*BIG CAT SIGHTING?* I have to go back some 40 years for this. *The scene.* I’ve just got myself an MG Midget. It’s a warm summer’s night at about 0130 hrs. I’m driving on the Worcester/Warwickshire border heading towards home in Warwickshire. The village I’m in is just East of Evesham. Badsey *Lat 52 5’35.93 N* *Long 1 53’41.01 W* I’m driving along a road that just fringes the village with open fields to the right (North) of me. I come to a right turn to head out of the village and in the beam of my MG, I notice something large and dark running down the middle of the road some 30 yds ahead. It runs for a few seconds before veering off to the left. The verges either side of the road are wide. Some 20 foot. Then there is the hedgerow to fields beyond. Whatever it was stops by the hedge, looks back for a split second or so, then vanishes through the hedge. I had actually turned the car slightly to keep what it was, still lit by the cars full beam headlights. Now. Most cynics will say, _“It’s just a Black Lab or Alsatian.”_ But my uncle always kept Black Labs and we’ve had Alsatians and Springers in the past. Whatever it was, was not a dog. It didn’t run like a dog runs. It had a long tail that dogs do not have. And it had those yellow/orange reflecting eyes that were built for great night vision. Something, that is not as good with dogs. As soon as the beast vanished, I suddenly became aware that the hairs on the back of my neck had stood up. Something, almost primordial, was waring me, that I was NOT the apex predator about. And then I realised that I still had the roof down on the MG. Something I always did if it was dry regardless of the temperature. *_I can’t guarantee it was a big cat, but what I will guarantee is this._* *It was NOT a dog.* And those coordinates are the location of where I saw this beast.
Seen a bobcat 9 yards in a open field broad daylight, I was behind a forest embankment and only saw it once I climbed it, probably the only reason i got so close. This was at my 8 square acre property a mile from the river dart. A year later when i got into hunting Where I would stalk my property with a pard 0 shot zero scope I realised the field I saw it in was a massive hotspot for deer when I lie down in groups of 2 or 3 at night. In fact the largest deer population for a mile or 2 seems to be right in and around my house. Yesterday my scope ran out of battery so I scanned one of fields with a head torch looking for eyeshines, I saw 1 thinking it was a rabbit but I obviously could not shoot since my scope is electronic and out of juice, so I walked towards the eyeshines without fear of scaring it away, I got within literlly 3 meters and it was a deer, lying down in tall grass like in the other field, we sat there having a staring contenest for about 7 seconds before it bounced off like they I'm going to try and set up bait around the area and with permission from the farmers, I'm pretty lucky I can just let the large predators come to me instead of prowling dartmoor at dusk and dawn. I'm thinking of creating a snipers nest on top of my roof (there is scafolding work rn so I can easily camp up high) and placing bait and keeping a close eye on where there wind is coming from. and scanning my fields and the main one with a pard ds35 nightvision scope, which is important because it has a built in range finder (this is important because it will help determine the size of the animal, people will always dismiss proof by just saying it's a house cat). Do you know what bait / smell attracts cats the most. I read online that canned sardines can be smelt from miles, and since their so oily they don't lose scent in rain. But I'm not sure if sardines work for large cats or just pets. I'm thinking of going to a zoo and asking the staff about puma ,jaguars and bobcats and what smells they pursue. Also I had an idea, you know those fox call whistles that simulate a rabbit in distress. You might be able to find programable audio emiters that play that sound every 30 - 40 mins and put it right next to your trail cameras. At lest thats what I plan for my cameras. I am 100% confident that if enough people worked together on maintaining sets of bait, audio emmiters and cameras, and even manual prowling with nightvison, doing so against the wind to catch a predator by suprise. Proof would be found in a matter of weeks. rabbits are a easy snack for both young and larger and older cats.
Wow! It's great to know that there's someone close by who had an interest in this.... We'd love to speak to your further and hopefully have some kind of collaboration?! It may be worth looking for Steve Swatton on Facebook and sending him a message! Cheers 👍
@@explorationsouthwest8851 I would love to but Ive tried to before but for some reason you blocked my account. Maybe it's because you saw I owned a company and wanted no part of it idk, or a miss click. Aperture Technologies LTD - CEO / PSC Alexander Kessler Ford
Stumbled upon this. Thought that the sightings were finished. Now in the NE but lived in Liskeard during the late 80s and 90s and was always up on the moors around Siblyback in the evenings with the dogs (shepherds). Saw cats 6 times, Puma twice and the rest were black leopard. Once was within 30 yards in the pitch black and it is fair to say that I frit myself sideways!!! Closest to home was within 300m of the house in broad daylight. Some very big paw marks, as you say - rounded and no claws. All my mates thought that I was daft. I imagine you have similar responses....
Sightings have definitely slowed down... I made several videos in a row due to the amount of sudden sightings! Turns out there was an escapee from the zoo they kept quite for a couple on months! However, alot of intel for these vids come from farmers and landowners - for obvious reasons - they don't go public 👍
I never normally comment on any videos. But I got to say I've enjoyed your videos. I have had big cat experiences while out. I got a channel and have uploaded some bizarre stuff, from my camping trips. I have subed and I'm glad to be number 1k . Keep up the good work I thoroughly enjoyed these episodes 🪵 🌳
Thankyou!! Should have a follow up ready this weekend - i've filmed about 2 thirds of it - just going to check out that trail cams again - we actually have a cat! Well a decent sized feral, but still a cat!
The Beast of Bodmin Moor! We definately have a breeding population of big cats, pobably Pumas or Lynx as they can easily cope with the winters in the UK. As you pointed out, live stock being killed, we have no big predators which can do this in the UK, i honestly think its a big cat.
I would have liked to see a picture of the cat you were chasing. I saw a massive cat once on a green lane. I just thought it was a big cat. Then I saw one in a zoo. I was chasing it down the lane. It stopped when it got higher than me and felt safer. Must have been six foot away from me.
Another cracking video, thanks! We have a similar situation up here in Exmoor, starting in the early 80s on a farm in South Molton where dozens of sheep were killed. It got so bad the MOD got involved! Been getting sightings sporadically ever since! Weird stuff. 🤘
To me it looks like it's a fox being chased... In a fair few frames, you can see the chaser has a white tail that goes up above it's back... I did also think a squirrel, however it's the same size-ish as the fox?
@martynwilliams7098 that was a Lynx. That's Lynx cubs chasing each other . . I know the area and I know steve . We don't live that far apart . We drink in the same pub . Years ago there was Lynx release program that was stopped because of the opposition from the farming community. But I think some was still released. To bring the deer population down because of the destruction of the forest
Good prints you should of got a mold of the print, but never mind interesting video, I go out myself investigating big cats and I’ve got a few videos, it’s called big cat sighting northwest UK if your interested,
I have molding them in another video ! I've invested in a couple more cameras due to a sighting which i'll be checking over the weekend - i'll deffo check out your channel :)
Have you seen any Cuckoos that's what you should be looking for so stop acting the goat , ps your bob cat was a Manx cat who lost his way.happy hunting .😹😹😹😹
Strangely, yes... I saw (well, heard) a cuckoo the other day! And yes, it could well be a manx - we've captured a couple before.... There's a lot more feral cats about than people realise!
Totally agree... When I reviewed the footage on the cam, I thought we'd struck gold... However, it was a tiny screen and it turned out the shutter speed is low - may need to get a better cam!
@argyledart85 I am on it I will do . I am still waiting on some ex milliary equipment that I can see the animals . When the autumn arrives I will find them . I have now found there hunting area . I am no longer disclosing the areas I work . Because I get others following me . I do the ground work but others then come in .
If you're on the game trail, then the cats won't be far, maybe leave trail cams a month and see what happens. The cover will be dying back soon, so you'll have more visibility. Thanks.
And I’ve subscribed! good seeing you out there looking.

Well... I've had a great lead from a super fresh sighting... I've moved my trail cam so hopefully that 4k photo will be coming!

Thanks! Exmoor is interesting because I think alot of it is private so there's places we're the public aren't about to see or disturb it 👍
@@explorationsouthwest8851 I never thought of it like that! Good point!
We got are own bigfoot and 150 big black cats in Wales and Scotland and England
I think the video was two squirrels chasing one another ?

I saw a animal screaming the over day
That's a point - I haven't actually listened to any audio on the trail cam - I'll do that now!
This was last week I think where you found that sheep
It's obviously Big Foot, who somehow managed to get from Oregon to Dartmoor without even half trying.

Bullshi this man talks about puma . Show us it filmed and we might believe.
Got high hopes at the mo - super fresh sighting and prints - I've moved my camera so hopefully in a couple of weeks your wish will be granted

We try and leave them up for a while to make sure there's no human scent about, but yeah, fingers crossed for the vegetation drying back 👍
