    Looked a cracking night out mate and nice to see the views I missed as we did Ben Bhula on a bit of a winter epic, snowed all day and struggled to get the car up to the Rest & Be Thankful, had to detour via Dunoon. Would love to move to the Highlands, maybe one day. Wishing your partner a speedy recovery.

      Hey 👋🏼, cheers for watching mate! It’s a lovely Corbett with great spots to pitch on the summit, also tends to be very quiet. It’s great in the snow, unlike driving on the rest which can be a right pain. That detour is a nightmare. When the landslip happened last year we were basically cut off for a few months. Hopefully you get to make a move when the times right for you. ☺️ Fingers crossed Megs is out on the hills come the new year!🤞🏼 Let me know if you fancy company on the hills sometime.

    Hey Ben good to see you out on an overnighter again. Nice lightweight pack and the tent looks interesting, although the detachable sleeve thing seemed a bit odd. Big wet cloud & big wet bogs, business as usual then for our neck of the woods, although we both know how stunning and magical it can be around this area. It does have its challenges but I completely agree with your closing comments, I moved here over forty eight years ago and still love it. Watching you run down the hill makes me chuckle, oh to be young and full of bounce, it takes me back in time but I need to be more careful these days.. Best regards to you and of course to Meg's, I hope she is doing well and may soon be up on the hills with you soon. ATB

      Hey Stuart, thanks for watching! Great to be out overnight again. I’ve returned the tent now as it wasn’t holding up to mountain weather well enough after only 2 outings.. will share more thoughts on it at some point, as I did really like aspects of it. Too right on the bogs and wet clouds! Ohh Argyll 😂 Love how often you can have these hills all to yourself though, and they are beautiful. You’ve been up here awhile then! We feel such an attachment to were we live now, never really had that in the past. On the being young, I wish my body was a few years younger this year 🤣 All the hill running has battered it, so I’m giving it a break and slowing down some this winter. The fastpacking is good fun, but going slower has its benefits for sure, like taking it all in, and just appreciating the places. Megs says thanks for the kind wishes ☺️🙌🏼

    Baffled by how you managed to get all that kit for an overnighter into a 25L pack! I have the same sleeping pad, maybe a slightly bulkier quilt (As Tucas Sestrals) but a more compact tent (Nordisk Lofoten 1). So my sleeping / shelter kit ought to be in the same ballpark as the kit you used in this video, and yet once I add food / drink / cooking equipment for an overnigher I'm usually struggling to squeeze it all into a 45L pack.

    • @OutdoorIntrigue
      @OutdoorIntrigue  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi mate, it’s magic 🪄 and a strange love for packing 😂 I guess it’s a combination of the true size of a pack as generally 2 packs from different brands stating the same litre volume can be worlds apart. Also just the way you pack the pack makes a huge difference. The synthetic quilt you have probably adds a lot of comparative bulk. In all honesty it’s often nicer and easier to not have to cram everything into a tiny pack though.
      Appreciate you watching and happy trails!
      Ben.

      What you forget is the as yet unexplained phenomenon that gear will always expand to fill whatever bag you put it in. I can squeeze my whole climbing rack into a 30 litre pack but if I put that same gear into a 90l pack it fills that too. I think it's something to do with quantum mechanics

    The 2022 Lazer has at last come seam sealed and has a sewn on side guy point so no stupid cover needed only taken terra Nova 20 odd years to do it!
    I seam sealed my two man version and ditched the cover no real problems. I sewn extra guy points to the seam that runs along the pole sleeve the same as Terra Nova has just done

    • @OutdoorIntrigue
      @OutdoorIntrigue  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Finally! It’s honestly unbelievable how long they’ve taken to make those relatively simple upgrades.
      I returned my one last year as the door zip seams were failing after minimal use. It was in high winds a few times and just wasn’t coping well.
      Shame really as it’s a great weight and decent design.
      Appreciate you watching 👍

    Good to see you getting back out there. Looks a cracking location,. I’ve used the compact 2, great wee tent with the dog, found the sleeve thing a bit finnicky, especially if you cold or wet hands. Keep up the good work, hope Meg has a speedy recovery… ATB 👍

    • @OutdoorIntrigue
      @OutdoorIntrigue  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good to be back out for an overnighter, too much running this year and not enough wild camps. Although absence makes the heart grow fonder right. I liked a lot about the Compact 1, hated the sleeve, but you can permanently attach it and leave it on, still a pain though tbh. I’ve actually returned it now as the second outing (vid coming soon) the stitching above the door was separating… Appreciate you watching mate. Meg’s will hopefully be out for a wild camp in Jan 🥳 if the physio allows it…

    • @scotsnomad7395
      @scotsnomad7395 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OutdoorIntrigue sorry to hear that. I also had a mishap, the material that has the little hoops or toggles, attaches inner to outer, when I was breaking camp in the morning it seriously ripped and all the stitching separated. No issue from Terra Nova , straight refund or offered a replacement. I think the winterised version does at have the sleeve as Is all seam sealed… still a cracking piece of kit 👍👍👍

    • @OutdoorIntrigue
      @OutdoorIntrigue  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Scots Nomad That’s good that they sorted it out no qualms. I’ve had some concerns with their customer service over the years, but it was a while ago. Still love their tents, our two main 2-person tents are both Terra Nova’s. Was out on Wednesday in 60mph gusts up over 1000 metres on a wild camp, and was very happy to be in a Hilleberg, horses for courses and all.

      Hey mate, 👋🏼 it was a gorgeous evening! Nothing like watching a bit of TH-cam wild camping on the big screen 📺. As you say the clag was alright because it wasn’t all we had, like it often is 😂. I wanted to like the laser compact, but I’ve returned it now, after the next trip (vid coming soon) it was showing some quality issues. Cheers for watching!

      Lovely spot it is indeed, nice and local too. Lovely snow up there today as it happens.
      I do love to go light ☺️, sensibly so though I’d say. But there is so much benefit to the lightweight mentality. Traditional hiking mindset still dominates a lot in the U.K. especially though. Horses for courses and different strokes for different folks and all though. Megs is on the mend, just takes bloody ages. Cheers for watching mate.

      Hey mate 👋🏼, good to be out wild camping again. Too much hill running this year and not enough hiking and camping. Laser was a choice based on my experience of Terra Nova tents and their general capability in British conditions. It’s weight and price too. I was hoping to adapt it to lightweight 4 season use, but as you will see from coming vids I changed my mind.. Thanks for watching Gordon!
