Just hit my P790’s for the first time and these are hands down the sickest irons ever made , best all around iron. Feel unreal , forgiving and good distance. Highly highly recommended
Of course my 2019's came in a week ago today. I like how they look more like the 770s, which are gorgeous, but I'm not good enough to hit those. Besides appearance I don't think the technology changes have me regretting getting the gen 2s.

They look great! No surprise there... I like the chrome look better than the brushed look - always found the brushed look knicks and dings easier (or shows more?). Anyone else find that as well? James - maybe a head to head vs the T200? That could be fun...

New owner of 2021 4-AW with DG VSS 105 shafts. Just two range sessions and 9 holes played so still getting to know them. First impressions are excellent. They are easy to hit and to make swing adjustments with. The heads make a different sound when struck well. Looking forward to exploring the envelope.
James, I noticed a lot of the first few holes you were drawing the ball. Is that your normal shot shape or did the offset of these clubs cause you to draw the ball ? Just curious.
Great review James I’ve tried the T400 and DCB Apex my favourites so far. Also tried G425, Sim max O/S, JPX921+hot metal, yet to try Cobra Radspeed. As a senior 22 handicapper who gets the ball up easily are these worth checking out? Many thanks!

Great review James. I changed from Miura CB501's to Gen 2 P790's last year, I'm not sure that I can justify changing again so soon but I'm sorely tempted! They're gorgeous.

Single digit playing the new P770's but I think I have the wrong shaft, it's a stiff but i need regular.; On the other hand maybe I should switch to the more forgiving P790's since I need more distance being 67.
I hit these clubs in a fitting. Performance wise they were great. Feel was the worst thing ever. It felt like plastic clicking or smacking against the feel.
I’m convinced that no matter the course, no matter how hard, or set up for the toughest pga competition… you would shoot level par! A lot of tour pros cannot do that! LoL
Love to see how you'd combo a set with 770's. I have been playing the 770's since they came out and just ordered a 4 iron 790 bent 1 degree weaker to replace my 770 4 iron, but I'd like to maybe pick up a used set and use 790's in 4, 5 and 6 iron.

Those are so sexy looking!!!! I have been a TM ball guy for over a year now...but never really liked the irons. The feel felt even deader than my 2016 Big Bertha irons. I may have to give these a try.
What’s the difference between the 790s probably the price, keeps going up& up, maybe 5 years from now when price is low enough when the new 790 comes out in 2026 lol

TM P790 look like jewelry or art. Beautiful clubs. Anyone would like to game those but not so sure they are good for average players or seniors in the 10-18 handicap range regardless of any of the forgiveness features it has.
That top line is thick. Not fat, but thick. Not very appealing to my eye. Great review though, James! And don’t worry about being North of 30. My 30’s were the best time of my life. Keep kicking A$$ and taking names, buddy!
When do the new 770s come out? Will you review those as well? I am gaming the 2020 Sim Max OS and I’m thinking I should have gone with something less “chunky”, despite being fitted for them.
@Mike Warner I do like them in general, but not hitting the long irons, 4/5/6, very well. I should probably get lessons before getting new irons. But the P790s and P770s look awesome to me. Mike, did you get steel or graphite shafts? I purchased the graphite and that might also contribute to my issue.
They are so similar to the discontinued Ping i500s but just not as good looking - a bit chunkier with a bit of bling. Like all hollow headed clubs they will still be prone to flyers through the green........

These irons are pretty as hell. Looks better than the blades they make! LIKE OMG. The music makes em look prettier. Awesome sound track.

I think they look great for longer irons but I would combine them with P770 in mid and short irons
People need to start give more recognition on the Honma TR21X, such a wonderful iron in every aspect. If you like the P790, the TR21X is a no brainer.

Simply, Taylormade have the best engineers in the game right now.
The P series of the Taylor Made irons are all gorgeous, buuut, you can find good quality clubs for cheaper and not feel so much like a PGA sponsor 😁.

I bought a set of p790’s but it doesn’t include A 3 iron. I got a 4 iron then a 5 wood. Should I just get a hybrid or buy a regular 3 iron!
