    My husband and I got pregnant very easily the first time we tried, about 3 months. Fast forward to 3 years later and we decide to try again. 2 years go by with no success. I get all the tests done including a very uncomfortable exam. Finally my man got tested and was told he was functionally sterile. We were shocked! Low motility and low numbers. Turns out we had a miracle baby; a one in 20 billion beautiful girl. Please get the test. It also found a problem that would have killed him before age 40, he's 66 now.

      @stshnie 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Absolutely. Jen said, ‘He’s produced two children so there’s nothing wrong with him’. But she’s produced two children and did all the tests. Well, some of them.
      He should at least have blood work. There are two people involved in this. One is undergoing testing. The other isn’t. Makes no sense.

    • @AmysArea
      @AmysArea 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @stshnie actually it does make perfect sense! I was once in the same mindset as Jen and tried for years to conceive. however I was 32 and still without child and or pregnancy . Sometime our minds have a huge part in the baby game!! I had gone to my dr in Aug and we explained how long we tried. (2years) the next step came to lots of blood testing for me as we ended that with the same results including thyroid as Jen has! After that my dr said if your not pregnant by December infertility would be our next step starting January. Blood work for the hubby but not until then... prayers and weight loss and stop trying so hard!!!! Ok 4 months of waiting wasn’t so bad for fertility test. Well I was with child by September!!!! Less then 3 weeks later!!!!!
      Jen needs to relax !!! Stop thinking about it and let Zac just do the deed! It was the sunflower seeds that my husband ate that boosted his little swimmers!!!! Having our children is a blessing not a job or hard job at that! Now we all know they have been there and done this however all the worry the thoughts they really do cause craziness and you just gotta believer can still happen at this Stage Jen!!
      Go have fun and enjoy the process!
      SO WITH THAT SAID AND DONE AS MY TWO CHILDREN! ARE Living proof of AGES 11 & 8 . I lost one in the middle. One month on birth control after my first I became with child again and miscarried. Then I was blessed with my daughter when I turned 35.. after her I had my tubes tied for the concern of my age and being high risk at 35. I have a deaf brother and I know how risky it could be at my age.. but I’ll guarantee I would have had another had I not. Jen ,Zac let go let God and have fun!!! Prayers for you all!!

    After having 3 children I developed hypothyroidism. I had secondary infertility where I was able to get pregnant but suffered repeated losses. My experience was that I needed thyroid meds in order to get pregnant and stay pregnant. I had weekly appointments at the start of my pregnancy to monitor thyroid and hormone levels. I was on progesterone support as a precaution and my thyroid meds needed adjustment before I reached 6 weeks but then it stayed stable until delivery. After giving birth it took about 9 months and 3 meds changes for my thyroid to stabilize.

    • @stshnie
      @stshnie 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing your story, Karen. You said ‘thyroid and hormone levels’. Can I just point out that thyroid hormone is a hormone so it should be ‘thyroid and other hormone levels’. Insulin is also a hormone. Yes, symptoms of hypothyroidism can include tiredness and putting on weight and are often mentioned. That might be why people think it’s not a serious problem. It actually affects every cell of the body - it can affect your heart rate, for example - so it’s perhaps not surprising that it is also involved in fertility issues.
      It’s mainly women who are affected so it seems, to me, intimately bound up with the other female hormones. It’s not necessarily that we are living an unhealthy lifestyle but somehow our (male) partners are healthy.

    I could have predicted what you were going to say that the Doctor spotted before you said it. I have severe thyroid issues, if your TSH is out of range or at the top of the range, there is more than just a little bit of an issue going on, it's likely more than anything else to be the cause, TSH is a very poor indicator of Thyroid issues. You need to ensure you are getting sufficient magnesium, zinc and selenium in your diet. Most Doctors are utterly utterly useless where Thyroid stuff is concerned, they don't treat it properly and they certainly don't give you the really good advice. Please, please, please have a read of the Stop The Thyroid Madness website.

    • @bluesue929
      @bluesue929 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. The acceptable range for TSH is very broad and there can be issues which the doctor does not realize. Check also T3 and T4 levels. You can always use the nascent iodine if the thyroid range is still "acceptable" per the doctor. Dr. Brownstein has written a book detailing thyroid issues. Magnesium can also be an issue for fertility.

    Surprised they didn't advise Vitamin D3 as well- pretty common to have that recommended for both men and women looking to get pregnant: )
    *Fingers crossed* And yep, Zach will need that workup too haha- get the cup ready! (lol)

    Supplements are good IF you research your special needs and if you take in to account any meds you are on. Herbs and supplements are NOT always safe, I say this as a nurse. Please do your research! For instance chamomile can cause uterine cramps that can cause early miscarriage. I care about you two, prayers for what is Gods will. Yearly exams might prevent any scary medical issues from becoming threatening.

    Glad your checkup went well. I actually have a Chaste(Vitex) tree in my backyard. It was given as a seedling. They call it The Womans tree. I was given Thyroid meds as a young adult & lost weight & felt great so I stopped taking it. I didn’t know I was supposed to take it forever!🤣 No I don’t take it now either. You two are blessed with the amount of love, understanding & respect you show each other. I pray God continues to bless your family. 🙏🥰👩‍🌾🙋‍♀️

    You really want your thyroid levels to be spot on. As someone who had to have my thyroid removed, it isn't anything to play around with. Even a tiny bit out of tolerance, makes a HUGE difference in how you feel and how your entire immune system functions. Please see an endocrinologist to explore the thyroid issue further.

    Jenn, my son in law is a Chiropractor. They have all the same medical training as an MD just not pharmacology . With that being said , several years ago his secretary /front office had mentioned her and hubby were going to be taking harmones as they were trying to get pregnant ...they had been checked and nothing was found wrong ! My son in law told her to try a series of adjustments and see if that didn’t help . She was adjusted 3 times in 3months , the 4th. Month she was pregnant !, She had 3 children back to back ! Got turned on couldn’t turn off ! 😂🤣 Just thought I’d share honey ! Be blessed and favored always 🙏🏽❤️

    The liver heals extremely fast as long as damage is found and reversed quickly. Like I said I lost weight right before I got pregnant and I'm 14weeks 5days with our rainbow baby. The 3rd marked a year ago our sons heart stopped at 15 weeks along. We had tried for 3 and a half years to have him. This babies heartbeat was 158 yesterday at my check up 🥰. I pray y'all are blessed with a baby soon!!!

    Did you just have a TSH level done or did your doctor do a thyroid panel done? I have dealt with lots of thyroid issues for about 30 years. A low TSH level can point to other thyroid issues. I’m hoping for you all goes well but you may want to pursue further thyroid testing if you continue to have issues.

    To overcome the one person rule in a Dr's office/hospital take your phone/tablet/computer with you, tell the Dr. that you want someone else to be with you, so your going to use that device to include them in the meeting. You have the right to have an advocate with you in some capacity. You may need to sign a release of information form, but it only takes a couple minutes. Never think you have to receive medical information alone and having someone else listen with you is helpful. You can also ask to record the conversation or have the medical professional right down anything you don't understand. I have acted as a patient advocate many times.

    I have Hashimoto's Jen, and take a high dose of medicine. I am fundamentally opposed to medication, but opted for the synthetic thyroid hormone due to the serious symptoms that can be associated with Hashimoto's. Some people can be borderline, and supplements/habit changes can help, but don't be afraid to take the medicine if you need it. Wishing you the best and sending love :)

I am 61 and have had 2 heart attacks and triple bi pass all starting at 40 yr and my father dies of heart attack and his father dies of heart attack and knowing this I should have started early 20’s taking care of myself. I actually thought my brother would possibly have the Attack but it turns out it is all the second generation!!! So you are absolutely correct in doing what y’all are because now I have to take 12 pills a day just to stay alive and I wouldn’t wish this off on ANYONE it is horrible!
