best thing you can do with youtube is treat it as a hobby , i will never commit to schedules for my 2 channels , if i don't post for a few months so be it , it is a hobby for me that i don't want to become a chore , went fishing the other day , hit into a carp that big that it stripped the gears in my reel within 2 minutes

So nice to see you back. I can completely understand what you are talking about. No point in having your hobby turning into a burden with all sorts of pressures. You would not be having fun, and I think that's what it's all about. I plan to re-visit some of your videos where you paint stone walls and tunnels etc. Looking forward to whatever you post, with no pressure at all. 😊👍

I am glad you are enjoying your time doing what you enjoy.
I recently got some oil to maintain my locos - some of which I have had for nearly four years without any proper care. I am enjoying getting them all out of there boxes again and getting them ready to go for whatever may happen next.
I also picked up some Vallejo paints just to experiment with. I have an old American 0-8-0 tender engine that has never worked (I bought it for a fiver at a local show) that is being repurposed as a test subject for painting. I've got a really nice coat of grey primer on there with some of the details picked out not-so-nicely in the metallic brass. You live and learn. I got some Tamiya painters tape so that won't happen again.

glad you are OK Tris , sometimes you need a couple of months off , I know I do , and some projects just take longer ( I have been building a 1:35 tank , my first for over 5 years and it has taken me 6 weeks sofar !)

I have really appreciated you sharing the shunting layout, so much so that I am now halfway through constructing my own. This has been possible by watching your progress and techniques that have been a great encouragement to me. I can imagine how much time and effort you have put in to make it possible so thank you for that.

Hi Tris. Glad you’re ok and enjoying your break from the hobby. I’m starting again in the hobby and it’s all down to you. And in a few weeks time I’ll be building a layout using you shunting layout as inspiration. Thank you again Paul.

Do it only when you enjoy it because it was your enjoyment and passion that brought me to your channel in the first place. Less often but joyful is the best.

The thing i enjoy about your channel Tris is the warmth and friendliness you project. If you push yourself too hard to fill a schedule for TH-cam you will grow tired of what you enjoy Tris. Dont burn yourself out, just come back into the modelling when you feel inspired. It is good to know you are ok.

Tris - greetings from Sydney Australia! You have inspired me to get back into Model Railways again as part of my recent Retirement. I used to be heavily involved in R/C car racing and 1/32 slot cars, but am getting over the enormous drain of resources needed to remain competitive - so went back to something much more relaxing... Like others have posted, your videos have inspired me to build a 12' x 18" shelf 00 scale British based 'shunting layout' - which represents a terminus from a branch and main staging tracks coming from the other side of a scenic divider... People keep saying "But Train Sets go around in circles?" - to which I reply, "Have you looked at the real world lately?" So each piece of rolling stock is representing a purpose - serving the industries in the town or! moving between Branch and Main using the Interchange tracks. I've copied your ideas for the Peco Oil Depot! Sadly, the Australian versions of hanging basket liner mat didn't really work out as a grass basis... As much as we have enjoyed and looked forward to upcoming videos, you do you and post as you feel! You have my admiration either way! Cheers from DownUnder!

Glad to see you are alive and well. What you are saying about pressure is very understandable, and speaking as an ex teacher and musician, I appreciate how the pressure to prepare the next lesson / performance can take over one's life. I think it is why I have so far resisted the temptation to post my own layout on TH-cam. I take my hat off to those who do. Having said that, I like others, have missed the regular "fix" of watching your progress, and look forward to seeing the shunting layout in its latest state when you are ready. I think that your shift away from the large loft layout towards micro exhibition layouts works better for you as you can have a visible and manageable end goal and then take a break to recharge. Enjoy the rest of your break.

Hi Tris , Lovely to see you again having a brake in Poland having walk giving another interesting chat, Great - Thank You. My son Luca and is Lithuanian wife Iveta and Ambika their 5 year old daughter live over the boarder in Vilnius the capital of Lithuania, when we go to visit them we sometimes go to the railway station were there are trains that go to Moscow - it's all very secure to get close up to see the trains. You may fancy taking a trip there yourself one day. Take care, Ron -West Dorset.

Hey buddy, thanks for the update. That’s the best part off the hobby you can drop it when you need to and then come back.
As for future micro layout pls oh pls do a ng7 narrow gauge layout I think it would be amazing and very interesting, also being o scale builds and scenery it’s easier and fun to work with.

Nice to see you back Tris.
Sometimes it's nice to take a brake from the hobby as well as making TH-cam videos as it can be as you said stressful at times. The best thing I was told treat it as a hobby film what you want to film. I have recently been doing some weathering on my locos as well as working on different areas of my layout.

Thanks for the update Tris - always good to have a timeout and some reflection - we all need time away from our layouts to refresh and recharge - as another self 'pressurer', I know exactly where you are at!

Great update Tris, remember it's your hobby, we are all in it for the same reasons. Really liked the shutting layout, when you started the series I had just started my own, they have helped me no end. Just wish I was as far on as you! The track is down and I can now run engines it is great stress relief. Keep safe.

    Hi Tris,
Nice to see you back! I think at times we all go through this stage, I have a 00 layout up stairs and a 0 gauge in the garage, this give me a vast area to swap between when the “Mojo” sags from one to the other, it is good also to do the odd scratch building away from the railway but for the railway.
I was talking to Tony just the other day asking where you were, now then if you wish to do talking then get back together and do some more bloggs, again on subjects people want to hear.
Cuts down on the editing so just let the camera role!
All the best, recharge the batteries and I hope to hear from you soon.
    Kind Regards,
    Eric

Hi Tris, home based hobbies are often a personal distraction from the daily challenges in our lives. A busy and demanding employment which in your case is at the very sharp end of a competitive sporting commercial business creates demands and pressure that often need such distractions to add some needed balance and reflection.
Adding the peripheral pressures of sharing your hobby beyond the home and your close companions can be counter constructive but most of those that follow will certainly appreciate your need to take time out. We need to work to live but should never force ourselves to live only to work!

Seems the effort to produce regular content outweighs the rewards so fully understand why you wanted a break and just put something out as and when you feel inspired. You are not the only TH-camr who has reached this point recently so you are not alone!

Hi Tris. Nice to see you back.. Must admit did wonder what's happening with you and the modeling. You said in your last vid you lived in Tilehurst, me too , in the 70s . I do like your live chats because we can learn a lot from each other, plus it's a good community. Keep it all as fun only do it when you want to , don't force yourself to do anything otherwise it becomes a job, or you end up with it costing you more than just money Enjoy the hear and now, enjoy your hols. See you whenever you feel like it. Take care. 😊

You have given me the confidence to get started in the hobby, so for that I can only thank you.

Hi Tris, so good to have an update. Like many, I guess I've missed you, but so important you've paced yourself. I joined you when you were in the loft as I was coming back to the hobby after many years. Thanks for introducing me to Tony, when I'm near Rugby I try to pop in and support the shop. I hope you are well and maybe we'll catch up in the loft or the workshop soon. Be gentle with yourself. Dave.

    Hi mate,
Glad to hear all is well. Never feel pressured to put anything on TH-cam we’ve all been there trying to stick out content, sticking to schedules and all it does is burns you out and makes you hate creating content. You do you, do TH-cam as a hobby to as well as the models. People turn up because they like watching you 😊
    All the best mate,
    Harry

Thanks for the update, Tris. You jist do what you want to do, its your channel and you owe nobody. One thing I noticed from this video was the complete lack of prison security fencing along the railway line. Its almost as though they have a different approach to trespass in Poland and dont overreact every time someone goes near the tracks like they do in the UK.

A lot of people seem to need a brake from TH-cam every now and again. Railway modelling can be demanding at times and I can only imagine that taking and editing videos adds to the pressure. Interesting to see the railway in the background without a fence to protect the general public, seen the same in Germany. I used to,spend time trackside with my job and wondered how you felt walking along with no boundary fence to protect you.
