Did you ever look into dyi head massages? There's some evidence to suggest chronically tight scalps are responsible for hair loss and specific massage techniques over time can help with regrowth? You also didn't mention micro needling. Have you looked into this solution?
there's new findings you not mention in this comprehensive video. surprisingly some muscle tension on our forehead is responsible for hair growth. it's accidentally found when people taking some botox on forehead regain his hairlines, it's repeatable success. there's ongoing research and you can find reputable source / paper for it.
@@tann_man yes! there's some new study about muscle tension on scalps and its relation for hair growth / loss. it should be mentioned here. here some video talking about it th-cam.com/video/Yehk_h_Uj6k/w-d-xo.html
My husband started balding in his early 20s. He did a hair transplant in EU for about 5,000€ in 2014 for 3,500 follicles. After the surgery he did nothing… and although his hair implanted well, he kept losing the remaining hair. About 5 years later he did another transplant( again in the EU for 5,500€) but this time he started taking both finasteride and minoxidil after the surgery and oh boy did it make a difference! He’s currently taking a very low dose of finasteride 3 times per week and and 10 drops of 5mg minoxidil every night and after 1 year post-surgery his hair started looking amazing! He’s in his early 40s now and with the full head of hair he looks younger than he was looking when I first met him 15 years ago. Until this day he regrets not starting on finasteride & minoxidil earlier.
I read FDA was posting some caution ⚠️ statement for finas is that true ? It was stating something related to pcpt study I guess not sure on the term exactly
@@everythingisfine9988 im taking 1 MG of dutasterid since december 21 and i have no side efects. Im 27 years old, going to the gym 6 times a week, with a decent muscular evolution.
The comment section of this video makes me feel so much less alone. I'm 26 and only noticed my hairloss last year. It has honestly brought down my overall happiness and am doing my best to avoid thinking about it. The worst is when im having a good day and then a youtube video goes into a Keeps sponsorship about male pattern baldness and I'm once again reminded about it... ugh. I didn't notice all the hairloss marketing until I put myself in that category. But i wont fall into it. My sex drive is already low enough I wont risk further loss of it with a drug. My girlfriend reassures me all the time that she either doesn't notice/or doesnt care if i lost my hair. But that doesn't make me feel better for some reason, I still feel like im losing my identity. And no other guys around me seem to talk about it, so i process this all by myself. I wish people were more open about their hairloss experience. Thank you for sharing yours. My plan is to just accept my fate. I still like my hair as it is now, but when it gets worse I will shave it; and it will simply be a new chapter in life with new things to look forward to.
Embrace the baldness is better for our self esteem and our pockets! The majority of men will be bald anyway, we need to accept that this is just a part of being a man, this is a way healthier way to approach the situation 👨🏻🦲👨🏿🦲
Evan, Mane i feel ya . you got yourself a supportive girlfriend . You need to wife her up. she's a good one, y'all are a solid match. The other guys either have thin crowns to begin with and are silent about it because they trying to their best to maintain what they've got and others are trying to salvage whatever that's left because of too much coloring cutting etc.. don't go thinking its all peaches and cream. everyone learns to keep their cards close until nature blows sheit open.
Finasteride doesn’t low sex drive. Sad that you bought into that lie. Even if you’re one of the tiny percentage of people who are negatively affected by it (most of which is just a nocebo effect), you can always go off it without any long term negative effects on libido. Post finasteride syndrome is a complete hoax invented by chronically depressed inceIs who want to cash in on frivolous lawsuits against pharma companies. I’d highly suggest you watch videos from a channel called “Haircafe” on TH-cam. He systematically and comprehensively debunks all the pseudoscience fearmongering about 5-AR inhibitors. The hysteria and horror stories about finasteride and dutasteride are total bunk. I managed to save and regrow most of my hair, regained my confidence, and had zero issues with libido or ED (in fact, I had a slight increase in libido).
@@PinkManGuy he has a point though. I'm bald now to due to hair loss at 27, and it took a while to accept. If we're otherwise healthy, there are far, far, far worse things we can go through. I can't even grow a beard lol but can grow a mustache.
@Abdullah kamal I did! Finasteride gave me really bad side effects. I was unlucky. Now I'm at the hair loss of Jason Statham at 31. I gave up on it. I can always save for a hair transplant but it is what it is.
this is pretty wild. for context, i'm a girl and my family has really good genes when it comes to hair, so i've never really had to think about this at all. thanks for sharing this, it's really opened my eyes and i sympathize a lot more now w people who have to deal with this issue!
Same. I love my hair and the thought of inevitably losing it all like that is horrifying and heartbreaking. I feel a lot more for guys who start balding now. I never knew how early it started either.
@@libra9381 I started loosing my hair in my mid 18s so you can imagine the impact it had on my mental health (big depression) hopefully I did a hair transplant last year and now I'm back :))) (I'm 23)
Just a correction -you state you have lowered levels of testosterone but in fact you have higher levels. You said it yourself - inhibition of 5 alpha reductase inhibits conversion thus reducing DHT.
Correction to correction: short term on fin, your testosterone production stays the same, but since less of it is converted to DHT, your testosterone level goes up. Long term, your body adapts, so you testosterone production decreases, but as less of it is converted to DHT, your final testosterone level ends up being at natural levels prior to taking fin
My father, who’s bald himself, wanted to support me to get hair treatments and stuff when I started losing hair at 19. He’s a doctor and had friends who could help me out with it but I said fuck it, I’ll just own what I have. I shaved it all off last year and have been a proud Baldie ever since. All that anxiety and paranoia disappeared with the first shave. Trust me, it’s the best feeling to not worry about your hair 24x7. Edit: Few people have commented on how I seem to wear caps in all my videos and while this did offend me at first, I realized that I didn't accept the bald look 100% and was hiding it subconsciously. So, I confronted this insecurity and uploaded my first video with the bald look of me playing guitar. Accepting the reality one step at a time. Thank you to those who pointed out my hypocrisy. The song I mentioned: th-cam.com/video/kEpxtXvxzHE/w-d-xo.html
I appreciate when you're able to share your personal experiences like with the food delivery episode since it allows for a hands-on perspective that adds to the narrative, and all in all another great video! As someone who isn't even out of university yet but very much values his hair, hopefully the information here will serve me well when I inevitably have to face the balding problem, even though I'll most likely learn to rock the bald look or make use of wigs I already like wearing for cosplay anyways (just gotta find a wig that doesn't itch when I actually get a high end one...).
I started to go bald at 18, lost my confidence at 19. I remember when I was rinsing my face and hair in the bathroom sink and the hair just started to fall off. Literal chunks where coming off when I ran my fingers through it. You’ll never understand how important hair is unless you’ve lost it. I loved styling my hair and never had a hat on, but as my hair changed so did my attitude towards hats. Now I wear them everywhere. I have to because I genuinely feel disgusted when looking in the mirror. I’ve already lost so much of my life to this. I’m already 24 and feel like my life is just sliding by while I just keep hiding my embarrassment and stay away from people. Hopefully one day I can afford to go to surgery and get my life back.
Use topical minoxidil at the least and additionally use finasteride tablets if you want to stop hairfall completely and reverse your balding completely. Side effects in finasteride are temporary and in only 4% population. Can discontinue if you feel the side effects. I'm a doc, you can trust me.
@@From02HeroGaming I have watched him but I know for a fact I would look god aweful bald. I’m to the point I would risk my sexual function though a slim chance to be able to look at myself without disgust.
I wish this was available when I was in my twenties. Eventually took the leap and just shaved it for the better but I definitely considered most of what you discussed. Easy to maintain and actually more confident now that I don't have to worry about combing my hands through my hair every time the wind goes by. Great work!
I'm 25 now and I've been balding hard myself since the past 3-4 years. Tbh it was pretty bad when it started, just sitting at a desk and brushing through my hair softly left like 25+ hairs falling down to my desk, which was quite unsettling, having my "youth" leave me so early. Even going so far as shaving my head like 1 year into the whole thing, but I didn't wanna keep it cause of my egg shaped head and the effort repeating the shaving every 2-4 weeks lol. Now since I lost most of my hair on the forehead, it's actually not so unsettling anymore, brushing through my hair doesn't make A LOT fall out anymore since there's just not much left to fall out.. It was actually much more scary to me to lose my hair than just not having hair. I've been to the dermatologist couple years back as well and she recommended me some minoxidil or finasterid stuff, as a student I wasn't really able/willing to afford it for 80 or something euro and went for the shave instead, I thought there was more value in learning to live with my biology instead of shelling out money to fix what I've been born with in the gene lottery. It also wasn't quite appealing to me that I'd have to apply it daily for ever basicly.. As I was looking at pictures of my (20 years) older brother and my father, I've actually discovered the exact same balding pattern. Even on photos where my brother was 20ish years old, he had a pretty bald forehead already which kinda gave me some comfort. I think most people are not too bothered if they see a baldy, it's much more that it makes yourself insecure because of your own self image. To conclude of course I'd prefer having my full hair from my teenage years back, I've always been rocking a long curly hair style, but it is what it is now. Ideologicly, I'm not too much of a supporter of cosmetic surgery, I wouldn't wanna undergo surgery unless it is a medical necessity. Same counts for my teeth, I should've gotten braces as a younger but now it's just kinda whatever, as long as I don't get bad/dirty teeth because of it or severe pain due to them pushing into each other, I'm just gonna live with my naturally crooked teeth, I see it more of a trait of my family and well in nature not everything's perfectly symmetrical. Maybe after I finish university and earn multiple thousands a month, my view will change but for now, I'm just gonna live with how I am.
Thanks for sharing, i wish i can find words wich conforts you. Like you mentioned most of worries come from ourselves, and people usually don't care about our looking, especially our closest ones. Good luck.
Just turned 23 and actively seeing my hairline recede is honestly heart breaking. I'm not conventionally attractive either so hair is even more important to me. I've started taking finasteride and plan on getting a hair transplant by the time I'm 29 30 if it gets significantly worse
Do you mind sharing how’s your receding been. I’m nearly 30 and started thinning at 21. It’s been 9 years and while it’s definitely noticeable growing my hair out has made it significantly less of an issue.
Great video dude! Please reconsider the "touch-up" next year. If you like your current result, call it a win, and preserve your donor area for a rainy day down the road. Very rarely will a clinic advise you against the thing they do. (I used to sell this procedure for hair club).
A lot of stuff in this video is true but I have to digress. Hair loss is not the same as balding. I've gone to almost 3 clinics that claimed that I had male patterned baldness (at the ripe age of 18). I've been shedding hair massively and also started forming a spot at the back of my head (now I'm in my mid twenties). Finasteride and Minoxidil definitely showed really good results, but I wasn't ready to sacrifice my testosterone and energy levels for the sake of maintaining my hair, just didn't seem right. After a lot of reading and going through several papers and stories online, I found out that I never actually had patterned baldness but just a case of severe telogen effluvium. Please remember that not all hair loss is balding. Clinics tend to sell you that narrative even if your condition is different to put you on life long meds or surgery. I was genuinely able to grow my hair after eliminating stress from my life (including not worrying about hair), sleeping well and eating well, I shampoo only once a month after my haircut(because shampoos have done me more harm than good), but ofc take a warm shower daily. I also massage my scalp very lightly to get the blood flowing. One of the main reasons I felt I wasn't balding was because there hasn't been a genetic history of balding in my family. Plus I never had the 'typical' receding hairline - sure my hairline was receding, but it felt like my hair was fragile (like just pulling on it would make it fall) . That felt like the core issue. Before you conclude that you're balding, make sure you educate yourself first on the types of hair loss that's possible. It's very easy to be confused/convinced. Next, set things that are in your control right - diet(massive emphasis on this), sleep, stress and hair products. Make sure you don't have any infections or auto immune disorders, severe dandruff can also lead to massive hair loss. And after you've done all this, I'd suggest trying Minoxidil first. If that works well then you're definitely one of the luckier people and it could potentially halt your condition. If all this fails, then think of surgery or just shaving. Definitely not worth trying the finasteride. And if you do decided to let nature have its way, then that's also completely fine, there's courage in that. Your value isn't in your hair, it's probably just time to accept that and move on. I hope this helps anyone who's reading.

95% of hairloss is due to Androgenic Alopecia. Telogen Effelium does happen whenever a person experiences something really stressful, but hormonal hairloss is the culprit 9/10 times
I love that you shared you own personal journey along with what business facts you managed to find. I’m a hairstylist and while I mainly specialize in women’s hair extensions, currently, my partner suffers from male pattern baldness and I would love to get into the male hair pieces side, even if I’m only doing it for him. From my side, it’s also incredibly difficult to discover reputable hair companies who sell quality pieces and provide the quality education to go with them. As much as I love my career, it’s a really frustrating industry to work in sometimes. I feel like 90% of what I’ve learned in my 7 years in the industry has mainly been trial and error on my own part so I’m really happy to see others making content concerning my industry!
I got my hair transplant done in China and my friend did his in HK. We had pretty great results. It was about 5K USD, but due to China's current situation I guess I wouldn't recommend it. Still, my hairline looks better than it did when I was 18.
How long did it take to grow in? Taking a week off of work seems reasonable, but taking two months off would be tricky. Maybe in between jobs would be ideal.

In my late 20's I started noticing more hair in my hands than usual after washing my hair, and a slightly receding hairline. I'm almost 30 now and it hasn't gotten that much worse; could just be some natural recession that can be expected as you enter your 30's, but I decided that I'm not going to worry about it. It's natural, it happens to most of us. If it gets to 'that' point I'd rather just wholesale shave it off than be reliant on medications or do surgeries.

Thank you for this very personal video. I found it really interesting to see what options you picked and why. My hair loss started with 25. At the time I also researched extensively what options I had to prevent balding. I came across the same methods that you mentioned here in this video. I didn't want to become "dependent" on medication at that young age and was also afraid of the side effects. At the end, I chose to live with the hair loss and deal with it. I am 34 now and do not regret my decision. If anything, it has made me more confident. This comment section feels like some kind of support group ;D
There'll unfortunately never be a cure to balding even if one is found because the hair loss industry is so lucrative and makes so much money. They'd literally choose to instead take advantage of men's insecurities and desperation to extort them for money instead of actually finding a universal and permanent solution.
I did see some videos about a new potential "cure" for baldness that has been discovered lately called "Scube3", and it looks promising, but I wouldn't hold my breath on it, I really don't want to give my hopes up, if it works out, I'll definitely use it, but I might be 30 by the time it's out, I might not even care anymore at that point, but we'll see. Anyways, no one should have to deal with hairloss, but it happens, hairloss is just a cosmetic issue, one that has the potential to cause mental problems as well, I hope someday we'll get a cure of some kind, but for now, it's either shave it or fight it.
No, the solution would just need to be priced accordingly. If finasteride is 30/month then the value of a permanent solution would need to be calculated against what people already pay over a lifetime. And not to mention some people give up maintenance...so those lifetime customers aren't guaranteed. So a permanent solution would be a total gold mine.
No, the reason why there wont be a cure, is that genetic hairloss is incurable. You cannot alter your genetics. Thats why there are only rubbish like Finasteride on the market, which can stop hairloss, but at the price of changing your hormones.
@@hhjhj393 if we have cures for deadly diseases then i’m pretty damn sure we have a cure to baldness there’s literally no excuse but thankfully scientists in japan have successfully regrown hair follicles so i’m sure we are close to a cure only time will tell
I started balding before my beard had filled in and yeah, I didn't have the best opinion of how I looked at that time. Eventually I understood that the only people with an opinion were the same ones trying to sell me a solution to my "problem".
My dermatologist asked me if my family has history of balding. And i told him that on my dad's side everyone has lush, healthy hair while on my mom's side most men are bald in their thirties. So he prescribed me minoxidil and told me to use it for a month (60 ml). No pills. Just this. And like magic, my hair started regrowing. Now i can see slow but steady growth of hair covering the same area i had back in college. I must also mention that I've been doing yoga, breathing exercises, sleeping early, etc. which could also be part of the reason why my hair is regrowing. But yeah.. luckily my hair loss was due to mostly external factors and unhealthy lifestyle. So it was fixed with simply minoxidil and positive changes in my lifestyle
Listen to javier. I used minoxidil for 2 years without using finasteride. I grew hair back but then lost it worst than before within the same 2 years. I got on .5mg daily finasteride pills and kept using minoxidil. That was the only thing that helped me grow some hair without losing it. I dont have a full head of hair right now but its better than it would be without any meds to help
I started thinning in my mid-twenties but it really accelerated after I turned 30. I’ve been wet-shaving my head for several years now and I absolutely love the way it looks.
My geneline (dad and grandad from both parents), is one of the rare ones who start losing they're hair during their teens. My hair started thinning somewhere around 15-17. I thought I was a stoic since it didn't bother me for too long and just shaved my head at 19 but I was wrong. I'm 22 now, growing out my hair and my top hair that I never cut for a year and a half is still shorter and thinner than the rest. It looks somewhere around stage 3-4. The feeling and damage to your self-confidence sucks big time.
Same bro. For some reason hair loss didn't bother me a first. I just shaved my head. But eventually you don't have a youthful hairline anymore and you realize that actually you do give a fuck because it's starting to negatively impact your appearance.
I have been blessed with ungodly amount of hair and no hair loss in sight. But also been cursed with double cowlicks and stubbornly straight hair, it require constant haircut for maintenance and lots of pomade to style it. But I'm extremely grateful for what it is. Still. I truly feels bad for men who experience early balding and forced to embrace it or forks some money for it. My friends have a serious loss of confidence after some severe sudden balding. Anyways great content man, Keep up the good work.

I have dark hair and also 2 cowlicks with straight hair too, and the slicked hairstyle with pomade is my best look, I think our hair type fits well the side part. I experimented with shorter cuts, but my hairline has never been good enough to suit it.
The crazy thing is there are numerous people in this video who would look GREAT with a shaved head. Confidence and how you see yourself is a powerful thing.
Correction: finasteride does not lower testosterone! It lowers dihydrotestosterone. In fact, testosterone levels actually increase on finasteride because less of it can be transformed into DHT by the body.
I was losing hair in my early 30s. The crown was bald. Although my hairline did not recede but the hair was getting thinner. Medication did not work. After doing some research I got a hair transplant. I did it at a specialist office in midtown Manhattan. This was back in 2005 and I still regarded as some of the best money I ever spent.
@@ashihtaka absolutely not. Once they are in they stay in. They move them from a strip around the back of your head; those hairs never fall out. Or almost never. It looks extremely natural because it is. And actually I never lost all the hair on top except on the crown anyway. So it was blended in what was already there. And I don't care if the crown is bald because I can't see that in the mirror. It really is the best solution in my opinion.
I have a friend with severe alopecia he just shaved his head bald. Once I knew he was coming into town to kick it with me I did too just so he can feel comfortable. He took his hat off when he saw me and never put it back on.
Man I'm really grateful I am happy being shaved. I was on keeps for a few months with no satisfactory results. Bought some clippers and got rid of it. I now spend significantly less on hair products, eliminated monthly haircut costs, showers are quicker, I can wear any hat I want, and I'm not stressed over it all. I look younger, stronger, more confident. Should've done this when I was 20.
I started experiencing hair loss in my mid 20s and have been using minoxidil ever since. The generic minoxidil is an affordable OTC treatment, that you can start right away when you're not 100% ready for finasterid or surgery. It may not work for everyone but it's better than debating between the more invasive treatments while doing nothing and losing hair.
@@Honesty361 there are alternatives in the market , which appear safe . Dermatologists recommend them. Many dermatologists now do not recommend minoxidil for various reasons. Even the hair transplant clinics that I approached in Turkey do not recommend it. I am using "neo follics" hair growth stimulating lotions , which does the same job of minoxidil, but safer.
Yea. I thought it would rise my testosterone level by limitting its conversion to dht so it would help me make gains in the gym. I told that to my doctor and she laughed. She explained to me that even if you lower its conversion to dht it's too low as an amount to do any significant impact. I'd say I'm a hyper responder on finasteride(I gained extremly good results on this medication alone) without any side effect. I do think that most post finasteride syndrom are mostly due to a placebo effect. 4% of side effect or even less than that 4% means that you would likely experience no side effect. My oncle, who's pretty good looking that even younger girls are trying to hit on him, but he is starting to suffer from male pattern hairloss, refuse to get on finasteride due to his friend that heard from another friend from somewhere on the internet that finasteride give you really bad side effect while I did my research before taking the medication and took a huge W. I'm sure we'll see the end of the tunel because more companies are getting involved to find cures for hairloss. Few months ago, the FDA approved a new drug in 20 years for hairloss. But it's not for male pattern hairloss. The new treatment I'd put my bet on that would cure hairloss forever and even acnee issues is GT20029. It's currently in the phase 1 trial. It's a protein degrader that can get rid of our androgen receptors and it doesn't go systemic. Basically, it means that it would make our hair immortal against male pattern hairloss. So get on finasteride to last until this kind of treatment comes out. Have a safe ride.
Yup, the % of people with side effects is too low for me not to at least try it. I'm going to hop onto Finasteride when I can afford to, maybe one day even do a small transplant even tho I have most of my hair from my teens cause why not
Awh, came here for some good' ol business controversy, ended up with a tear in my eye for the wholesome South Korean medical story. Thumbs up, this was a nice video to watch.
Wow, congrats, man! As an Asian male, I know how difficult it is to even get a haircut in America -- many barbers find it difficult to cut my thick hair, so I'm glad you were able to find a welcoming space to get your surgery.
Youre Asian and are balding? I mean except for you and the videomaker Asians dont really have to care about baldness. Caucasians do but they often have great facial hair growth for that. I am talking about the MAJORITY in both cases.
Great video, very informative. Been having the same issue for a few years. I’m about to get an FUT procedure done next month. A few details: 1) Price range for US surgeon given is correct, mine will cost about $10k. FUE is more expensive (depending on the number of grafts needed) and is better for smaller amounts of hair loss, so it’s ideal for those looking to fill in gaps but not for substantial loss. 2) Foreign FUT procedures can be somewhat touch and go. I’ve heard of some people being lucky and some having issues. Personally I’d rather pay more for a board-certified plastic surgeon in America with a great track record, especially since it allows you to have more follow-ups with them to maximize results, which are often included in the surgery price (mine are). Glad you had luck in SK, sounds like the best international option. 3) I don’t recommend minoxidil. It barely helped me hold onto hair, and ultimately was a waste of time. Never used finasteride but have heard so many horror stories that it was never personally an option for me. I’d rather pay for a follow-up procedure later (if needed) than risk libido and mood changes. 4) If you do choose surgery, plan it far ahead and make sure to take time off work. You’ll be tired from having to sleep upright the first few days and groggy from surgery. Not looking forward to it personally, but it’s part of the healing process. If anyone has any questions, I’m happy to provide input, though I may be better positioned to answer them after my surgery in late September.
If you aren't on fin or dut, you will inevitably need that touch up sooner or later, and then likely an equal timeframe later be approaching the shave it club. I'm guessing your surgeon told you this and urged you to get on one. The only way I can think of avoiding this outcome without either drug would be something super experimental and not scientifically validated, like a topical anti-androgen such as RU-58841 (which due to the lack of studies is a whole lot more risky than fin or dut), or very regular and cummatively expensive PRP treatments. There are some other drugs in clinical trials showing promise but we won't have phase III results for another year or two, let alone public availability if they do work and get approved.
@@danielgrinevich8503 Still recovering from my surgery from yesterday. It was a lot more painful than expected but it seems to have gone well otherwise. I will be having follow-ups daily until the donor site sutures are removed this coming Wednesday. I’ll add more details once that takes place.
@@b-41subject57 So there’s three “processes” that take place during an FUT procedure that can hurt: the donor site removal (where they cut the hair/skin section off the lower back of your head), the recipient site cuts (where the grafts will go), and the placement of the grafts into the cuts. For me, the donor site removal was just uncomfortable and did not hurt, as the topical anesthetic did its job. The placement site cuts barely felt like anything at all, it’s just weird to hear the little cuts being made in your scalp. The placement of the grafts for me was where it hurt, and I think it’s solely because the anesthetic wore off about halfway through the placement. I was dumb and should have immediately mentioned it but delayed and suffered a good deal of pain before bringing it up. When I did, the pain ceased and the rest of the placement went well. The lesson: this isn’t supposed to hurt that bad during the procedure. If it does, tell them immediately and they will give you more anesthetic and wait for it to take effect.
22, Had a receding hairline since I was 18 and looking back at my habits did attribute to my baldness because of the bad stuff that they put on products which can destroy your hair follicles. My family typically have decent genes but no one was bald or had a receding hairline at a young age and now I am thinking I will be the first one but at the same time I doubt it since my grandfather still had hair and a receding hairline obv. For a lot of dudes like me that have a receding hairline kind of impacts in our dating options in the market which is why we want to take fynestdile to grow our lost hair or have a transplant in order to look more attractive and confident. Thank you for telling the truth about the business.
Same I started experience tons of shedding and diffuse thinning at 18 I experienced a few health problems too. Mpb is very strong in my family on both mom and dad's side lol
Exactly!!!’ Read the book “nutrition and hair loss, a new perspective” by Varis Ahmad. Hair loss is health related 100%. I started to lose hair when I really damaged my health. The book is amazing and i realized that our so called doctors have no clue about hair loss. It’s all about our health
@@Avicena-tf5uj No it’s not all about health. If it was about “health “ then finasteride wouldn’t be an affective treatment. Hair loss is androgen related. DHT +sensitive follicles =bald.
Honestly I always worried and stressed about losing my hair Held on to it for way too long past the point of no return I then took the plunge and shaved the whole thing… never looked back it was by far the best decision ever Not only I look and feel better but also I don’t need to spend money on medication, haircuts, hair gel, shampoo or conditioner
Same here, I shaved it in the early stage of my hair loss (around 22ish yrs of age) so that I’d still have the option to do a transplant in case the shaved style wouldn’t suit me. Today, at 26 yrs of age, I haven’t looked back since. No transplant needed. Super satisfied.
Stop the cope, you are not better looking without hair, no one is. What you are...is a cue ball, repulsive to younger women, a sign of and a constant reminder of your bad genetics. If you want to be treated better, do not preach going bald, its stupid..
I started balding at 18. I am now 21 and don't know whether I should go with hair recovery procedures or just shave off. I expected to become bald because I have many bald relatives, but I didn't expect it to happen in my teens. It came as quite a shock.
I'm in the same boat as you, I started balding when I was 19 (22 now). Last year I shaved my head to see if I liked how I looked bald to see if it was something I would be happy with (It was). My advice would be to shave your head and see if you can rock the bald look happily or whether you would be happier going down the recovery route. IMO there is no reason not to try both options, and being bald is definitely the cheaper one to trial first lmao. If you are happy with being bald then you can save a lot of money, and if not, you haven't really lost anything and can pursue other avenues. Realising you are going bald as a teenager is a certified bruh moment so I feel your pain.
Dht causes hair loss. You CAN save your hair and regain some. It's likely you eat badly. Get the nutrients you need and take a quality dht blocker and use peppermint oil or rogaine topically. If you wait too long your hair follicle will die and there won't be hope
I just turned 21 I started balding at 16. This May will be a year after my FUE done in the States. I would say, like the other reply, to shave it and see how you feel. Personally though, gunning it and getting a 3,000 graft, 8 hour procedure was completely worth it to me. I feel like a new man entirely.

Start shaving your hair now, so when you'll be acctually bald, people won't know the difference, plus you'll save a lot in shampoos and will never need to go to a Barber shop again
Ignore all the copers who've replied to you. Hair is a deeply personal decision, and I know some guys who objectively became much uglier when they went bald.
get on finasteride (1mg) and oral minoxidil (2.5mg) asap! you'll save, restore, and increase the width of your hair. you'll be looking good and young for lots of years to come. personally, i've had such great results from these drugs... my self esteem got restored along side with the hair, cheers :)
I had a hair transplant last month in Thailand and it was the best thing I ever did. I came across a podcast about this guy a few days ago who believes that hair loss is linked to the tightness of the scalp, there's been a few experiments where people have been injected with botox and they grew the hair back! There's a lot of scientific stuff which I'm not the best at explaining. But I think transplants will be a lot less common in the next 25 years and I think we will have plenty of solutions in the future. But it is a business and I do believe there is a lot of evidence that could help people grow their hair without having to spend a lot of money but of course the powers that be won't let that out. The podcast is on a channel called - what I learned and it's about 30 minutes long. Definitely worth a listen if you are thinking about growing hair as the guy talks about exercises you can do to relieve tension in your scalp and promote hair growth. It sounds a bit weird but when he explains the process you can see how this all works. There's also a lot of evidence. Anyways have a good day
no offense dude but let us know how the hair transplant looks after a year or so. You cannot measure the success of a hair transplant after only a month.

I really appreciate you making this video and sharing your experiences. I honestly came into this thinking you were going to reveal a bunch of corruption in the industry, but ended up sticking around until the very end. Though it wasn't the content I was looking for, I feel enlightened that, as a woman who will never have to experience this, I now have a much better understanding of what it's like for guys who are balding. I never thought much about it and it's heartbreaking and genuinely terrifying to think about inevitably losing your hair through no fault of your own, especially if you love your hair. That combined with social anxiety would be awful. Thank you very much for making this video and educating your audience on the subject. _I'm probably gonna get a bunch of videos related to balding for liking this video, but you deserved it._
And the incidence of females suffering from hair loss is increasing. Just check the r/femalehairloss and see how many depressing posts there are daily :(
As someone who is also balding, i appreciate this video and your openness. I took in all the data as you did, but ultimately decided on a "hair system" (a wig) and not a HT. Why? Taking a testosterone inhibitor for the rest of you life is scary, and i felt a HT would still give me whispy, non-dense hair. Pro of a hair system is that it is immediate, with no travel and not the 6-months of healing. (Also no scars, and no repeat surgery). The con is that it will run you $2500 to $5000 a year depending if you DIY it or go to a full service salon. I am 5 months in and wish I had done it sooner. No one will ever understand how hair loss can effect your sense of self unless they went through it too. Thank you again for the video.
@@ryebread7905 No need to be parinoid because it's never going to "fall off". It doesn't work that way. Not sure why you think you are not being honest. Women wear foundation, makeup, eye lashes, pushup bras, Spanx, etc. Men wear cologne and deodorant. It's not for everyone, but personally I love it and wish I had done it years before.
I'm 31 and have been balding since I was approx. 26. It does suck, and really effects your sense of worth, particularly with stuff like online dating where images and looks are everything. I did initially try taking finasteride orally, however, I was too worried about the side effects so decided that I wouldn't take it. Thankfully a company came out in the UK that makes a topical finasteride & minoxidil hybrid, which is great. I've used it for about a year and a half and it has done wonders for my hair loss. I'd recommend it to anyone that is losing their hair.
You didn’t mention Dutasterids which is essentially a slightly stronger version of finasteride. Ashton Kutcher has spoken candidly about using it to stop his hair loss but no longer uses it as he wanted to start a family and be off this medication. He has also added that now that he is in his 40’s, he doesn’t see hair loss as, as much of big of a deal than when he was in his 20’s.
Thanks for making this video. Hit way too close to home for me. I think I first noticed hair loss when I was 19 so it must have started when I was 18. I went into pretty deep depression after realizing what was going on. I couldn't leave the house without a hat and would often decline invitations to a lot of events. I got on fin almost immediately after and it's definitely helped slow the hair loss down. Almost a decade later, I can still pull off the look of someone with a full head of hair (with the help of concealers) but I know that won't last either. That's the thing with hair loss and its treatments. No matter how much money you spend or how skilled your surgeon is, you're really only buying time.
Just take finasteride mate, it literally stops hair loss in 90% of men. We understand enough about hair loss to stop it these days you just need to be in the know about fin, dutasteride, minoxidil, microneedling. If you understand them, know how they interact with eachother, you can save your hair even if you don't respond that well to one of them.
That's not entirely true! Finasteride stops hair loss dead in it's tracks. As long as you stay on it you won't lose anymore hair. If you combine it with minox you can have a great head of hair going into your senior years. You have better hair genetics than most guys who are experiencing male pattern baldness if you haven't lost all your hair yet so theres still time for you
@@stephensporman8206 Everyone responds differently to medications. I've been on fin and minoxidil for many years now and I can confidently say I'm still losing hair, just at a much slower rate. I wished fin alone could stop hair loss for me.

No. Androgenetic alopecia is a suicide act by the hair follicles. It is a hair follicle's - an actual organ of the human body - disease. And we need a cure.
As someone who went full buzzed bout 5 months ago - just do it! It's sooo much better not worrying about styling, the rain, the wind, if people notice or not. If you're going thro it right now - take it from the supportive comments and myself all that fear is just in your head.
I've been wearing a toupee for a year now and I think it's awesome. I do the maintenance myself once a week or once every two weeks when the weather is colder. My salon told me I'd have to replace my toupee every 4 months but I'm still on my first one after a year. There is a learning curve on how to work with toupees but the results and cost savings are absolutely worth it. I am not worried about people thinking I wear fake hair. The toupee doesn't just fall off. It's stuck on real good. Good styling and fitment and you won't know unless I told you,
I started losing my hair at 16 and at 23 it got really bad so I went on finasteride & it killed my libido. I hated the idea of my hairline receding further so I stayed on finasteride for like 3 years until I decided I had enough of feeling like shit & got off. I made the decision I'd rather have a sex drive than keep my hair but trust me it wasn't an easy choice. Losing your hair makes you look old & knocks 1-3 points off your looks.
It does I took minoxidil and it did nothing for me. I still lost my hair. I shaved my head at 21 but I agree my late teens and 20s I couldn’t attract girls my own age. Now in my 30s I just get escorts on the weekends to make up for my lack of a sex life in my 20s 😂.
Something most people and women don't appreciate is that your hair is really part of your outfit, your appearance. Having a part of your wardrobe permanently changed without your consent is a very hopeless, demeaning experience for a person to have. Luckily for all of us, science is getting better all the time and luckily for me, I have an amazing beard that really makes a shaven head pop.
I'm 19 and already at stage 2, and seeing everyone around me have such amazing hair and style it in so many different ways, as a guy who's also not blessed with looks much and is pretty skinny, this was a huge blow to my confidence. I feel very uncomfortable in my own skin, and I even lack the ability to grow a proper beard right now for some reason. I'm trying to cover up some of my lackings by working out, but I can't go to the gym yet because this year I have two very important life changing exams and I have to focus on them. With that said, I always feel lonely and feel how nobody will ever be physically attracted to me and because of that I push back people who do show interest in me. I get thoughts like ooooh it's because of my dad's money or they just want to have a tall boyfriend ( that's my only advantage, in my country I'm above average tall, almost 6'5" ) or maybe they just want to make fun of me. I'm just so confused, I never wanted to be the type of guy who puts this much importance in their looks. And I always thought by this time I'd be working on honing the skills I wanted to master always. But this just takes away my attention and motivation for everything and I spend way too much time on this. At this point I just want to shed my own skin like a snake and get a new skin.
You'll get more comfortable and own your looks and physique as you grow older. You've already got a great advantage that most guys want which is height. This is life bro. Nobody has everything so we just have to learn to appreciate what we have been blessed with and be grateful for health. Men become more attractive as they get older, mainly peak around mid 20 to 30s. So keep working out and taking care of yourself and you'll soon be choosing which lady out of the choices you will have suits you the most. Your value is only gonna go up from here brother just make sure not to screw your life up by doing stupid things/drugs and hanging with the wrong people. I'm 30 and I assure you things get better.
@@HashemSmashem Thank you bro, hearing this gives me hope which I thought I had lost. You words mean a lot to me. im 31 and have had 3 hair transplants in USA ($27,000 total) I take finasteride, this special shampoo, and Rogaine as well. undoubtably my hair is massively better than if I didnt do anything but my hair is still visibly thin on my crown. I just want to warn anyone to know what they are getting into. its VERY unlikely you can just get one hair transplant and be happy with the results. I also recommend FUT (strip) cuz the healing processes is better, you get more hair per square inch, cheaper per hair follicle. its better in every way except the thin scar which is covered up by hair anyway. I had two FUT transplants and my first one was FUE
I hope they find a cure for baldness soon man, I've noticed a little bit of hairloss when I was 17, but it wasn't that bad yet, so I tried to ignore it, I was in denial up until I was 18, I didn't tell anyone about it because I was afraid I would hear something I wouldn't like such as "just accept it, shave it bald!". Eversince I realized that I am indeed losing hair, I've been extremely depressed about it, I didn't feel like doing anything for awhile, hell, I didn't even feel like doing anything unproductive like playing video games, I layed in bed alot wishing I never existed, I know that sounds kinda dramatic, but that's genuinely how I felt, I just didn't want to be involved in the world anymore... just because of hairloss, knowing how judgemental some can be about hairloss as well, especially if you're insecure about it. Speaking of people being judgemental about hairloss, I would also imagine these horrible scenarios of my family (particularly my mom's side, because they're Filipino and most of them have full heads of hair) making fun of my hairline and calling me names because of it, so because of that, I've had no confidence to go to any of their parties/gatherings, or to just go see them in general, it's not healthy man... It's insult to injury considering I already feel like my youth has been wasted, I really didn't do anything interesting in my teens, I didn't even make any friends, and now I'm 20, losing my hair, and I don't have a job yet, I feel like a loser, it's a bit harder to keep the motivation to get my life together while dealing with hairloss, I'll still try of course, but I feel like this whole time my life has gone nowhere, and when I started losing my hair, I started to hate life... I hope things gets better at some point though. Anyway, this is why I personally don't make fun of anyone who is losing their hair, no one should have to deal with hairloss, but it happens, hairloss _is_ just a cosmetic issue, one that has the potential to cause mental problems as well, I hope someday we'll get a cure of some kind, but for now, it's either shave it or fight it.

MY EXPERIENCE: Been on Finasteride for 12 years. In my 20s, hair loss suddenly started aggressively and after a few years I began Finasteride. The hair loss completely stopped. I have the same amount of hair today that I had 12 years ago. 10 years ago I did a hair transplant to restore the crown, 1300 follicles. I’ve had zero side effects with the drug, and all the transplanted hair is still there. After a decade of on and off working out, I began serious bodybuilding 1 year ago. I am pretty surprised as I’ve gained about 20 lbs of lean mass and lift more than I ever did in my 20s. So it seems Finasteride had zero effect on my fitness, as expected. Just adding my experience since you mostly hear the horror stories.

I have a hair transplant too! I was balding at 23 and decided to get it done. It took an entire year of my then-meager salary to pay it off, but my surgeon was great and it was wholly worth it. At nearly 40, I’m about due for a touch up (for now I fill with Caboki, which is a messy but great product). It’s been nice having hair for a decade and a half longer than I thought I would. I do have a scar from it, but I’m the kind of guy who likes that sort of thing and I cut my hair to show it off (though if it’s not your thing, it’s easy to hide, as it’s on the back of your head full of hair). Like this vid says, it’s essential that your doctor has a catalog of great results.
Yeah, it is really worthy . I took transplant session, too. It gives a new life. The funny thing is, the new hair line is even better than the old hair line "before losing the hair" 🤣

there's new findings you not mention in this comprehensive video. surprisingly some muscle tension on our forehead is responsible for hair growth. it's accidentally found when people taking some botox on forehead regain his hairlines. it's ongoing research and you can find reputable source / paper for it.
So happy you took care of yourself and did this for you. Congrats! Looks great so far and I am sure it will only get better. I never knew much about this and appreciate your personal perspective!
You stated that as soon as you come off fin and min, you lose the results. This is fairly accurate, except a few studies have shown results stay much longer - 6 months or more - in as much as 70% of men who took one or both, and also incorporated microneedling the scalp between once every week and three weeks (2 different studies) for a period of time before stopping all treatments. Just wanted to point this out because this video is very well done and this minor correction might help you and others.
I had some amazing results with FUE when I started to bald around 35. However, the density results started to diminish as you will soon find out for yourself perhaps later on when the rest of your non-donor area hair starts to bald and what's left is the result of your FUE-treated head of hair. You probably won't have enough donor hair left on your sides at this point to perform further FUE treatments since this will result in your sides looking sparse. The best and only option now for me is to wear a hair system which I've been doing for the past 3 years and so far I'm fine with that considering the alternative. After all, what's there not to love about having lustrous new and healthy hair every 3 months to style, color, and damage it with various chemicals used regularly by other people with natural hair! 😆
I'm pushing seventy and have a very full head of hair. However, so many of my contemporaries have or are still disturbed by their balding or baldness. It IS a medical condition, just not one that our greed-based health care system takes seriously. But--look at teenage and adult acne and its devastating effects, and they don't care about that either. Disgusting. Great video, I watched with interest!
it is a natural phenoma of growing older, just happens a bit faster for some. the only people that suffer from balding are individuals that are shallow and vain. i am in my early 30s and my hairline has been thining and receiding for a few years now. if people want to get hair transplants or sixpack inplants or lip fillers or similar things to fight the symptoms (not causes) of their superficial insecurities, I don't need to cross-subsidize that through my health insurance premiums.
@@TropospherePixels My balding started at 14. Do you think that I was shallow and vain because I wanted hair just like every other single boy of my age? Thanks, I feel better now. To the OP: I don't think it's a "medical condition", it's just a genetic trait, such as height or skin color. The "cure" is to educate people to respect others, especially those who are different from you: if you were a black man in Alabama in the 1930's your skin color could have been considered a "medical condition" because it affected your quality of life, the same as baldness today. I couldn't care less about my hair if society doesn't judge me about this.
A few things I'd like to point out: Every single one of the celebs/famous people in this vid mentioned had a transplant. Finasteride does NOT lower your free testosterone levels,. It does, as mentioned, lower your DHT levels dramatically. Dutasteride is an even stronger option for hair loss/regrowth, but I'd say that is getting into territory that is not as well-studied. What happens to your hairs as you bald is that they miniaturize - they get thinner and thinner until they virtually disappear. A balding man that sweeps his hand through his hair will see many hairs that are thinner than others. A large minority of men will experience some regrowth of hair on finasteride, but the degree to which this happens depends a lot on how miniaturized they are when you start fin - the less so, the better your chances to thicken them up. Many longer term studies of men taking finasteride have been done, and as long as they stay on the drug, I'd guesstimate most stop losing hair completely as long as they stay on the drug daily. Some or even most will have more hair after 20 years on fin than they did when they started. Of course, you have a minority that still do lose slowly and a small minority that it doesn't work on. An even smaller minority have side effects. I had a large (4000 graft) transplant in India for 5-6k usd 7 years ago when I was 25 and went from a norwood 3 to basically a norwood 1, and have been on fin for the last seven years since with no side effects. I didn't grow much hair back from fin but I did reduce my loss to what looks like zero. If you are going to take finasteride or at least try it, hop on it asap and protect what you still have before you lose it forever.
Everyone's version of hair loss is unique and different. Some is genetic/illness, others is poor dieting, some are exposed to stressful environment or live stressful lives. Think about it, the hair cells just don't just die. They are dormant. The main reason, the nutrients are redirected or converted for other uses. Your hair cells just happened to be less priority (ie. Look up Cortisol levels link to stress and you'll see why we produce DHT via Testosterone). There are more natural remedies to strengthen or produce more hairs - Biotin and Collagen production (big factor) - Saw Palmetto or Pumpkin seeds (helps reduce DHT) - Rosemary Oil + Carrier Oil (ie. Castor, Coconut, Almond oil etc) (instead of monoxidil - see study comparison Monoxidil vs Rosemary Oil) - Use Organic Shampoo and Conditioner (Artificial Shampoo contain Sulfates) & distilled water to wash scalp. - Use of DermaPen/ Stamp/ Roller to increase bloodflow to the head (see study on Dermaroller - reawakens hair follicles) - Red Light Therapy (or PhotoBiomodulation) (improves bloodflow/ collagen activity under the skin) - Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment (ie. increase bloodflow activity) - Good ole exercise and healthy dieting (lots of protein like red meat and eggs, hence collagen) - Reduce stress and stop worrying... take life less seriously and smile on every situation/interaction... (main reason why you see individuals who appear much older than they appear (ie. a 50 year old who looks 30 years old)) (or why a homeless or fat persons have more hair than you? they aren't stressed nor worried...) -- if you suffer from anxiety, Magnesium Glycinate can help reduce anxiety From my research, I found that environment, dieting and lifestyle make up a huge factor. Hope this helps.
After being born with extremely thin hair since birth (to the point the scalp is visible), getting bullied all the way from elementary to highschool and non-existent dating life, I finally decided to go for PRP treatment at 28. I also started hitting the gym at the same time because since my condition is since birth, there are very less chances it'd be successful. I've decided not to go for a transplant. I'd rather invest that money.

Finasteride is primarily a medicine for prostate hyperplasia. Given how much you talk about it, it's a bit weird how you only talk about it as if it was a drug developed for hair loss
The issue for me is that I'm black, and thus have "nappy" hair--the really course type at that.. I don't think many surgeons have experience with my kind of hair, especially not overseas like South Korea or Cyprus. Finding an affordable doctor who has extensive experience with my kind of hair is close to impossible
If you can afford it maybe you should just go for a consultation, you may be surprised at how much experience they may have with black people's hair. Besides, even though our hair may be different I'm not so sure that our follicles are.

Topical Finasteride and minoxidil from India. Look it up, minimal to no side effects. Oral Finasteride is the problem
Wear a hair system

Why you wear caps though?
Great content as always, also thanks for sharing such a personal experience on the matter of the hair transplant business.

Do you mind sharing how’s your receding been. I’m nearly 30 and started thinning at 21. It’s been 9 years and while it’s definitely noticeable growing my hair out has made it significantly less of an issue.
I can't get finasteride prescribed my derma is adamant with minoxidil 😭
It probably wont get any worse if you were that proactive. Relax. Youre one of the smart ones.
“Muh testosterone”
It’s literally poison, you need less of it not more. Also stop caring about your looks.

Just a small correction : FUE DOES leave scars. It's not a line type of scaring so it's less visible but it's still there.

Get on finasteride immediately, minoxidil won’t stop hairloss, only promotes hairgrowth, the finasteride will help you keep what you have
Use RU58841 and Ketoconozole Shampoo.
Listen to javier. I used minoxidil for 2 years without using finasteride. I grew hair back but then lost it worst than before within the same 2 years. I got on .5mg daily finasteride pills and kept using minoxidil. That was the only thing that helped me grow some hair without losing it. My geneline (dad and grandad from both parents), is one of the rare ones who start losing they're hair during their teens. My hair started thinning somewhere around 15-17.

@@ButThatsMuhFreeduhm Why don't Asians have to care about baldness?
Great video, very informative. Been having the same issue for a few years. I’m about to get an FUT procedure done next month. A few details:
1) Price range for US surgeon given is correct, mine will cost about $10k.
What’s the status report hahaha, how’d it go?
@@danielgrinevich8503 Still recovering from my surgery from yesterday. It was a lot more painful than expected but it seems to have gone well otherwise. I will be having follow-ups daily until the donor site sutures are removed this coming Wednesday. I’ll add more details once that takes place.
@@commanderz how painful was it? Can you describe the pain? Or was it more just discomfort, and no real pain?

Alopecia in black females is an epidemic. So yeah, we get it.
I'm 30 and I assure you things get better.

im 31 and have had 3 hair transplants in USA ($27,000 total) I take finasteride, this special shampoo, and Rogaine as well.
undoubtably my hair is massively better than if I didnt do anything but my hair is still visibly thin on my crown.
I appreciate how honest you are about your relationship with hair loss and hair loss prevention.
You are wrong about FUE not leaving scars. Fue can leave u with small circular scars.

Balding is a curse that men don't deserve.
Really appreciate you sharing your journey 🙏
@@TropospherePixels Deep fried troll...
A few things I'd like to point out:
Every single one of the celebs/famous people in this vid mentioned had a transplant.
There are more natural remedies to strengthen or produce more hairs
- Biotin and Collagen production (big factor)
- Saw Palmetto or Pumpkin seeds (helps reduce DHT)
- Rosemary Oil + Carrier Oil (ie. Castor, Coconut, Almond oil etc) (instead of monoxidil - see study comparison Monoxidil vs Rosemary Oil)
- Use Organic Shampoo and Conditioner (Artificial Shampoo contain Sulfates) & distilled water to wash scalp.
- Use of DermaPen/ Stamp/ Roller to increase bloodflow to the head (see study on Dermaroller - reawakens hair follicles)
- Red Light Therapy (or PhotoBiomodulation) (improves bloodflow/ collagen activity under the skin)
- Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment (ie. increase bloodflow activity)
- Good ole exercise and healthy dieting (lots of protein like red meat and eggs, hence collagen)
- Reduce stress and stop worrying... take life less seriously and smile on every situation/interaction... (main reason why you see individuals who appear much older than they appear (ie. a 50 year old who looks 30 years old)) (or why a homeless or fat persons have more hair than you? they aren't stressed nor worried...)
-- if you suffer from anxiety, Magnesium Glycinate can help reduce anxiety
From my research, I found that environment, dieting and lifestyle make up a huge factor.
I'd rather invest that money.
thinking of a PRP here. Can you tell me more pls? Does PRP make your hair grow back?
