Thank you for doing the video. I pretty much agree with your order. My ranking would be 1.ST - S tier 2. Iowa - S Tier 3. WAYNK - S Tier 4. The gray chapter - A ( I encourage everyone to Re listen to this album now that the End so Far is out) I used to hate it and something changed and it really is unbelievable. Songs I would listen to are Sarcastrophe,A0V,Devil and I,Kill Pop, Lech, Nomadic,Custer,The Negative One, The Burden (from expanded edition, omg!!) listen to these and ignore the rest and it may change your mind. That’s still 9 great tracks though. It is so dark and Corey’s anger is killer and it really sounds authentic unlike vol 3 5. Vol 3 the subliminal versus - C+Or B- 6. All hope is gone C- or D+ 7. The end so far C- or D+ (below their standards for sure) I’m a Slipknot fan since 1999, saw them on the Iowa and WANYK tour, greatest bad of all time next to Metallica. Thanks for listening to my tangent. 🤜🤛
I first heard the debut less than a year after it's release when I was 10 years old. I'm 32 now, LOL! While I absolutely LOVE that album nearly from start to finish til this day, Iowa just hit different. Maybe it's because after I heard the ST album, I was just dying to hear what they did next, and Iowa didn't only meet those expectations, it exceeded them. Everything that I loved about the ST album was cranked up to 11 on Iowa, and the ONE biggest difference that makes Iowa still hold as my all-time favorite is that I've been drawn towards dark things since I was very young. Halloween was always my favorite holiday even over getting gifts on Christmas, I'd rather spend the day dressing up as a zombie or something LOL! So, that overall really dark tone that Iowa had along with having one banger after another just edges it over the ST album for me. That darker atmosphere still speaks to me til this day. I would NEVER want to have to make this decision, but if I had to choose one of the two albums to keep forever and the other to disappear, I'd have to keep Iowa. I love every song except for the title track... and only because it's SO long and takes too long to do anything. I like the entire middle section, but the beginning and even ending I could take or leave, but every other song on that album is absolute perfection for me. Vol. 3 took a while for me to accept. ONLY because it was a follow-up to Iowa. Over the years, I can definitely say that I'd now put it in A tier. It's really not AS big of a departure as I'd originally thought. I think it's really just the mixing/mastering/production quality that sounded so different aside from the ONE element that also threw me off... Corey's heavy vocals. At that time, I was very forgiving of clean vocals in heavy music and actually quite liked his cleans. The heavy vocals were just SO different and entirely took away that dark tone that he had instilled into my brain on the first 2 albums. Basically, everything after these 3 albums has been very hit or miss. Each album has at least a few songs that are some of my favorites that they've ever made... but the rest falls WAY short. Except for this newest album. There are tracks on this album that I actually very much DISLIKE and would ask somebody with the AUX cable to change during a car ride, LOL! Aside from Yen, I really don't like this album. The clean vocals sound stylistically identical to Stone Sour. I've always defended Corey when people said that his vocals in SK sounded like Stone Sour... because they didn't. There was always a very clear distinction to me in his cadance and delivery of cleans in both bands. The End, So Far... the cleans are 100% Stone Sour. Except Yen. I LOVE that song so much. It gets the most hate, but it's by FAR my favorite of that entire album, even though most people seem underwhelmed by it.
I started listening to slipknot when there 10th anniversary edition to there 1st album came out in 2009. By then they started to made me realize what metal music is. All there albums are identical in every way but I love it. Been a fan for 13 years and hoping for the future for the band
S - ST, Iowa A - Vol3, Gray chapter B - WANYK C - TESF D - AHIG very similar ranking, agree with you on .5 I re-listened to it again and bumped it from B to A along side The gray chapter is very good! AHIG isn't a terrible album I just don't prefer the overall genre/sound they went for personally, I rarely come back too it. WANYK is better than TESF, but like you mentioned it could change in months since it's so different.
I really liked "All Hope is Gone". There are quite a few underplayed bangers on there, especially Gematria and Vendetta. Those would really fit on a live playlist well. My least favorite is The Gray Chapter. They lost one of their main songwriters and it shows. I especially feel that ever since that album they got progressively worse at writing choruses that get stuck in your brain, with "Devil in I" kinda being their last real catchy song so far. We are not your kind was a step up, especially with the more experimental sound. The End so Far is kinda okay, enjoyed it more than The Gray Chapter. My list would be: 1. 3.0 Subliminal Verses (for many, subjective personal reasons) 2. Slipknot 3. Iowa 4. All Hope is Gone 5. MFKR 6. We are not your kind 7. The End, so far 8. .5 The Gray Chapter

Personally id bump everything after iowa down one tier but your spot on with the order imo
