I like how it starts calm and peaceful, representing the Luminoth in times of peace when they first arrived on Aether, and then switches to a marching chant, representing them at war with the Ing.
This is easily my personal favorite Metroid story. So much backstory to aether, so much you learn about the luminoth, and in the end, you don't Destroy the planet. You manage to actually save the luminoth. Samus may have been unable to save the chozo back in her early zebes years, but she did not Fail the luminoth. Finally, she manages to *save* Someone. The First time she does this. And it's not Just a couple people. It's an entire civillization. An entire species. And that ending with Samus waving her arm is exactly What someone should expect for Samus. This game makes Samus shine the most with her personality without the need of ANY text(except for maybe Samus returns). This game shows that Samus cares. She really does Care about people around her. It really shows that she didn't spare the baby "out of pity". Samus could've Just left planet aether and Said to the federation "hey, everyone died". But she didn't. Saving the luminoth was not within her mission. And yet, she still did It. She spent an entire game doing something that was not even her mission. And with all the luminoth famílies dead, It really makes the *player* Care. There's so many bodies troughout the game, It makes the planet feel... Dead. Because that's What it's about to become. Metroid prime makes the player experience a world after the crisis. But echoes makes the player experience the world *during* the crisis. And since the player has likely seen What happened to tallon IV, the players knows exactly What Will happen to aether If they Fail their mission And the ending Just has so much satisfaction to It. Samus understands that stuff like the gravity boost, the light and dark beams/suits, the echo and dark visors, and the screw attack Are things she cannont keep, cause they belong to the luminoth(except maybe the screw attack, but considering the luminoth had a bit of contact with the chozo, i like to think the screw attack we see in echoes was a gift from the chozo to the luminoth. It would explain why it's locked up in a vault). She returns back all the luminoth tech, and as the camera moves, the player sees dozens of luminoths. All the survivors finally came out to thank the savior of their species. No other Metroid game has so much satisfaction in it's endings. Samus didn't Just "stop the big baddies" and that's It. She managed to actually return ALL the stolen energy, single handely take down the ing, and save an entire species. This is the real Samus. Not the "oh mah gawd it's adam" Samus or the "baby baby baby baby" Samus. The real Samus cares about her surroundings. This is the same Samus we Saw in the 2D games, and im really Sad this is the one and only time we get to see Samus with this personality in 3D. Prime 1 Samus didn't really have a personality, she was Just doing her mission, and in prime 3, It was basically the same thing. Hunters Samus basically had no personality, and other M has "you know". This is the only time we get to see Samus have an interesting personality in 3D. I really wish prime 4 brings back this Samus. The Samus that Will Go off her mission orders Just to save those she cares about. The Samus that cares about her surroundings. Hopefully she'll be like that
I'd argue that Prime 3 Samus wasn't just "doing her job" though. By the time Prime 3 rolls around, her fight with Phazon and Dark Samus becomes personal. She's already saved two planets from the terrors of Phazon, and even earned another sworn enemy in the form of Dark Samus. Prime 3 is when what happened in the last two games builds up to a conclusion that shows who Samus is, and what she's truly capable of. This is most apparent when we see her have to fight the other hunters who were corrupted. When she first meets Rundas again, she initially wants to greet him and find out what been happening to him, and when he attacks, she is confused, but then realizes what happened and has to take him down. Not just out of self-defense or because it's her mission, but because she doesn't want to see her comrade, one who saved her life, suffer anymore. After she beats him, we see the shadow of Dark Samus take what's left of his Phazon, which shows that not only are they corrupted, but every enemy and boss in the game is being controlled by Dark Samus. She even tried to stop Dark Samus from taking Ghor's remaining Phazon by shooting the shadow, but to no avail. Samus clenches her fist in anger, and she wouldn't do that if she didn't have any personal feelings about the situation or her comrades. When Gandrayda is defeated, Samus can't help but look away when Gandrayda takes her form, because she knows that with more Phazon, she's going to get more corrupted, and possibly meet the same fate. And after Dark Samus and Phaaze are destroyed, Samus mourns the deaths of all three of her fellow hunters. Yes, Samus may be on a mission in Prime 3, but it would be folly to suggest that we don't see her compassionate and caring side. Plus, while she might not have saved them, she did save four planets from Phazon corruption in Prime 3, and prevented all further Phazon corruption from ever happening again. It doesn't feel as personal, but that's the ramifications of her actions.
@@GacLosen6556 Personally, the backstory showed me that the Luminoth were actually villains. The Ing were their creation after all, and the Luminoth tried to destroy them. The Ing were just creatures minding their own business and whatnot.
@@NalonB that's not what the lore says. The Ing were born from Phazon. You can even see an Inglet-like creature on Phaaze called a Phaz-Ing. They came to Aether via a Leviathan seed, just like how the other planets were hit by them. The Luminoth only named them, and it wasn't a flattering name at all. They had nothing to do with the creation of the Ing. The Luminoth were as much victims as anything or anyone else affected by Phazon.
