    The increased focus on creeps has been super fun imo! Given the slower macro cycles in SG, it’s nice to have reasons to get out on the map.
    I think the excessive cheesiness is a result of other issues (macro imbalance, argent design, magmadons being OP 😂, etc.)

    the buff to creep reward was probably because nobody was creeping at all. I'm guessing the balance change is there to guide the evolution of the meta kind of like how EMPs were hugely buffed in that one SC2 patch, after which terrans were massing ghosts every game vs protoss and often against zerg as well, and the trend of mass ghost has not changed much even after the buff was reverted. I think they buffed the creeps so players would creep more, with the plan to eventually revert it after a creep-focused meta is established.

    Something I like about Stormgate is that all the factions really play into their micro mechanics. In SC2, Terran does this the best. They have siege units and healing from medivacs as well as their faction wide range focus. Their transforming units though is pretty bad. Landed Vikings are rarely used, Thors only have one case for their default mode, and no one really transforms hellions into hellbats and vice versa mid battle. Zerg is OK. Morphing is interesting but it's really more of a macro thing. They have free units too but you rarely see Swarm Hosts so it's just from Brood Lords which are only seen in huge late games. Protoss is pretty weak here because their only unique unit mechanic is shields which don't really matter except in interactions with EMP and Shield Batteries.
    In Stormgate, the Celestials and Infernos both have unique mechanics they play into. Infernos have infesting and splitting which is very important for many of their builds and really lets them win by snowballing a swarm. The Celestials also have their energy use which makes each unit significantly different depending on the fight condition. The Vanguard just seem really vanilla though.
    My biggest complaint with Stormgate gameplay wise is that the fights lack weight. Compare the Vanguard SIege tank and the Terran Siege Tank. The Terran one actually feels like it's blowing stuff up. The sound and explosion makes it really satisfying. It feels like an actual artillery piece. The Vanguard one though feels like nothing more than a unit. It drains health from other units in an area. It's functionally the same thing but it just feels different.

      Yeah, I don't know why game devs have so much trouble with making attacks feel punchy, especially when classic RTS games like SC and C&C and Dawn of War emphasized it along with brutal death animations. Maybe they're erring too much on the side of legibility? They have to do that in mobile games but it's not needed here. It seems like you hear this criticism in every game like this, as well as a lot of FPS games, and they keep giving us slow weak spitball weapons that have no clear effect on the target. If your hyper-advanced sci-fi plasma weapon's projectile visibly moves slower than a thrown baseball, you messed up.

    just hit diamond on infernal, about 300 games, if people didnt focus on only abusing, the game would be great

    arch angels, black holes, for aoe, argents for some range, with the power boost top bar i guess they're OK but don't overcommit on them. that's my guess. vectors prob fall off, and kree might still be ok meat shield?

    Celestials are a really cool design but it seems like it's going to be such a nightmare to balance with how cheesy they can be lol

      I don’t know if all their production structures work like warp gates (where all units produced can come out of any production building) in this patch but that was totally unnecessary. One of the big reasons why Protoss in Sc2 are so impotent in the late game is because gateway units had to be bad by necessity to counter balance the cheese potential of warpgates.

      @@laureloneiros1500that’s not how warpgates work. That’s how primary structures in C&C work. And it’s always been a feature yes, not a new thing. Been there since Frigate.

    Creep camps for you should only work as a niche income source next to expanding? That is so boring. The boring Sc2 design way of boring.
    Sure games might become snowbally but also unpredictable, volatile and fun.
    Also the early game is much more intense and interesting for both watchers and players alike.

    These devs were definitely Protoss mains lol. Celestials have sucked any possible fun I thought I was going to have out of the game honestly. Infernal units are slow as snails and get kited easily by both factions but it's even worse when Cel's can produce a highly mobile ranged unit that has Blink with no upgrades. It's insane to me that they think it's ok for that faction to be able to have this level of map presence and threat that early in the game.
