Love talking about 2019 and 2020. Back in 2020 I bought a Team Up sleeved pack art set for $50 USD delivered. Now they are around $300. Back then, many of the XY sleeved packs were only $5-8 each. Them were the good ole days if you wanted vintage modern. Good luck with your purchases!

Picked up a case of surging sparks BB, and 2 cases is PC ETB surging sparks. Pre-paid for 2 cases of Prismatic regular ETBs already. If I can pick up a few Black Friday ETBs for $20 at target, and any booster bundles I find out in retail stores of prismatic when it releases… plus you have the 151 collection box coming out in January… like you stated, that should carry me/us into March. 😂
What’s your take on booster bundles if you can get in at good prices? Also the twilight masquerade PC etb is still on the Pokémon center. I think it’s a massive steal at 60. Thoughts?

Where do you go in Australia to get new booster boxes and ETB’s? Because Pokémon centre doesn’t even let me look at the prismatic evolution ETB’s that have been sold out.
I also think Surging Sparks will follow the same pattern as EVS. Like you said not the same tier, but the demand is crazy. I live in the Netherlands and boxes cost now €180, thats 292,76 AUS dollar. The demand is worldwide. Also 2 of my boxes got delayed. I feel like there is a small print on purpose. Will invest way more when they are back in stock in the Netherlands!

I know you speak alot about investing in BBs. What are your thoughts in investing in single booster packs off the shelf (single blisters, 3 pack blisters etc)? I dont seem to have the funds to drop on a BB but is buying single booster packs and blisters a dead end? Cheers mate.
I’m trying to complete base set 2, evolutions, Japanese 151 and Stella crown. Then my collection is complete. Getting my base set unlimited, jungle and fossil sets graded. I’ll stick to buying 2 booster boxes for each collection and each Upc. Thanks for the advice.
It's interesting these older boxes are several thousand and the card value is less than a thousand. With Evolving skies closing in on 4k card value... I could see ES booster boxes at 10k in less than 5 years.

I almost bought two boxes for 180 off. Facebook was very fair pricing in my eyes and I was gonna cost down if I could find even better before I purchased I did some last minute searching went to a local TCG store and found they had stock one of their other stores went there and bought 10 boxes for 160 each, this is my second week being into Pokémon trading cards. Wish me luck lol I’m good now though until the next drop.
For me I'm buying the hits from Evolving Skies in a PSA 10. I already have the Moonbreon and the Rayquaza. I have the dragonite coming back in a return soon, so hopefully that goes well.

Good video, as always. I'd go with your guy on Team Up. Its a lot of money but you can see the potential with how few boxes there are and the strength of the set. Its got a lot of room to grow IMO. Ballsy move though 😅 There are so many new eyes on pokemon right now. Theres a whole lot of money about to be pumped into the hobby and a lot of new people have no clue what they are doing or talking about. Strap-in kids, it could get messy!
Thanks for your insights, Michael! Great stuff, as always! I think I got lucky with SS - I’m in for 9 cases - 3 BB at $600/case, 5 PC ETBs ($260/case) and one case of regular ETBs at $400. If I buy more then I am dollar cost averaging UP which I don’t think I want to do ATM. 😉 The other SV set that I’m heavily into is Paldea Evolved (6 BB cases). It’s been relatively flat since July probably because the attention has shifted to other sets. With its reprint done already, this may be time to scoop up more at, what I think is, reasonably affordable prices. I view it as the equivalent of Lost Origins from SW&SH and the cards are beautiful! Rock on buddy! 🤙🏻
Agree with the call. It's PC ETBs and booster boxes. My aim is 2 cases of booster boxes, esp for the upcoming sets. For those sets as many PC ETBs as PC will let me order. Waiting to see if they cancel any of my Prismatic orders! Lucky you got a PC in Oz now!
I just did it over $300 on 4 ETBs, one sett of 4 bosterpacks(one of each art), 1cheap storage box to throw in some vintage "DuelMasters" cards in it, 600x penny sleeves for TCG cards and Root boardgame cards and 50 premium toploaders. Quite a purchase. I will give away one ETB and I am 98% sure it will end up being opened. Then I will open one myself. The last 2 ETBs and the "4pack art sett" i will keep sealed.
I took a break after Obsidian Flames and am catching up now. Previously had been opening up a case and trying to master set each release. Now it’s just getting too hard, too costly. Although I miss the excitement of cracking packs. I’ve been focused on purely sealed collecting the past months with the intent to hold long term. Certainly taking at least 1 sealed booster box and PC ETB each set. Made decent size investments in 151 and Prismatic Evolutions. Want to get more Twilight Masquerade but looking for a reliable seller in the $150USD range. May wait/hope for the dip if it reprints/restocks. Agree with you on Paldea Evolved and trying to pick up a couple more booster boxes before we see the price rise further. Also it’s hard not to be interested in some of the “less attractive” sets in S&V that have sealed cases in the $575-650 range. I made some of those investments in S&S and it really has seemed to pay off. Not bullish on S&V base but maybe Stellar Crown at just below $600 case??? Wondering what price point some of those sets would have to be at to make you interested….
Very interesting strategy. Others are sayings the opportunities are in SV Paradox Rift and Temporal Forces bc of the current prices. I love the surging sparks strategy, definitely will be using that one. Prismatic is gonna be tough to get. Love the channel!
When the Q4 reprint of evolving skies booster boxes for Australia got cancelled it broke my soul lol. I went hard on the etb reprint soon after but booster boxes just kept climbing. I sold 3 etbs and bought a booster box a couple months ago for a 1000 lol

With 32 SIR's or whatever, they're making sure it's almost impossible to pull on purpose. They know about what happened with Paldean Fates, and are pretty smart going about this specialty set this time around.

I think it's very unlikely. The art is completely subjective and it has masterball holos. The last set to have masterballs was Japanese 151 and that's the only set since Evolving Skies to surpass $3000 in total set value.
There is a Team Up booster box on UK eBay at the moment and currently at £1850 with 7 days to go. The seller also has some valuable x&y and b&w booster boxes being auctioned. Looks like his gains are going to be seriously realised…
I feel lucky that I am able to sit on product, and hold for a longer period of time. I think the market will absorb alot of Surging, and the coming sets. So the timeline might shift and go in my favour. Time will tell if Pokemon Company reprints alot in the future.
It'll go up but you need it to go to 1700 to make 100%. Then you've got the pain of trying to sell a stupidly expensive modern box. Seems like a lot of hassle to me.

Just grabbed two PC Twilight Masquerade ETBs on PC site. $60’s definitely a good deal, people are selling them for $70+ on eBay.

When I started buying in 2013, WOTC boxes were all under $500. The only one in the thousands was the 1st edition base set around 7-10k.

I think it's very unlikely. The art is completely subjective and it has masterball holos. The last set to have masterballs was Japanese 151 and that's the only set since Evolving Skies to surpass $3000 in total set value.
There is a Team Up booster box on UK eBay at the moment and currently at £1850 with 7 days to go. The seller also has some valuable x&y and b&w booster boxes being auctioned. Looks like his gains are going to be seriously realised…

I feel lucky that I am able to sit on product, and hold for a longer period of time. I think the market will absorb alot of Surging, and the coming sets. So the timeline might shift and go in my favour. Time will tell if Pokemon Company reprints alot in the future.
If the set is good enough, reprints don’t matter. If you have the time to let it sit, it’ll go up. If you believe in the set, buy more at the reprint

It'll go up but you need it to go to 1700 to make 100%. Then you've got the pain of trying to sell a stupidly expensive modern box. Seems like a lot of hassle to me.
@@monkey39128 with the amount of collect a cons now days selling expensive boxes isnt hard now if you dont live where you can go to these major conventions then probably but you can always sell on tcg
