I have been playing this as a 4 iron for a few years now. I like it and it's my safest shot of the tee. Issues I have with it is that it comes out too high if there is any wind, so I might swap it out soon.
This is what sold me on these, today actually (got fitted for the 2023 model). I was gaming Mizuno MP-18's since they came out, but I switched to the P-790 today. Of course I gained distance, I was hitting the 7iron at around 176-180 over maybe 2 hours of straight shots. That isn't what sold me on it though, it was the dispersion. I was literally hitting a soft draw for 2 hours straight. They were a bit thicker and longer than my MP18 MB's of course, but not off putting at all. I am an 8 handicap currently.
Very happy with my JPX 919 forged. Truly forged they should add. New model 790 does sound better than the previous one. I like your final comment but trying everything is impossible here.
I have the 2020 version big improvements from my Mizuno clubs, best irons I have had in my bag - not surprised TM have released a 3rd version that’s just what TM marketing do every 9-12 months I’m keeping my current set
I’m a bogey / weekend hack. I’m shooting mid to low 90’s. Would these irons fit my skill level? I hit a 7i about 165 yards. I’ve always played game improvement irons.
I bought some of these 3 weeks ago. I find it almost impossible to fade the ball. The clubs just hit straight or have a slight draw. They feel so sweet when I swing. Im a 9 handicap and feel these could get me a bit lower. Great review. Thanks
Another new expensive iron set from Taylor Made, what a shocker. Have to admit though their P series are gorgeous, no doubt. There’s a lot of good stuff out there so you can save a buck or two and look elsewhere.
The ability to cut or draw the ball on purpose. The ability to get the necessary spin to do that typically comes at the expense of forgiveness when designing clubs. So better players want blades that will produce that kind of spin, but mid to high handicappers are better off with a more forgiving club.
@@hlf_coder6272would the 2021 p790 be too much of a players club for a 17 handicap who hits his 7 iron total about 130? And fitting the irons with graphite shafts?
Ps that's a 5/6 iron. Stop talking about it in comparison to your 7 iron that is probably 2 or 3 degrees weaker. Makes no sense talking about the number stamped on the club.
Very poor review and comparison. Almost seems like a paid ad for Taylormade to upgrade. The changes are very marginal from the data and not signifcant. Shot shaping should have been compared between old and new. Others have done similar comparisons
Best review I've seen so far, very accurate and helpful. We'll done!
How do you compare this vs the 770 in terms of feel and forgiveness

Had the 919 tour but didn’t get on with them .. switched to the 770 and love them 😎

Good review, been eyeing these for a while

Wow where did you get them from please I was under the impression they were not available yet ?

Thank you. Great input. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻😊😊
Hi what did you find the back to front dispersion.
As the 2017 model you used to get 20 or 30 yards dispersion which was crazy.
Haha, that would be you having a 20 to 30 yard dispersion. They test these clubs with robotics and do not have 20 yard dispersions

What do you mean exactly when you say "workable" ?

They are nice but expensive I feel, 5-pw graphite shafts £1029, Ping G425 same spec £729. 🤔
u are correct exspensive lucky for me it was my birthday wish me luck on the course
Long bit of string was it 💪

How much !!!! Competative ....... ok!!! 🤔
Don't get why anyone cares what they look like from behind. All i care about is how an iron looks at address.

The guy doesn't even know how to make a proper divot pattern on the turf. Pass.
@@lkae4 are you sure he made all those divots? 🤔
Boring
Yes, you are boring. Don't need to tell us.
