    I have essential tremor and it is progressively getting worse. I am sympathetic toward this guy whose tremor is worse than my own. He seems like a great guy. It is difficult to live with tremor because people judge you or they avoid getting close to you. As difficult as the simplest task has become, like putting on pierced earrings, what bothers me most is I feel insecure around people. I try now to avoid social events. I wonder if they think I am an alcoholic with the DTS or because I delight in gardening, I wonder if neighbors think I expose myself to toxic substances ,insecticides, herbicides etc. I have become paranoid. I find it humiliating.

      I feel so badly for your suffering. Our reason for posting these case history videos it to give sufferers HOPE.
      This man was diagnosed as "cervical dystonia" and was recommended brain surgery to implant a stimulator. Yet correcting his jaw / neck position made great improvements in his symptoms. So it proves that the root cause was poor jaw / neck mis-aligment was the root cause since that was the only change we made

    • @ramancentertmj
      @ramancentertmj  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What is "Essential Tremor"? That means they don't know WHAT is the root cause of that tremor, right?
      Could it be that the root cause of those tremors is poor jaw / neck alignment such as it was for Mike?

      Olá, também tenho distonia cervical e me sinto como você. Sou do Brasil, e aqui, o atendimento pra saúde demora bastante, embora tenhamos excelentes profissionais, a questão da demora no atendimento público é muita, o que prolonga o sofrimento, visto que estou sem tratamento devido a quase 2 anos. O que vem me ajudando é a tratar a questão psicológica para enfrentar a situação. Também me isolei de vida social. Mas vamos levando. Desejo que você se recupere!

    Jordan M: I have no idea what your background or expertise is to suggest this case of Cervical Dystonia is due to anxiety. It is demeaning to the person that is suffering from this condition. CD is real. It is due to uncontrolled firing of the nerves that control the muscles the move the head....which in my experience...is due to an imbalance of the muscles that control the jaw / neck area.

    • @noelcampbell1672
      @noelcampbell1672 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I have incurable cervical dystonia. Thank you for saying CD is caused by anxiety what absolute rubbish. CD causes social anxiety because people like me feel so conscious of our condition. I have friends but I rarely go out as I have been refused admission to bars/clubs as people on the door assume I must be drunk. Honestly this is what has happened to me on several occasions.

      Hello Sean: You have my permission to use the video in your address. My whole purpose in posting this is to inform people...which is also what you are doing. More power to you! People need to know that Physiologic Neuromuscular Dentistry (PNMD) may offer a solution, rather than simply paralyzing muscles with Botox which does not offer a long term solution in many cases.
      Mike, I understand, is a quite a guitar legend in the SFO bay area. He has given me written permission which is why I was able to post this on TH-cam & make it accessible to "public".

    have a question, dystonia is only in the neck or it can include another muscle? because in my case I feel a contraction in the back of my neck that makes me shake my head and crackle my neck every time I move it, it sounds very ugly.

    • @ramancentertmj
      @ramancentertmj  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question! Yes, it can involve other muscles.
      Our muscles do not work in isolation. Normally they work in pairs or groups of agonists (work together) and antagonists (work against) to effect movements that are smooth and purposeful. In dystonia (poor - tonus) this is not the case.
      My treatment approach is to diagnose the root structural cause for which the muscles are compensating - in this case with movement. Almost always it is the poor structural alignment of the jaw and neck. Where the teeth happen to come together is not the same as where the jaw and neck would ideally align. Once that structural deficit is made up - temporarily at first with fixed PNM orthotic- the muscles no longer have the need to compensate. This usually leads to relief of symptoms as well.
      Does that make sense?

    • @Gabrielherrera-ym5sh
      @Gabrielherrera-ym5sh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ramancentertmj ok in my case I present a contraction in my neck that causes the head shaking but the most unusual thing is not the head shaking which is partly frustrating but the sound it causes me is something strange because sometimes it is a super rare cracking in the neck When I move my head it sounds very ugly that is also cervical dystonia or rather affects the brain more, would it be another case? Thanks for answering, I really appreciate it.

  • @tomjordan6356
    @tomjordan6356 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I have had cervical dystonia for many years. I am curious why you will get the shakes while lying down ? I would recommend getting a second opinion. Botox works great for me. I am sorry to see you suffer through this. Through diet , excersize, I put myself through the challenge of re-aligning my brain with neuroplasticity. ?? Any thoughts ?

    • @ramancentertmj
      @ramancentertmj  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It is a good idea to have a thorough medical workup to rule out tumors and other causes. But if they diagnose the condition as CD, most likely it will be Botox injections every 3 months FOREVER with increasing doses to "manage" the symptoms. You may want to find an experienced and competent NM dentist to diagnose the underlying CAUSE of the movement and correct that. That is what we did for Mike and many others. All the best to you.

      @@ramancentertmjno to Botox toxin injection based of my experiences! I am also a cervical dystonia also known as spasmodic torticollis patient it’s been 3 years in hell because of this debilitating and ashamed neuro movement disorder! I tried so many treatments included Botox toxin injection as they said in medical science as a main treatment for this condition i tried twice but the results was terrible in hell for me it did not work out for my condition in fact it gotten to the point that I gotten worsened because of that toxin in my system it’s spreading out all over in my lower and upper extremities in my muscles and limbs it’s like a myositis disease weakness and paralysis is like in come even in bed so a rather have a torticollis than having a coma like a severe myositis! It’s been almost a year since that I had that poisoned Botox in my body so now I did alternative treatments options which is works for me these muscle relaxant soma and benzodiazepine and others and physical therapy gently stretching exercises and a neck brace to aligned my cervical spine and some portable devices is very helpful the LLLT and VNS and emus oil and I’ve saw my improvement based of these treatments 20-30 percent.

    Also does anyone know if there have been any experiments with medical marihuana to help cervical distonia patients? Not necessarily smokin it but in any form, oils, injections, eating ect? This patient got better & so have not been back from California where he lives. I have no information on medical marijuana for CD. Even if it "works" how is it better than prescription medications that just mask the symptoms for a few hours? I like the idea of actually correcting any structural problems that CAUSE symptoms. That is just me. :-)

It gets worse when put into stress, pressure, lack of sleep, or anxiety (mostly at a place with many people and/or new people) I take medicine that calm down the blodpressure, but mostly it doesnt work but can make it a little better. I recommend to go see a doctor, it's not gonna help with waiting for someone else to bring the help. You gotta seek the help, and be patient and stubborn, cause doctors have to look at other things first before saying it's dystonia. You gotta be clear of how it is, some doctors can be lazy but you just gotta be stubborn if that happens. DON'T lock yourself away from society, that's just gonna make the anxiety worse, don't ever let the shakings take control of your life!
