@Mylegoepic The 2021 version isn’t scaled right, the wings are to small and the cockpit area is way to big, especially with the oversized comply. The UCS TIE isn’t minifigure scaled. I think the 2012, 2015 and 2018 are almost perfectly minifigure scaled. I think the 2018 one is way better 2021 for proportions. But only being $40 I think 2021’s weird proportions are justified by being half prize. It was a good compromise

You’ve got a point tho, hindsight is 20/20 but a smart empire fleet collector would’ve bought a bunch of the solo tie fighters on clearance, kept minifigs from a few and sold all the figs from the others and he would’ve actually made a profit. The mud trooper alone goes for around the same price that the set retailed for, and the han minifig goes for 50 ish.
Fun fact. The Tie Fighters were originally blue but were changed to black. It was typically early on in the Empire and you can see this very well in Lego 75154 (Tie Striker) which contains some blue (but a more correct blue)

For info the first 1 are blue cause in the original movie in theater and VHS they look ice blue insted of grey they change it when they rerelease an other version of the OG trilogy.and lego in 1999 don’t have the light blue and sand blue we know now
The UCS is the goat for being the most screen accurate tie fighter. The blue tie fighters was because the blue color in the original 4,5,6 it was a bluish colored metal not easily replicated at that time but now possible but the ucs is the superior Lego set by design. The others are all toy built with play functions over the accuracy of the original. Also I have compared the photos of the original tie fighter to the build and the length of the wings and the body design is very much accurate with the limitations of legos.

Terrible ranking, solo tie fighter is the best and ucs tie fighter is damn near perfect. Cockpits on both are perfectly done imo. Makes sense because they both came out not too far from each other too.

The reason they’re blue is to show detail in the builds, mauls ship is also blue. I think it’s because they didn’t have certain color pieces like Star Wars grey
no. This was because the original Tie Fighters seen in the movies were actually light blue-ish. They were later changed to a brighter shade of gray alongside with some ships of the prequels.

The 2018 tie fighter isn’t good! Yes it has good figs but it isn’t all tiled off while the 2021 version is. That making the 2021 Tie Fighter much better. Also the 2018 Tie Fighter didn’t have a good price at $70 while the 2021 version is just $45 which is much more reasonable for a Tie Fighter. 2021 is the best Tie Fighter I don’t wanna hear “oH nO 2018 iS tHe bEsT” No 2018’s Tie Fighter is not designed well, and the Center and wings are weak and it isn’t tiled off. 2021 is the best Tie Fighter.
