of pods are those and what modifications did you make to the needle and jets of the carburetor in order to compensate for the increased airflow from the pods and modified exhaust

    • @DavidLahiffe
      @DavidLahiffe  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      M. Pagan air mix screw 2 1/4 turns out.
      1 and 4 mains 120
      2 and 3 mains 122.5
      Secondary jets 42

      Pods are standard k&n type

    Fuck that is awesome. Question.. is that a 90's DOHC? If so, how much work was involved in using air pods? I've got a 91 I've been slowly working on, and would love to rip out the airbox, but I've read it's pretty tough to get those to run on pods with the CV carbs.

    • @DavidLahiffe
      @DavidLahiffe  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi candytripn it's a cb750 f2n and the pod filters run beautifully I can tell you what to do to make it run great. rip out the air box I'll help you. I'll need my notes it involves re jetting mains also secondary jets and adjust air screws and move needles on the sliders. Please leave me your email and I'll respond. thanks. Dave.

    • @candytripn
      @candytripn 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      David Lahiffe Damn dude.. thanks! My was jetted when I bought it. Stage 3, not sure on the size.. I'll have to check, but with adjustable needles (raised em a notch for a bit more off the line, also needs octane boost now.. small dead spot off the twist, but after that pulls harder than before. ;p)
      Full 4-1 supertrapp exhaust and stock airbox (not a true stage 3 I guess then). The guy before me put a Hyper Charger on it, but ended up blocking it off as it killed the performance. It works (vacuum lines are hooked up and it look neat) but it's blocked with duct tape, as it was dyno tuned with the stock air box.
      I've no idea how to tunr it myself, but I've got a nice vacuum gauge and plenty of tools. Any advice would be awesome. Jcrpost@gmail.com Thanks again!

      David Lahiffe I'm looking now, but I'm gonna be honest. You ain't topping that masterpiece. Problem is you aimed for the top by going with TWD, and you fucking nailed it.
      Only way I see you beating that build is doing the Kaneda Powerbike from Akira.. Not saying you should do the KANEDA POWERBIKE FROM AKIRA, but if you did do the Kaneda Powerbike from Akira, it would actually top this build.
      Very few people have pulled off the Kaneda Powerbike from Akira, but those who do .. (build the Kaneda Powerbike from Akira I mean) are legend ;p
      /s jokes aside (do the powerbike!!!) this bike is amazing. I really want to move mine towards this, though I'm keeping my clip ons. The moto cross bars look great, but I prefer the feel and look of clip-ons. Keep up the good work brother! I'm subbed now, so I expect good things ;p (no pressure)

    hi david! nice done work. what fuel tank did you take for that. is it from xs 650?

    • @DavidLahiffe
      @DavidLahiffe  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes an xs 650 tank was fitted thanks sir! :)

    • @akumabito2008
      @akumabito2008 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +David Lahiffe I'm ooking for a tank for my own replica.. the correct tanks are pretty expensive. The XS650 came with two different tanks: with the filler in the middle, and a more common version with the filler cap on the right. You need one with the filler cap in the center to be the same as on TV.

      +David Lahiffe Hi David, in video I can see double disc front wheel brake - stock cb750 front wheel is not double disc equipped. Can you tell if this is yam R6 front end or stock wheel with some additions you made?
      Great job man! Thanks for sharing

    • @DavidLahiffe
      @DavidLahiffe  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's a standard disc brake on the f2n. so no swapping was needed thanks.
