I’m convinced that Star Wars MOC builders are actually just insane. The amount of planning, time, and money that went into this must have been immense. Absolutely incredible results.
Especially considering the fact that you could simply use a lego Palpatine mini figure.

well, depends on situation, connections etc. I am in Serbia, where average paycheck is 350 eur per month, and I have built 5m long Millennium Falcon from LEGO bricks - within one month
It’s also interesting to see that the Venn diagram of prequel fans and Lego Star Wars fans is basically a circle. But of course it would be, Lego Star Wars first came out when the Prequels did.

What’s crazy is I never really realized the sheer scale of the senate. This really put it into perspective, that structure is absolutely massive, and probably one of the great architectural structures in the Star Wars universe.
I mean the sheer scale of the senate is about the size of a single minifigure 😏

The entire planet is literally a city miles deep.
As a kid, you have a bucket of LEGO's and your imagination to build anything you want...Then as an adult you can actually do it. Simply amazing!
As kid you couldn't afford LEGO. As an adult you don't want to pay for LEGO because it's double the price for half the bricks and little to no thought being put in the designs

Dont forget you also need deep pockets to do something like this. Its awesome tho, totally worth it.
thats why i order in bulk and off stuff like bricklink. i have most of the sets i want except for stickers. all of it from getting the peices individually on sites@@theanonymspysandwich

Amazing project! This MOC will definitely be remembered for years to come. Such a large undertaking, and I love how you were able to include the public in the building of the pods. Great way to get people involved and avoid some repetitive building tasks, too!

Really gives you a sense of scale, if this is the senate chamber then imagine how big and how many pieces it would take to build the entire senate building scaled to minifigure size.
A lot considering a mini fog scale ISD is a warehouse, a super Star destroyer is a football field (US), the death star is a small asteroid. So the Jedi temple will be the side of a Cosco and the Sentient building will be around that size as well.
If you actually scaled it to size I would assume it would probably be a bit larger than they made it!

So lovely that you got other people to make their own pods with their own figures!
Each row of pods had it's own halway on it's own floor of the building which also had apartments for all the senators. Think about how big this building was then. Think about it. Think about the hundreds of security points and the docks for shuttles to take the senators elsewhere in the city.

That's exactly why I like to read certain kinds of science fiction novels. That sense of scale, of enormous distances and objects. As in the ending of Alastair Reynolds' House of Suns or Pushing Ice. Makes me feel so insignificant yet hopeful of the possibility that one day the human race might actually go out into that void and build something momentous. Although it would look nothing like the Star Wars Universe ;-)

if that is true, that would be the most idiotic structure ever built.
having such assembly already present logistical and security challenges when ppl gather, imagine if ppl had to live there as well! (just think about the mess in midtown when the UN gathers).
and this is even without considering issues coming from natural disasters.
bottom line: a good design would MINIMIZE ppl gather in a single place (ie single point of failure), not increase it!
I'm glad to witness this amazing Galactic Senate build in video format, the photos don't give it enough justice.

This MOC really puts into perspective how massive the galactic senate is. Absolutely wild!

Basically all of Europe use a comma to indicate decimal places and periods to indicate for larger numbers if you were confused👍

You could have just bought the new Coruscant Guard gunship which came with The Senate minifigure.
In reality a senate build like this would be so impractical, the guys on the bottom would have to look up so much, you wouldn't be able to see anyone properly.
In the movies, the pods actually float around the room.

No… in TCW and the Prequels we can clearly see two things: every pod has a miniature Hologramm projecting the speaker and there is a giant Hologramm of the speaker projected in the middle(most of the time)
@@sergeantsharkseant If everyone is forced to look at holograms why even travel across the entire galaxy and not just do this senate from their home planet?
@@kabhes9040 Like in the first episode, communications can be cut-off in case of an invasion. With a senator physicaly present, you still have someone able to represent your planet among the republic. Also, a physical presence to a meeting or an assembly might seem a little more "respectful" than a simple call, like it is IRL with political leaders, even if they could just have a visio-conference...
If there were no E Ts, I would have been very disappointed. Very glad they were added!

Okay, this is pretty cool. Also just going to appreciate that it's not simple, each one of those layers for the pods needs a custom wall. While the pods are replicated, the main structure and floor panels are replicated, the walls all have to be custom fit into place, even if it really is just extending the edges one stud or so, but that's one of those things that a lot of people may not appreciate, and you didn't mention it in the video.
