As someone who has been obsessed with Concorde and Lego from a very young age I can’t express how excited I am that Lego have made such a faithful representation of the plane. I remember when I was about 5 or 6 me and my dad building our own Concorde together and this feels like the set we always wanted! I think we’ll be getting one each😆
I flew from London to NY once on the Concorde. It was comfortable but narrow to the point that the middle aisle was narrow so the service card wasn’t the one you see on most airplanes. It had a screen that kept track of speed Mach 2 was the max speed. I got home in half the time on that trip.
@@sebe7570I’ve always wondered that too. Is it different, worse or better at the higher altitude?
ปีที่แล้ว +9
There is little turbulence at those altitudes, so in that regard it was better. But of course it was still subject to regular turbulence when climbing and descending.
My great Grandad also helped build the engines for Concorde! I have a pair of Concorde cuff links that were gifted to him once the plane had been completed :)
I flew on the Concorde back in December of 2001, it was a heck of a ride! It did feel small inside and the windows to look outside are much smaller then a normal passenger jet. I had Roasted Lamb and some Dom Perignon. Taking off was crazy because of the Afterburners and the Concorde uses no flaps. When we landed at Heathrow Airport the landing was very rough like a fighter jet.
I really love this style of review where you show off interesting parts of the build process while they are happening, rather than just talking about it after the fact. And the commentary is something you just don't really get with speed builds that show just the build process
The concord is a legendary plane, only brought down by the fuel economy and a loose part from a different plane on the runway, it was actually a really safe plane other that. I whis I was able to experience it when it was still flying.
Lego really did a fantastic job at designing this thing. It's just gorgeous to look at and the size of it makes it all worthwhile. I like the landing gear operation and the stand as well. So very cool overall.
I flew on Concorde as a teen and sat in the cockpit for landing at JFK; an experience I’ll never forget. Love this model but my only gripe is they should have included printed livery pieces so you could build the British Airways or Air France versions.
Flew on an Air France Concorde in 1992. From JFK to France and then back on the return trip....so technically I flew on the Concorde twice. I was 12 years old with my parents. The one thing i remember is the flight back to the US was EXTREMELY hot inside the cabin. 60k feet up, sun beating down at mach 2. Not surprising, right?
The one set I've been waiting for in '23 - absolutely can't wait till I can get my hands on it and build it. Going to look into custom wall mounts so I can hang it!
My Dad took me to the airport in Auckland in 1986 to watch Concord land here - I was 11, but I'll never forget it! I actually really like the smaller number of parts per bag - I just finished the UCS X-Wing, which had a similar piece count to this, but half the number of bags - I'm a busy guy - professional with family - and I struggled to complete a bag in a sitting, and since my home office is for work, generally assemble at my dining room table - which meant I had to think carefully about timing when starting a new bag, which means if I only had 30 minutes free time, I'd just have to do something else - smaller number of pieces per bag would have been great for me. Having stated that - I do wish Lego would hurry up and eliminate the plastic bags like they have been promising for several years now - at least this one has a paper bag for the cockpit. Amazing set - really wish Lego would put as much effort into the UCS Star Wars sets - they are good, but always contain a lot of stickers, and was very disappointed the UCS X-Wing didn't even have landing gear - literally the only thing it had was the S-Foil deployment. Then again, a lot of other UCS Star Wars sets have nothing at all in the way of technic function... I often kinda get the feeling the team that work on UCS Star Wars aren't really that into it...
Nice review. However the Concorde didn't have flaps. Those moving surfaces on the wings were a mix of elevators and elevons like most Delta wings. The higher angle of attack at landing, assisted by the droop snoot to give better visibility assisted in clawing back 'some' of the lower landing speed lost by not having flaps. It still came in pretty hot though like most deltas!
Can't fly on it anymore anyway because they were all retired in 2003. However, they were pretty darn safe all things considered. There was only 1 fatal crash in its 27-year history. I only wouldn't fly on it because the ticket prices were super expensive. Costing close to $6000 to fly one way in the 90s. I could only imagine if it were still in operation today ticket prices would be 10s of thousands.
A crash that was caused by Air France not sticking to the manufacturer's guidelines around fuel levels. The aircraft was safe if operated correctly. I only found out recently that BA used to charter flights out around the Scilly Isles that were far more affordable - would probably be a few hundred these days - not cheap, but as a once in a lifetime experience, achievable.
There wer so called "Concord experiences", a one hour flight where you could experience the plane going a mach 2, typically being done in the spare plane for around 1500$. The one crash only happened because of a piece of a different airplane which fell on the runway, the soon improved the plane to not explode if this happens again.
So glad Lego went for another plane and iconic one at that. One plane I’d love to fly on if it was still around. I have be fortunate to break the sound barrier in a fighter on incentive flight while I was in the military.
Construtive criticism: i would appreciate it if you would take a little more time to talk about downside of builds, quality control, etc. I think that would elevate the usefulness of your reviews for prospective buyers.
I still don't entirely love the look around the cockpit, or that one little gap at the cheese slope in the wings. But I still love the overall set; and can't believe how large it is!

I've been a plane geek since I was a teenager many moons ago. Was pumped when I heard Lego were doing Concorde but the pictures of it left me feeling deflated. I'm now trying to plan how to afford it and how I'm going to build it because it looked completely different in your video. I haven't flown in it but I have been in it. The model doesn't show it but the seats were tiny. If you were anything over a medium build, you weren't comfortable sat in them and if you were tall, you had to walk up the aisle with your head tilted to the side. Don't know whether the manual says it but the friction on the plane at full speed heated the fuselage so it was actually longer in flight than when it was sat on the ground by about 6 inches - like I said, I was a plane geek
My dad worked at Rolls Royce in Derby and Filton making the Olympus engines that powered this aircraft. He moved onto the Pegasus engines found in the Harrier.
This set looks amazing, but as a long time Lego builder, it looks like the achillies heel of the whole set would be those clips that hold on the engines and the top of the cockpit. Unfortunately those pieces are prone to wearing out and cracking. So hopefully they include some replacements, and aren’t too difficult to replace. Other than that, I’m surprised that there are no stickers in this whole set. I bought the millennium Falcon from the force awakens, and was disappointed by it having a big sheet of stickers.

I mean, when was the last time you've seen an evenly coloured actual airplane? 😂 Liked the video, will follow for more.
Ive never been lucky enough to ride on Concord (it was ridiculously expensive!!!) but I have stood next to one, many many years ago! Its a shame they no longer fly commercially after the crash of one a few years back, grounded them all!
It wasn't the just crash that caused them to be pulled from service. It was the loss of the large number of customers in the September 2001 attacks, rising fuel costs and Airbus stopped supporting the aircraft after Air France stopped flying them. BA had intended them to continue in service for a number of years longer after spending a large amount of money fitting kevlar linings to the fuel tanks to help avoid a similar incident the Paris accident in 2000. A true icon, which I was lucky enough to see take off and land at very close quarters many times!
The concorde is one of my favorite planes because of how unique and record breaking it is. Im so glad they made such a detailed set on it. Unfortunately its 200 bucks
I never got to fly on the Concorde but I got to visit and board one in Barbados. It’s incredible, the cabin was small and I remember they said luggage was very restricted because there wasn’t a lot of extra space in the plane. The seats were made of premium leather. Also I believe the Concorde spelling with the ‘e’ is the French/Air France version. British Airways spelled is sans ‘e’ - Concord.

Have you ever tried Mega Construx? This build reminds me a lot of some of the mega series; so much SNOT and modified plate building, with crazy angles. You may love it (I'm thinking the magicarp Pokémon specifically, only because I'm building it right now)
Why would you feel unsafe going on the Concorde? This thing had near perfect track record. I mean sure it had one famous crash but it was just a single one and it wasn't really the fault of the design, it wa a freak accident due to runway debris.
Looks amazing, ngl! But Im worried about the stress on the wings. Cuz it looks like they're just a normal brick thick and i dont see any technic connections in between. And besides the size itself, the engines add weight as well. Even at the end of your video, I thought I noticed some sagging. Will be interesting to see some long-term reviews, I guess.
I don't have that many Lego sets, but this will eventually join my Titanic in a display of the iconic ways to cross the Atlantic in two different time periods.
Unfortunately, I never got a chance to fly on one before they were retired from service in 2003… 😞 lol I guess a lot of people felt like you, and also I think it wasn’t as cost effective with other advances in aviation (ie the 787)… I would also like to add, awesome review of the set! Can’t wait to add this to my collection! (I have the 787 Dreamliner as well 😎👍🏼)
My grandpa got to board a Concorde for a business meeting and take a look while it was on the tarmac, he said it was really cramped and that he had to duck when he moved around, kinda counter what you expect.
at 1m its basically the size of the Titanic. Hopefully one day Lego does the 747. Now that they have done Concorde they almost have to, So they can have to two most iconic passenger aircraft. I doubt there is any other commercial jets than those two where people know what they look like just by name.
Solid build and video. I just have one question for you and the community. I just noticed yellowing on 2 of my builds that consisted mostly of white bricks (Saturn V and Space Shuttle). Is there a way to restore the original color and most importantly a way to prevent that from happening. Suggestions will be helpful for as of now I'm putting a hold on kits that mainly consist of a white exterior surface (especially the Concorde). BTW my builds are in a room that receives minimum sunlight (blinds are down and the only sunlight that gets through is from the corners).
Unless you flew Aeroflot - they briefly (about 7 months starting in late 1977) operated the Tu-144 "Concordski" as a commercial passenger aircraft. Well, as much as anything could be considered commercial in the USSR.
Its day one for me, but agree on the size. Cobi do one thats maybe half the length? I think that would be a better scale - especially if Lego do more planes (please lego do more planes)
Hi Bricksie, On a different matter, where did you buy the drawers to store all your LEGO, and the little storing devices inside the drawers? Thanks in advance for your answer!

Thanks for the review , looks like a great model and a fun build !! Yeah -- the white does look off ?
Landing gear == very cool !! Later , D.
I am so glad that the cotpit window is a real window piece and not a sticker print on a lego piece .😊
Literally driving to the Lego store to get this right now. What a build
Hopefully you’re driving very slowly.
(I have the 787 Dreamliner as well 😎👍🏼)
Yup it retired coz it crashed into a hotel
My grandpa got to board a Concorde for a business meeting and take a look while it was on the tarmac, he said it was really cramped and that he had to duck when he moved around, kinda counter what you expect.
Holy moly that concord is huge
THE SNOOP WOULD DROOP
You know what I think would be really cool a icons lego bigboy train
Looks like an amazing set hope they'll give us all a sr71 blackbird.
Apparently Lego doesn’t do military sets to stay neutral
at 1m its basically the size of the Titanic.
Hopefully one day Lego does the 747. Now that they have done Concorde they almost have to, So they can have to two most iconic passenger aircraft. I doubt there is any other commercial jets than those two where people know what they look like just by name.
Good review! Thanks for sharing!
Wow what an amazing set, can’t wait to get this one
I’d love to see a side by side of this with the Saturn 5.. just for length comparison!!!
can't wait to see this flying over your city.
Looks really cool! ...but I'm still waiting for a Boeing 747...
And the only supersonic commercial passenger aircraft
Unless you flew Aeroflot - they briefly (about 7 months starting in late 1977) operated the Tu-144 "Concordski" as a commercial passenger aircraft. Well, as much as anything could be considered commercial in the USSR.
Its day one for me, but agree on the size. Cobi do one thats maybe half the length? I think that would be a better scale - especially if Lego do more planes (please lego do more planes)
This is so coool! Thanks for this video! It’s awesome!
I just got one. I’m debating on building it or keeping it NIB. Might end up being worth a good penny in the future.
Hi Bricksie,
On a different matter, where did you buy the drawers to store all your LEGO, and the little storing devices inside the drawers?
Thanks in advance for your answer!
Omg, finally! Can't wait to pick one up at wem!
I'd really like to see Lego ditch stickers entirely; all printed is the way to go, and this is an area where Cobi have been doing far better.
Watching this @12:33am California time n cool set n has ever been a day u have not posted a video , even with twins?
Awesome video! Great work G
I can’t wait to get it for a great father’s day present
